UFC 95 Will Be On The House After All; Fitch-Gono on Unaired UFC 94 Preliminary Card

It looks like the UFC has alas wised up and officially deemed UFC 95, set for London, England, a Spike TV “International Event” as opposed to an unjustifiable pay-per-view. Kudos to seeing the light Dana and crew, but how about working on that UFC 93 Dublin show, eh? I mean, it is Christmas.

Speaking of upcoming events, it was recently discovered that Jon Fitch, who battled and came up short against Georges St. Pierre just this past August, has been relegated to the “may not be broadcast” undercard of UFC 94 where he is set to take on Akihiro Gono. The obvious question here is whether Fitch ’s downgrade is simply due to an already stacked main card, or backlash for his brief but highly publicized rift with UFC brass over video game likeness rights. I’d like to think that its the former, but then again hell hath no fury like a swearing bald man scorned.

What a crock of ****. If I was Fitch, I would be extreamly pissed off. He goes from a title contender to an undercard fight. Seems to me that Dana dont want him to stick around very long.

This is stupid, **** Dana everyone knows you don’t go from #1 contender to undercard , Dana is really starting to get on my nerves with his unfair treatment of fighters. Anyone with a brain knows Fitch could be the main event for a free UFC card and no one would complain , It’s a sad day in MMA when talented people are downgraded by a guy that thinks he can go power tripping around anytime he feels like it.
Dana writes the checks, Dana makes the rules. If Fitch doesn’t like them, he shouldn’t have gone over Dana’s head to get back in the UFC. After all, he could always have gone and gotten the WAMMA welterweight belt at the next Affliction event right?
This is the same old ****-and-moan-fest as always. “Oh, who does Dana think he is?” “Dana’s not bigger than MMA.” “Dana doesn’t do _________ right and if I was a fighter I wouldn’t be happy.” “Dana mistreats his fighters by only paying them a few months of most working folks’ salary.”
Guess what? If they aren’t happy, they can go take a pay cut to fight at some dinky little regional promotion. If they choose not to do that, they can deal with Dana. It isn’t like there’s no options. They may not be equal options, but there’s a price for success and fame.
And finally….until you raise up a billion dollar fighting promotion, shut the hell up about what Dana should know. He’s doing pretty well, as is his promotion. Why does he owe you or me anything? Because we throw 45 bucks a month at the cable company? Really?

I didn’t say Dana has made bad chooses ever sense he got into MMA , but he has made some bone headed moves as of lately . As far as his boneheaded moves ” Giving people title shots when they don’t deserve it ” and ” Not giving people title shots when they do deserve it ” … Dbis if you needs a few examples just leave a comment and I’ll tell you a few. =} Fitch deserves better then undercard leave that at that

if dana has more brains than ego, he will listen to the people. if not, if his egogets in the way, he ill soon be upstaged, I’m sure of it, by someone who willtreat the fighters fairly and the way they deserve to be treated,.
Here we go again….Dana’s a jerk, he doesn’t pay the fighters blah blah blaaaw. It’s called personal responsibility. If the fighters aren’t happy with how they’re treated, it is their personal responsibility to find something else to do or somewhere else to work where they can be happy with how their boss treats them. (Not that anyone has mentioned this, but I can tell where this is going.) They don’t have any “right” to be paid any certain amount or treated any way at all. They don’t even have a “right” to be able to make money for fighting. They should be happy that they can get paid enough to make a living doing what they love. There are a lot of fighters not good enough to get paid well enough to make living doing what they love, or even get paid at all. Fifteen years ago no MMA fighter could make a living doing what they love, and any fighter getting paid for fighting still had to work another job. The only thing they have a “right” to in this regard is the “right” to make decisions for themselves concerning what is best for their future and family. No one owes them anything except what they are contractually obligated to give them. “this(sic) is a free world” and the fighters can decide who they want to work for, for how much money and for what if any other benefits.
I just watched a show on G4 earlier today about these idiots in Silicon Valley that get together and beat the mess out of each other in a garage with sticks and (computer) keyboards for the fun of it. They’re not even smart enough to go buy a forty dollar pair of MMA gloves and fight properly, or even to get into any kind of shape for doing it, and these guys in the UFC get paid thousands of dollars to fight properly, with EMTs present in front of thousands of people live, and millions of people around the world watching on TV. Comparatively even fighting in the UFC for a measly ten grand beats fighting in a garage for nothing if you love to fight.

Who are you to decide who does and doesn’t deserve a title fight? You’re nobody. Unless you own/run a major MMA promotion, you’re a keyboard jockey who doesn’t have the sense to stop paying for something he doesn’t approve of.
Don’t think someone deserves a title shot? Upset that _______ didn’t get a title shot? Don’t buy the PPV. And if Dana doesn’t come to your door, begging you not to take his precious revenue away it means he didn’t notice and doesn’t care.

Fitch doesn’t deserve main card status. He doesn’t DESERVE anything but to get paid what his contract says he gets paid. That’s it. It goes back to Justin’s point about personal responsibility. Dana is setting up the cards the way he wants to because that is his role in the UFC. Fitch can get upset if he wants, but there’s only one thing he can do about it. Fulfill his contract and walk when it’s over.
For your part, I highly suggest you do the smart thing and vote with your wallet. Stay home (going to a bar that shows the PPV is the same as buying it), don’t order the PPV, and head on over to sherdog and rant and rave about the EPIC UNFAIRNESS of the guy who does what you can only dream of doing.

Because if FITCH, former title contender, winner of 8 in a row in a stacked ww div. with wins over alves and sanchez is moved to a prelim card because of his “dispute” with the ufc, then that’s just what girls do man. I agree with you in principle that if you don’t agree or like something then don’t buy it, but I love the UFC and fighting so I’m going to. But as a consumer I want the best product I can buy and Fitch vs Gono is probably going to be a great fight and as a fan I want to see it! Personally I feel that this fight is the 3rd best fight on the card and why shouldn’t we as loyal fans (which without us the UFC would not exist) be rewarded with this fight. I don’t care if Dana has beef with someone or not…..show me the best fights possible!

Also you want less MMA brought to u by the UFC, and in those “they put on events every two weeks” not all are PPV, and the UFC gives pleanty of free top knotch MMA events every year.. Who else is out there bring top fighters too us??? Also I don’t mean to harp on you but I don’t allow my customers to tell me how to run my business, I listen to them keep them happy give them excellent customer serives help them when I can…. But to change my entire (successful business model) because a customer tells me he pays my employee’s salaries ehh not so much…
If you want to save $$ alternate PPV buys between u and some budies 1 guy orders the fights, some guys bring the brew, other guy orders the pizza, get creative with it… that’s just my opionion and this wasn’t a personal attack!!
