Jake Rosholt To Make UFC Debut Against Alessio Sakara at UFC Fight Night 17
One-fight WEC veteran and wrestling standout Jake Rosholt will make his UFC debut against Alessio Sakara at UFC Fight Night 17, reports MMAJunkie.com.
A three-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion and four-time All-American, Rosholt (5-0) successfully made his WEC debut in November with a second-round TKO of Nissen Osterneck. The UFC’s sister promotion axed its middleweight division earlier this month and Rosholt will now transition to the UFC.
A nine-fight UFC veteran, Sakara dropped to the 185-pound middleweight division following a victory over James Lee in January, but was defeated by Chris Leben via first-round TKO in his debut in the new weight class. He got back on track and evened his UFC record at 4-4 with a first-round knockout of Joe Vedepo in September.
Other bouts slated for the Febuary 7th card in Tampa, Florida include headliner Joe Launzon vs. Hermes Franca as well as Mac Danzig vs. Josh Neer, Nick Catone vs. Amir Sadollah, and Denis Stojnic vs. Cain Velasquez.

shaping up to be a very good fight night….joe silva never disapoints me
Rosholt v Sakara is an interesting match forsure I think Rosholt can come away with it but that’s just my intial gut feeling
I agree.
Rosholt better work on his stand up game if he wants to hang with Sakara or hes not going to last like he did with Osterneck. Rosholts wrestling is outstanding and he better utilize it very fast with a heavy striker like Sakara
Agreed, if Rosholt holds his hands the same way he did in his last fight he’s going to be KO’d by Sakara in pretty short order
I wonder if they have big hopes for Jake Rosholt or if they want Alessio to get an easy knockout and be dubbed the knockout assasin and have more buys in italy.
When talking about Sakara, the correct term is “knocked out assassin.”
HE’S GOING FOR A KIMURA!!!!!
Yea he has knocked out some people in his day but still i mean use him as the next houston.
I was more referring to his spectacular losses and how people use him for highlight reel wins…
Oh ok yeah he has lost to the people you want to beat in the organization.
My boy Rosholt will put Sakara on his back and negate his power. I’ve never saw anybody knock someone out from their back. Jake is a wrestling god and will show the world just what he has on this night.
wrestling dosent win a fight …mma fights start on the feet….
re: “wrestling dosent(sic) win fight”
Tell that to Josh Koshcheck, Randy Couture, Gray Maynard, Brock Lesnar, GSP, and a whole host of other fighters, because apparently they don’t know that.
the guys u just named dont only have wrestling….
