True on the Lutter point, I thought tho that Silva wanted to go to the ground on a few of those takedowns, but the ankle pick one he just got taken down, and if that were the case with Maia, Silva would be on his back cheers

well i see wat your saying about the strong takedowns but i mean does it even need to be strong i mean travis lutter took down silva with a ankle pick...if a gassed lutter can ankle pick silva then im pretty sure that maia can get him down....but maia has to win one more fight first i say if lister beats okami which he will imo make it lister/maia that would be a ground match for the ages

Gun I see what you are saying, but i also believe that Maia's takedowns arent very strong, persistant yes strong not so much (when i state strong look at Hendo's takedowns or KOS or GSP explosive if you will) which without that strong takedown i believe that Silva has a better chance of stuffing it than the others but in Maia's persistance he most likely would be able to take Silva down... What happens after that is anyones guess

i agree fr but id say there even on the gorund hendo's wrestling should have won him that fight but im still waiting for someone to realize that silva can not lose standing and i think maia knows that and thats why i think maia would take him down fast and sub him

Gun, every man has their weakness, about four years ago most definately it was Silva's subb defense (not that his JJ on the ground but his sub defense was lacking) now his JJ is really underrated and this has been shown since his arrival in the UFC... Maia, Leites definately are really good fighters and im not taking anything away from them, yet if they get KO'D standing up they wont have an oppritunity to sub Silva, if it does go to the ground he has his work cut out for him but he is more than compentant to stay outta trouble..
Now you say he has horrible takedown defense, I would say yes and no.. if you notice he has a tendoncey to pull guard yet not like others pull guard for him being so tall and lanky for the division he pulls guard and works the body triangle then moves towards sweeps, thats just the way i see his BJJ game... also Silva is one of the 3 men to ever sub Hendo, do you really think that going to the ground would be wise, hey i enjoy Hendo just like everyone else, but in reality Anderson Silva is the better fighter standing and with subs just my opionion my friend....

ya but even henderson got wobbled from anderson's standup anderson was almost the first guy to ko henderson.....hendo should have taken it to the ground at the begining of the second also.....the thing with anderson is he has horrible takedown defense and he can be subbed alot of times.....those are his two weakness's so my guess is if maia gets a chance at silvas title we will have a new champ maia has ways to takedown anyone and is imo the best mma submission artist...he's transitioned his jits to work perfectly for mma......andersons 2009 doesnt look easy IMO
