  • Trainer Juanito Ibarra has denied Wanderlei Silva’s claim that he offered to train the Brazilian for his upcoming bout with Ibarra’s former pupil, Quinton Jackson.
  • Despite ongoing speculation, Affliction says they have yet to reach any official agreement with free agent Tito Ortiz, though the promotion has announced that Ortiz will be in the broadcast booth for “Day of Reckoning.”

  • UFC lightweight Corey Hill, who sustained a nasty leg break during his untelevised bout at the Fight For The Troops event, now has a charity set up which is accepting donations to help Hill and his family through the holiday season.
  • WEC bantamweight Will Ribeiro was in a severe motorcycle accident and is now reportedly comatose in a Rio De Janeiro hospital.
  • Patrick Cote’s knee surgery seems to be a success.
  • K-1’s “Fields Dynamite” show is shaping up rather nicely.
  • Speaking of K-1, the organization has handed down a strong punishment to Badr Hari, for his numerous illegal attacks on Remy Bonjasky during their battle at the World Grand Prix earlier this month.
  • In typical fashion, the UFC will counter-program Affliction’s “Day Of Reckoning” with a replay of UFC 91 “Couture vs. Lesnar” the night of January 24th.
  • English heavyweight Neil Grove has been added to the UFC roster, while former UFC heavyweight Jeff Monson is also rumored to return to the promotion in the near future.
  • Olympic Gold Medalist Judoka Satoshi Ishii says he wants to compete in the UFC (or the WEC if he has to.)
  • Randy Couture will star in yet another generic action movie, but at least this time some other notable action stars are involved as well.
  • Mirko Cro Cop also stars in his own PC video game, though it might not be exactly what you had in mind.
  • Rashad Evans would like to score a submission win over Forrest Griffin.
  • Despite everyones best efforts, it looks like Ken Shamrock will return to MMA competition on February 13th in California.
  • Vote now to help Georges St. Pierre win Canadian “Athlete Of The Year.”
  • Tim Sylvia answers a few semi-compelling questions.
  • Find out how exactly knees to the head (while on the ground) became outlawed in the UFC.
  • Fighter’s and promoters: beware of Premier Fighter.

That was the first I saw the Bojansky-Hari fight. What the hell was up with the foot to the head AFTER getting waved off by the ref? Holy Christ…they kept saying he thought he was in MMA, but I don’t want to see that in MMA either.

  • gunslinger says:

rashad rock forrest then RNC him i think he can do it

  • justin says:

    Re: Badr Hari
I think taking all his money from the fight may be a bit much, but then in NASCAR if you break a rule you don’t get any money from the race, and in the NFL if you get suspended for drugs you lose pay. I suppose too that is serious considering it *potentially* endangers the other fighter’s safety.

    Glad Cantwell apologized.

Its good that the UFC is looking at picking up a few more HWs.

The CroCop game is ridiculous, but the description belongs on engrishfunny.com .

The Randy movie…eh, at least he’s got some other big name people in it with him.

  • dbiz says:

I also knew Dana was gonna air a PPV opposite Affliction. I just didn’t expect THAT one.

  • RyanMoney says:

OMG. I cannot beleive that Niel Grove has been added to the UFC roster. I cannot tell you enough how horrible his style is. He is scared stiff every time a punch comes near him… litterally. He annoys me so much. lol. Only God knows what he has done to deserve a place in the UFC, he will last two fights and wont win either.

    • justin says:

If he’s as bad as you say he is, maybe they signed him to be a punching bag at one of the upcoming events over there.

      • FR702 says:

Monson is no pushover so if this guy is as bad as u say i see monson winning by um sub… Monson is awesome in his own right imo

      • FR702 says:

but he KTFO James Thompson, not even the great Kevin Ferguson could do that

      • justin says:

Did you seriously just use great and Kevin Ferguson in the same sentence?

But I did just look at this guys record, 7-1, all his wins by stoppage, and his one loss was a decision, can’t be a total can.

      • FR702 says:

I knew you would get my humor Justin, seriously funny shhhiit tho

7-1 huh, well perhaps he will do well but really Ryan hasnt been wrong about brits fighting except for his man~crush on Bisbing

      • justin says:

Two of his wins were over Robert “Buzz” Berry, who beat Shammy at some point…that counts for something…or maybe not.

      • RyanMoney says:

haha, my man crush on Bisping? Ive stated time and time again that I dont see Bisping goin much further, i think you have me confused with Johnboy! lol

Ive been to most of Niel Groves UK events and was there the night he KO’d Thompson. It wasnt very impressive. Thompson looked clueless that night. Neil came out swinging in his usual bolt-upright fashion and tagged Thompson. Neither man looked composed and to me it reminded me of the time two girls had a fight at school. Just throw your arms and hope for the best!

See what you think of it:
        http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qwcR0F128X8

Saying that though. I never have a hatred for a fighter so I wish him all the best.

Justin, that was only a few months back when Buzz fought Shammy. It wasnt even a half decent showing from Ken.

      • bsbiz says:

Yeah, but lately, who hasn’t beaten Shammy lately? I think my dead grandmother choked him out at Backwater in the Cage 22 last week.

      • dbiz says:

And you would be wrong. She beat him until he tapped verbally.

      • Justin says:

        Ryan,
That’s kinda what I was getting at about Shammy, a win over him doesn’t mean a whole lot any more.

    • justin says:

Just watched three of Grove’s fights. I’ll give you that he’s sloppy, and he gassed against McSweeny, but he’s got a lot of power in his hands and feet, and he’s a finisher. Against the right UFC opponent he could look like a beast, but then I think any of the top 5 heavies in the UFC would handle him.

  • TheGreenBoneR says:

    Ken Shamrock is coming back?!?!?
Hasnt won a fight in how long!?!?
Didnt he take himself out of his last fight?!?

How much of a step backwards can a man take in MMA?!

  • mike says:

Justin Levens and wife found dead…http://sports.espn.go.com/extra/mma/news/story?id=3777344

  • RyanMoney says:

Man thats so sad about Levens. Both of them Shot to Death? Jeez.

  • Jazzkok says:

………………….Kenny would probably beat diego this time this dude is………………….is on fire and on top of his game but he needs to wait and get his well desereved title shot first.

  • Jazzkok says:

dude for those of us who aren’t internet savvy, what’s IEG and how can i get my screen to look normal again so i can read everyone comments?

    • justin says:

Internet Explorer 6 (six) You need to either be on IE7(Internet Explorer 7 (seven)) or Mozilla Firefox. I recommend that you go to Mozilla.com and download that straight away. The next thing to do would be to run your Windows updates, usually to be found via Start->Microsoft Update or Start->All Programs->Microsoft Update. If you have a pirated version of Windows, let me know before do the updates, otherwise, just do express update.

  • gunslinger says:

it is possible for rashad to RNC or sub forrest…with greg jackson anything is possible…..but anyways if rashad wants to win by sub im sure he is training for it so i guess we will see but all i know is rashad is gonna embarass griffin…….monson is gonna own the ufc hw division

  • Joe says:

I can’t imagine anyone taking Juanito’s word over Wanderlei’s. What reason does Wandy have to lie and make up this entire story. Silva is a classy guy through and through while Juanito’s one big slimeball.

  • gunslinger says:

i dont know who to believe because while yes wandy is a classy guy…this rampage is different wandy and rampage hate each other the biggest rivalry in mma imo…..some people would say couture/liddell, tito/liddell or tito/dana white but no one hates each other like wandy and rampage watch there interviews wandy says “i hate that guy” and rampage says the same thing about wandy….its the ohio state vs michigan of mma

  • Lord Mark says:

I think that is such crap that Cantwell would have to apologize for the comments he made about dislocating his opponents arm. I mean seriously isn’t that what he is being paid to do? I know that they are supposed to respect there opponent and all but that is what you train to do. Just my opinion.

    • RyanMoney says:

You are paid to go out there and win by any means possible. However… Once he broke his arm, in his post fight interveiw with Rogan he was saying that he has been waiting to snap an arm for ages. His opponant was still on the floor I think. Thats un-classy and the dude is a d!ck for saying stuff like that.

  • Dietrich says:

The Cantwell link was a good read…Glad to see him step up…

  • Dietrich says:

    @ Lord Mark,
I think it was only a bigger deal because of what happened to Hill and NC complete inexperience regulating the sport. You should see a between round cleaning crew Tarheel style…

  • timcat says:

In my opinion Cantwell needs to apologize for absolutely nothing. Dude should of tapped and it’s not like he wanted to break his arm, it happens.

  • FR702 says:

yay this was two days ago and i already forgot about it thx Kris my bad hell of a week

  • Dietrich says:

    @Justin,
No I wasn’t there…I played every card I could find but couldn’t get in the door.Seeing Zuffa work in Vegas and the locals here you get the feeling they (Zuffa) might have been “scolded” in advance. And after the episode of Tapout that ended in NC at the Beach (The fighter that fought with Staph) you get the ability to read between the lines albeit a little .Plus hearing how some there were freaked out about Hill, Cantwell put himself in a bad situation in the interview…kind of like pulling for UNC at Cameron…Which brings me to what this reminded me of in the first place…That Roy Williams Press conference a couple a years back so the player could apologize for equating playing for UNC to being in prison or slavery or whatever he said. Both remarks were stupid and both situations quickly became absurd… Hope this makes sense…
