Lightweights Roger Huerta and Spencer Fisher are likely to meet in early-2009, possibly at UFC 96 on March 7th in Columbus, Ohio, according to MMAJunkie.com.
Huerta, who recently inked a new five-fight deal with the UFC, has not fought since an August loss to Kenny Florian at UFC 87. He had previously won 17-straight fights, including six-straight in the UFC.
Fisher has won five of his last seven fights in the UFC, including recent back-to-back victories over Jeremy Stephens and Shannon Gugerty.

Good morning Justin
I really like this match up. Huge fan of both. Tough one to call AGAIN. Both have come so far.
I like this match up as well. Its definitely a tough one to call, I’ll be pulling for Fisher though, gotta pull for the North Carolinian.
Hell of a matchup, I rather pumped about this idea
This would be a great match up 2 of the better strikers in the Light Weight Division going at it. I hope Diego Sanchez excepts Sean Sherks challenge cause Sherk really wants to fight Diego. Throw 2 of these matchs on a card and I’ll buy it
YESSSSSS man the ufc has given birth to yet another lightweight superfight.
This is why i love the lightweight division it is taking over the ufc with crazy good fights like these.
I agree with you ufcmanz sherk v.s sanchez would be CRAZY GOOD.
i would also like to see sherk v.s joe daddy that would be nice but joe daddy is starting to lose his place with the ufc’s best lightweights (sorry to get off topic).
Great match up. hope this fight becomes reality. I see this fight been a war on the feet with huerta taking the desicion and the fight taking fight of the night honor…cant wait!
this fight is gonna b sicknasty with it cant wait.
Great match up!
I have a hunch that we’re going to see Joe Stevenson vs. Tyson Griffin sometime in early 2009 as well. Both are great fighters coming off losses. Would be an exciting fight.
Justin I’ll take Roger just to make it fun.
great match up. this is also why i like the light weight divion.
yes i cant wait for this im hopefully gonna see this live…i love ufc in columbus…i dont care what anyone says but ohio is the best place to fight in….ohio has a very underrated mma fan base…plus us ohioians are always happy no matter where the fight goes…ohio is like japan- i barely ever hear boos in columbus..we appreciate the fights
not as pumped as some of u guys about this fight, i think rodger will own him, ide rather see rodger vs sanchez
Johnboy, nobody has ever owned Spencer! One could say Frankie Edgar handled him well, but just because he kept Spencer on the ground and the King couldn’t stop the double-leg. I can’t see Huerta (whom i like and respect) dominate him…but hopefully we shall see!
