Kampmann To Make Welterweight Debut at UFC 93
Martin Kampmann
Martin Kampann (17-3) will make his welterweight debut at UFC 93 on January 17th in Dublin, Ireland against an opponent to be determined, Five Ounces of Pain reported today.
A middleweight up-and-comer, Kamp mann reeled off nine-straight victories between 2005 and 2008, including four-straight wins over Crafton Wallace, Thales Leites, Drew McFedries, and Jorge Rivera to begin his UFC career. However, he was prompted to drop to welterweight after being dismantled by middleweight contender Nate Marquardt via strikes in just 82-seconds at UFC 88 in September.
Kampann joins Dan Henderson vs. Rich Franklin, Mark Coleman vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Marcus Davis vs. Chris Lytle, Alan Belcher vs. Denis Kang, Jeremy Horn vs. Rousimar Palhares, Thomasz Drwal vs. Ivan Serati, Nate Mohr vs. Denis Siver, Andre Gusmao vs. Antonio Mendes, Abdul Mohamed vs. TBA, and Tom Egan vs. John Hathaway on the rumored lineup for the pay-per-view broadcast event.

I also think this was a good move for kampmann. Would love to see him battle swick after both of their next fights. This card is shaping up with some good matchups too.
who will he fight tho, it must be a top 5/6 guy, we all no hes a bit of a beast so i dont want him to have a giveme first fight, maybe him and mclovin or karo parisyan cant rly think of any1 who ant already ot a fight lined up.
Not sure who I would like to seem him fight, but I do think this is a good move, and look forward to this card.

Diego would be a good fight or maybe Koschek but I doubt he’d be ready in time. The Kampmann McFedries fight was a classic.
I think the best possible opponent for him would be against Dustin Hazelett, at least as far as opponents who don’t already have fights lined up.
IS SHIELDS IN THE UFC? If so, give him shields, or diego sanchez. I think diego would give him some trouble but he would likely beat him, and he would totally destroy shields.
Kampan is a bad a$$ fighter dude and i think he’s going to make his way to challenge gsp’s belt. I like kampman @ ww he’s way too small for mw.
This card is incredible. MMAweekly.com has had Abdul Mohamed as scheduled to fight against someone TBD at UFC 93. Mohamed is a WW, so he will probably be Kampann’s opponent.
Kampmann against Shields or Sanchez would be nice, but currently ProElite is blocking Shields from signing with anyone, and Diego still has to recover from his cartilage damage, not sure how long that will take.

it wont be josh koscheck or mike swick there both fighting at fight for the troops but i would like to see them fight the welterweight division needs some new blood so i am thrilled to see martin go down he needs to do something big after the beating nate marquart gave him

I do like Kampmann he is really talented and I think he will do well in the WW divsion…..fighting McLovin would be a tough task imo, Markham would be a good fight I think but alas he is probably fighting someone somewhere or I forgot the “new” news of him, soo I say Matt Brown then
i’d actually like to see him take diego. there’s two reasons i wouldn’t want to see him fight hazelett. 1, i like both fighters so i’d hate to see who lost and 2. i think hazelett would be a bad match up for him and if this is his first fight at a lower class, he should opt for a good match up so he doesn’t dissappear if he loses. i agree that he shouldn’t fight a nobody but he’s still gotta be smart about who he picks considering how many people have been released due to 1 or 2 losses.

Kampan would beat his a$$, and haselett has become a blossoming flower to the ufc ww jitz game and i don’t think the ufc wants him to lose yet so they won’t place hazelett vs kampan. I think it should be diego and if he isn’t recovered then give him paul kelly or paul taylor. I would have like to see him vs mike “quick and i suck dik” swick. But whatver kampan is going to be awesome at ww but no one will take my boy gsp’s title for a while.

GSP has fought some top notch fighters, I’ll give you that and I won’t call any of them “gay” “washed-up” “one dimensional” etc, cause anyone of these guys would kick our ass in seconds. But the fact that GSP pulled out a split decision over BJ and then went to the hospital while BJ went to get a pissed off drink at the local pub, think BJ won’t put it in the hands of the judges this time. BJ has nothing to lose and a new title to gain, GSP needs to fight the best he has so far and defend his title. BJ loses, then all the GSP guys and keep with the I told you so. Penn wins, well then, some serious ass kissing needs to be done and I’ll start with you!

right or wrong about GSP v. BJ Penn. Using “gay” as a random insult is weak. Caol Uno may not be a great fighter, but he’s had wins against fighters who were considered top fighters at that time. If you don’t think he’s a great fighter, say he’s not a great fighter, or call him a p***y, but “gay”…that’s weak. BTW BJ beat Hughes (before he lost to him), Rodrigo Gracie, and Renzo Gracie, pretty well owned Sean Sherk himself, never lost to Matt Serra, and beat Gomi. BJ has a decent record himself..

I am not sure how this ended up about bj penn and gsp with lots of gay talk lol. Bj penn shoulda won the first fight by the way just murdered him all gsp had were takedowns for points in which bj got right back up. My next point I don’t see a reason for any fan to call someone gay or a fag or a weak fighter. Caol uno isn’t the number one in the world but jazzkok to say you can beat his is only good for a laugh.
