Mirko Cro Cop vs. Alistair Overeem Scrapped For New Year’s Eve
A long-rumored heavyweight rematch featuring Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic (23-6-2) and Alistair Overeem (40-11) tentatively scheduled for K-1 DYNAMITE!! 2008 on December 31st in Saitama, Japan has been postponed.
Fields Dynamite FEG executive Sadaharu Tanigawa officially announced that the bout had been delayed at a press conference earlier this week.
“Alistair is begging for this fight but this fight will not go ahead on NY eve at Fields Dynamite,” said Tanigawa, according to Free Fight Videos. “We will look to mach them up on a different card.”
Their first matchup ended in a no contest after Overeem repeatedly kneed Cro Cop in the groin. Filipovic is just 1-2-1 in his last four bouts while Overeem is undefeated in five-straight.

your crazy ! ! alot of people could whoop cro cop standing. i use to like him but his true colors have shown and i think he wants to fight no name losers to make him feel better about being a loser. he dont want a rematch cuz hes going to get whooped worse then the first time. i hate overeem and i think he would get whooped by aot of people but hes better then cro cop 4 sure

Shilt, Hunt, Fedor, AA, Overeem, Antonio Silva. Kharitonov, dos Santos(had too),Velasquez, Rampage, Evans, Lyoto,Liddell (yep), Anderson Silva
Now discredit what u would like I did throw in LHW’s cuz one CC can make it to 205 and all of those guys can make it to 206 teechnically.. Now in being a fan of CC I know that he at any point can ko anyone (when he is focused) and I don’t believe he is washed up or done I think he just really doesn’t care about winning anymore he is no longer “hungry” for the victory

point is that was the kick ended of the fight, but the elbows paved the way -
it’s not like gonzaga dominated the stand up - there was hardly any stand up in the fight, other than the first kick and the last kick. respect i have to all fighters - not so much to crocop.

in other words i still think he’s no joke - although guys get figured out after a while
like hughs seemed unbeatable but the last time he got KO’d it was he was caught with a head kick (flying knee) but GSP showed that you have to catch him on the chute - and when there is tons of footage you can study it like crazy.
watch for brock to get picked apart since randy gave him some time in the octagon and i think showed some weaknesses

Gonzaga *IS* a joke, he is a huge waste of space in the UFC. Granted Gonzaga will probably beat a ton of worthless bags of flesh that are 6′3 and 230lbs that are bar room brawler styled fighters, but Gonzaga has ZERO gas tank, and I’m tired of him even being compared to top HW’s. Werdum TKO’d him, Randy beat the hell outta him, When he fights top competition he crumbles…
That being said.. Cro Cop is crap. I know I know, he was great in Pride, and he was a great K-1 style Kickboxer, but the man lost his hands somewhere. He’s KO’d so many people with a left high kick that he NEVER throws leather now, he still to this day can’t do a single thing but stall from the ground, and so Dream will ALWAYS stand them up with minimal time on the ground. He is their Kimbo Slice.

But what I meant about Cro Cop being Kimbo was that Dream will pamper him every time the fight hits the ground.. Watch his Overeem fight. It looked like Overeem was simply going for better position and they decided that was a stall and therefore stand it up. Cro Cop is a much better fighter than Kimbo, I don’t want that being the comparison.

I think GG and CC are both better than you give them credit for, though I think your list of people that can beat CC is pretty accurate.
My problem With GG is that he became so over hyped in a totally lack-luster HW division with his KO kick of CC.. Do you remember him before that kick?
His first fight in the UFC was so bad, that Joe Rogan said durring the third round of the fight that he didn’t expect to ever see either combatant in the cage again. The ref had to keep egging the guys to engage because by the end of round 1 they were both so gassed that they nearly put their hands on their knees and gasped for air in between throwing weakened haymakers. Now GG did KO the other slob with a super-man punch, but it was sooo late into the third round that no one really cared other than to say hurray about the fight being over. This is nearly epic of GG. If the fight ends in the 1st GG will usually win due to sub or tko or even ko, he is big and he is strong and he is a good BJJ guy. But if it goes past round 1 he is done for, and in a division with guys like Herring, Nog, Kongo, and Lesnar that just wont cut it at all.
CC to me has let the sport pass him by and lives off of his legacy, thats why i’m done with CC. Mirko use to come in to fights with a raw passion. He was so feared standing that ever opponent wanted it to go to the ground and he use to have a good take down defense, now whether or not it’s because the guys he fought didn’t have superb takedowns is arguable, i think some did in fact, but he was very athletic and always working. Name the last fight you remember watching Cro Cop move with anything that resembled speed or agility? He’s content to let Dream pair him up against guys they think he will KO and if the fight goes to the ground they are SO fast to stand it back up because without Cro Cop, dream has only Gomi and Aoki, who are pretty huge in Japan but doesn’t help to draw a lot of American viewers.
Muaythai, DREAM has a lot of exciting fighters not just Gomi and Aoki o wait Gomi is with WVR/Sengoku, but the LW division in DREAM is rather exciting imo

Marco kept kicking the big dude in the shins until that huge guy collapsed under his own weight.
