- After a bout against Jose Aldo fell through, former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber will instead rematch Jens Pulver at WEC 38 on January 25th in San Diego.
- Former heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum has finally acknowledged his release from the UFC and has his sights set on fighting for Affliction.
News and Notes
- Ranked lightweight Eddie Alvarez will return to action on January 23rd at Extreme Challenge in Atlantic City, NJ against an opponent to-be-announced. Alvarez has also signed with upstart MMA promotion Bellator Fighting Championships, which has a television deal with ESPN Deportes.
- New CSAC assistant executive officer Bill Douglas has temporarily cancelled all drug testing at California MMA events, including Strikeforce: Destruction last Friday in San Jose, while the process is “revamped”.
- Newly crowned WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown’s first title defense is likely to come against Leonard Garcia once Brown recovers from torn cartilage in his ribs suffered in his first-round TKO of former title-holder Urijah Faber earlier this month..
- ProElite is blocking EliteXC welterweight champion Jake Shields from becoming a free agent.

Boy that just goes to show how big of an a** hole Dana White is! I mean the audacity of that F*****g jerk to use the UFC, his status, fighters, money the whole organization for charity. I knew it all along, this guy is nothing but F****D UP.
He will never change! I mean, to think, you actually know what you’re getting when you see Dana White. He can’t say a F*****g sentence without swearing, he is straight forward and has done nothing but work toward legitimizing and progressing mma.

The ufc vip experience sounds really cool…if any of you guys won who would you pick…I dont know who i would pick…But man the ufc 91 fight was hilarious man gets owned by security at 0:29 ..just gets thrown like a rag doll off the ground…u dnt mess with security at a ufc event…lol

Eddie Alvarez is staying busy but damn whynot attempt to get with UFC? Ballitor is who he chose to sign with?? I mean it keeps him busy for 12 weeks and puts his face on ESPN Deportes but I personally would like to see him sign with a ZUFFA org
ESPN finally getting into MMA (albeit on a low type level), perhaps no the commentators will become educated on our sport and we won’t have to hear the bs spuing out of Michail Wilboun and Tony Kornheuser’s mouths(mind u I enjoy PTI for the most til they start talking about MMA then um I wanna vomit)….!
Garcia v Brown well we all saw that happening but that specific fight probably won’t be for some time imo

@ B Free, so are there more words than pictures? Or, is there something more specific? I was a short hair away from ordering. It would be nice to have a little more detail from you other than “sucks”. Elaborate please.
Personally, I dig the “Fighter” book. It’s nearly all pictures with some quotes throughout just showing the fighters. It’s not meant to be an engaging read, but rather something to flip through and talk about.
Plus, they’re supporting MMAFrenzy.com so you can’t bad mouth ‘em haha.
Name issues solved for everyone? I changed it from “Full Name” to “Display Name” so people can change what shows up on their site, but the default display name is simply your username.
More site fixes are upcoming tonight as well, so if you’re running into any problems or have any questions hold off on emailing them to me ’til Friday as I’m already aware of some other minor issues, but am planning on addressing them tonight and will tackle more over the weekend. Thanks to all those who’ve signed up.

I’m thinking about changing my display name since most people don’t really use their real name. The only benefit is that there are probably a million people named Justin in the world. I even know there’s like 200+ on FaceBook with the same first and last name.
Shogun video: Shogun didn’t look that great, but maybe it was the end of practice. Also, where’s the cage? He really needs to be training in a cage.
VIP: Sounds like a really sweet deal, and will probably go for a lot of money. I would probably want to hang out with Matt Hughes, or Forrest Griffin.
Alvarez should have looked to get picked up by Zuffa.
Sucks about ProElite blocking Shields from getting picked up by the UFC…they probably are blocking that because they know he will get picked up by the UFC.

out of all fighters i would love to spend the day with anderson silva. he is so classy. but, as hes fightin over here next it wouldnt be the full experience.so it wud av to b rampage ufc 92. that guy cracks me up
