Anderson Silva To Headline UFC 95 Against Griffin-Evans or Jackson-Silva Loser

Posted by Kris Karkoski on Nov 23, 2008 at 3:17 pm ET64 Comments

Anderson Silva Defeats James IrvinThough a fight against Chuck Liddell is no longer under consideration for UFC 95, Anderson Silva will still headline the February 21st event in London, England.

According to The Sun, Silva, who holds the UFC’s middleweight title, will return to the 205-pound light heavyweight division to meet one of the losers of December’s UFC 92 matchups featuring Forrest Griffin vs. Rashad Evans and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Wanderlei Silva.

As we reported earlier today, Liddell will instead face Randy Couture in the main event of UFC 99 on June 13th in Cologne, Germany.

Liddel/Couture again, i see no purpose for this fight other than a big PPV possibly. It could be exciting to watch but kind of feels like it’s been overdone. It could be hard to get people pumped up for this one again.

  • Us And Chuck says:

Wandi will fight Silva he is a competitor not a Filho :)

If i’m honest i see Anderson loosing to both.

  • Ethan says:

I don’t like this either. I say give him the winner of one of these fights. It’s not like he’s a buzzard that needs to feed on carcasses. This guy is a top level predator and should be in contention for a title shot at 205. I don’t think that any one of those 4 guys are clearly better fughters than A. Silva, in fact he would be a favorite over all of them. Why are we throwing him scraps???

  • Us And Chuck says:

I forgot too add the only name i see Silva beating is Evans

  • dauminator says:

Well I think this means that the winner of Wand/Rampage gets the next crack at the title.

And to answer someone’s question, I read somewhere that Wand will fight Forrest even though they do train together.

  • JOHNBOY says:

forrest an rampage i could see beating silva but wandi an evens will get beat, but ide rather see silva vs wandi then evens.

  • Us And Chuck says:

The main scenario for me that i see Wandi Beating Silva is with in a minute Silva normally takes around a minute plus to get his range so if Wandi steamrolls him like he did with Jardine i see a huge KO.

  • DBiz says:

    Al said:

he won’t fight wanderlei so i reallly hope he fights rampage
    —–
If he refuses a fight, he’s a **** and should be cut.

  • MVG says:

Why feed him the loser? Isnt he supposed to be the #1 p4p guy in the world? Cmon Dana/UFC- give him the winner of Wandy/Jackson or the winner of FOrrest/Gay Evans to really prove to us that Silva is the #1 guy. Then let either one of the winners fight the winner of thiago silva/machida match.

  • fr702 says:

Well Wanderlei is going to be 3~0 v Rampage after Dec 27th, the fight between Evans and Griffin is interesting?? Ok so if Anderson gets Rampage/Evans/Griffin.. Does that mean Wanderlei gets the winner of Lyoto and Thiago for the title shot? As long as Lyoto is still undefeated and headed towards a LHW championship bout Anderson Silva won’t be fighting for the LHW title soon if Thiago wins against Lyoto and say Anderson wins v Rampage/Evans/Griffin he then I would think gets a shot at the belt
    Owell time will tell

DBiz, they aren’t going to cut Anderson Silva, also he has never turned down a fight to my knowledge but it would be weird to see old Chute Boxe teamates fighting each other

  • mikew says:

I think Evans will KO Forrest and Silva will then fight Griffin. I think the guy with the best chance to beat Silva is Evans for his elusive style and quick hard shots. That would be the matchup that would be the most exciting standup fight, but it doesnt seem like an option at this point.

  • KOuch says:

It must be cool to be Anderson Silva. The world of the UFC sort of revolves around him right now. Just my opinion but I feel Anderson will kill Griffin, Evans, Silva and Rampage. This whole situation should just be a way to help earn Silva a title shot at LHW. Silva has the best chance vs Silva but I would honestly like to see Evans/Silva. Evans has a lot of movement/dancing to his style. I would just love to see the moment Anderson cathches Evans with a kick while doing one of his funny swinging duck motions. The cool thing with Forrest/Silva is the fact Griffin can take the best beating in all MMA unless he is knocked unconcious that is. Anyone think Rich Franklin might be thinking, “WTF! F off Silva. You beat me twice, I left the divison, don’t you f-ing follow me you stalker bastard.”

  • mikew says:

Could Silva ever fight HW, is there a chance of a 3 belt holder in the future?

  • mikew says:

Thats funny Kouch, i imagine Franklin is wondering what hell to do now?

  • shane says:

THEY CANT GIVE HIM THE WINNER LIKE FEW OF YOU GUYS ARE SAYING BECAUSE WANDI AND RAMPAGE ARE FIGHTING FOR A #1 CONTENDER AND WILL GET THE NEXT TITLE SHOT, ALSO DONT FORGET A. SILVA HAS ONLY FOUGHT ONCE IN THIS DIVISION HE HAS TO AT LEAST BEAT ONE BIG NAME BEFORE GETTING A TITLE SHOT. AND BESIDES IF HE DID FIGHT THE WINNER HE WOULD LOSE EITHER I WOULD SAY LET HIM TAKE ONE OF THE WINNERS THEN TALK ABOUT A TITLE FIGHT.

CANT HAND ANYONE A TITLE ON A SILVER PLATTER NOT EVEN ANDERSON!

  • surfingk5 says:

    Is Jardine a possiblity???

    Entertaining fights???

  • ufcmanz says:

Funniest comment I just read ” Wanderlei Streamrolling Anderson Silva” what a load of $h!t come on. No one in the Middle weight or Light Heavy weight division has a chance at landing a good shot on Silvas chin plus his chin is titanium at that, you’d have to be blasting at that thing all day. That you through in Silvas hand defense plus his foot work he’s a amazing piece of work, he is going to destroy his next opponent doesn’t matter who it is. That poor performence vs Cote is really on his mind he’s on a mission for his next match, “All out and end it with a Knock Out” I might be as bold as to say Not even anyone in the Heavy weight division has a chance at knocking out A. Silva.!!!!!!!!!=O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” No One”!!!

  • Josh V says:

Okay, okay, UFCMANZ, try to keep it in your pants. He bleeds red just like Lesnar does (surprise, surprise). He’s human. He has weaknesses. He will lose to the right guy, and I truly believe that guy is either Rampage or Wanderlei. Wanderlei doesn’t go down and Rampage has the mentality that NO ONE in the UFC has had against Anderson so far; whoop-ass. No one has ever just went in to the fight in order to literally beat him up. Rampage will, and so will Wanderlei. So let’s just relax a bit before you anoint him as the New Messiah, cause apparently that post has already been filled by our president-elect. Anderson’s not there yet.

Side Note: If you look at GSP’s list of fights and Anderson Silva’s, can you REALLY say that Silva is P4P best fighter in the world?

  • justin says:

I think the deciding factor for A. Silva v. which loser, will be the Rampages/W. Silva fight. That whole Chute Box thing comes into play, and I think that it is really either A. Silva v. Rampage or its A. Silva v. Griffen/Evans If Rampage somehow pulls off a miracle and doesn’t lose to Wandi Dec. 27, then we’ll know that A. Silva is fighting the Griffen/Evans loser.

  • KOuch says:

Dear Mr. Silva, Evans, Jackson and Champion Griffin,

We have some rather bad yet motivating news for the four of you to win your next match. One of the two losers will be facing Anderson Silva. Sucks to be you.

    Sincerely,

    The UFC

  • fr702 says:

    That’s pretty damn funny KOuch

  • T3chn3tnium says:

surprised to see people betting against forrest :| They just didn’t GIVE him the belt….

  • ufcmanz says:

    OH…. Josh V, have you been watching MMA the past year or are you still back in the Pride Days? OK I’ll take your points into consideration, where does Anderson Silva lose to Rampage or Wanderlei to just a few real points. {With facts as my agreement, instead of boneheaded opinion, I’ll try to paint you a picture of how I see this fights}

    Anderson Vs. Rampage: Reach: Anderson, who has the better chin realistly Anderson{Anderson never KO/TKO} but I’ll call it a tie. Harder puncher: Rampage, Technical Strikes/ Foot work: Anderson , Wrestling: Rampage , BJJ: Anderson , Weakness in both guys games, Anderson’s Wrestling which Rampage is 1 of the best at 205. Rampage’s Clinch {Muay Thai} which Anderson is 1 of the best at.I’ll say out of 10 times ,Anderson wins 8/10 Rampage 2/10 {Rampage has very little going for him in this fight ,wrestling to a decision maybe a slam knock out or that 1 big punch to land}

Anderson Vs. Wanderlei: Reach: Anderson, who has the better chin realistly Anderson{Anderson never KO/TKO} but I’ll call it a tie. Harder puncher: Wanderlei ,Technical Strikes/ Foot work: Anderson, Wrestling: Tie ,BBJ: Anderson , Weakness in both guys games, Anderson’s Wrestling Wanderlei’s throwing wild punch’s, I’ll say out of 10 times, Anderson wins 9/10 Wanderlei 1/10 {Why so low you problely thinking? Because everywhere Wanderlei is good /Anderson is a little better, most likely a stand up war , the keys to winning in my mind is Andersons Chin / Reach / Technical Strikes/ Foot work, Muay Thai technically even but with Anderson being the Taller guy its who’s needs lands first kind of deal {mostly Andersons} , But I didn’t exclude the fact Wanderlei is the harder puncher and will problely throw more punch so, he has a punchers chance in this fight , but I see this more like the Leben fight , Shorter Aggressive Striker with good chin having to get on the inside of Andersons reach to land punchs.

Not taking anything away from Rampage or Wanderlei Big Fan of both, This is just how I see both fights going with my explained opinion.

  • Mikew says:

I’d bet more for Forrest if his last 2 opponents were fighting up to there potential when he beat them. I think Forrest has had a rather easy time getting the belt, he wasnt challenged by Rampage who was off for sure and Rua sucked , before that Hector Ramirez. He did what he needed to speed wise and with strikes but still lacks that power other guys have.
I think Silva pick him aprt.

  • Josh V says:

    UFCManz

I can see your points, and I actually do agree with most of them. While I do respect them greatly.

That being said, I have not seen anyone, ANYONE who has truly went after The Spider. No one has come into the fight truly believing in themselves and believing that they’re going to give him a real beating. And that might be because Silva is devastating in most areas of the game; absolutely and I concede that point. BUT it is important to say this: He can be beaten. I firmly believe the way to beat Anderson Silva is to go after him. Hard. Keep him backing up and keep him on the defense. Too many people have let him push them around when they got into the clinch or striking. In regards to the “puncher’s chance”, just ask Liddell and Jardine’s Jaw if Jackson and W. Silva have great punching power. I see your point because he hasn’t lost in the UFC yet, but seriously, my friend….even in the Henderson fight; Henderson rocked him a couple of times with solid uppercuts.

I do not think his chin is made of diamond; I just think it’s very difficult to connect because he’s fast and elusive. Between you and I :) , even as Liddell is my favorite fighter, I don’t think he would beat Silva. But, I do believe the man who comes in ready to “whoop dat ass”, really does have a better chance than someone swinging wild.

Final Thought: Can you answer my question about GSP/Silva P4P?

  • ufcmanz says:

GSP and Anderson Silva. As far as P4P goes I do think Silva Holds a higher rank then GSP because Silva can beat anyone of these guys on GSP record {but because he’s the bigger fight I’ll leave this fact out in calculating Why I think so} none the less GSP record is one of the best. So I’ll add can GSP beat everyone on Silva Record ” can GSP beat a Franklin or a Henderson or Marquardt. When I compare P4P and they are only a weight division apart and with GSP walking around at 200+ at the last UFC event { Not sure if it was last UFC it was on Dana’s Blog anyways } GSP and Silva can really fight each other in a division. So if Silva Vs. GSP were to fight who wins Add it up

Silva VS. GSP – Reach:Silva , who has the better chin :Anderson {No need for me to explain here}, Harder puncher:Anderson, Technical Strikes/ Foot work: Anderson {Why Silva it’s kind of even but I then remembered Silva Muay Thai} ,Wrestling: GSP, BJJ: Tie { Why GSP has good top BJJ ,Not so much off his back, GSP just got his Black belt, but Silva as a good guard and he got his Black belt off Big Nog } where does GSP beat Silva by Submission thats the only chance in my books and the Punchers chance. Silva can win my TKO/KO/Decision/Submission. Why doesn’t GSP win by decision he has a good gas tank right. True but this is a five rounder and Silva wins this hands down in a decision in my opinion, I’ll give GSP the most credit tonight out of 10 times {GSP wins 3/10 Silva 7/10} Silva in my point of view has the Stand up on GSP ,he holds the power/reach/and Muay Thai over GSP, he’s no stacker on the ground may even sub GSP. But if it hits the ground GSP is most likely on top {But then again that switch on Marquardt was sweet} anyways has a good chance of subing Silva if he is outside Silvas guard.

This Decision would of been alot higher If they weren’t in the same organization and only 1 weight class apart, and if there is a possibility of them fighting each other { If you had asked me to compare Big Nog to BJ Penn who do you think is better } that would be a hard one Big Nog 2 loses to fedor by decision, and 1 split decision loss each to Josh Barnnet and Dan Henderson and he always seems to be getting his ass kicked in a fight yet is 31-4-1 record never been Subed or KOed {Heavy Weight division is like 4 weight classes in 1} BJ Penn 13-4-1 Majority decision loss to Pulver/ Split decision loss to GSP/ TKO loss to Matt Hughes / decision loss to Lyoto Machida thats a decision I find hard to make? Try Ranking these two guys.

But with Anderson as a slow starter this could happen read the full comment in future :)

  • Spud says:

They should just have Anderson fight Brock.

  • Kuma says:

I would love to see Silva fight either Forrest Griffin OR Rashad Evans. I feel either fight would be exciting and put Anderson even higher on the scale. He is a true warrior.

  • RyanMoney says:

    Anderson fight Brock? Why? lol

  • Swede says:

Anderson should be fighting the winner, and challenging for the belt. He deserves it more than BJ jumping up to welterweight, BJ lost his last two WW fights and now he gets a shot at the belt??? at least Andersons won his last fight at lightheavy. I’d love to see GSP vs Silva which according to Dana IS going to happen if GSP beats Penn and than Alves. I give GSP a good chance at beating Silva because he’s faster than anyone Anderson’s faced,(ask Fitch)and he has a very aggesive style which would match up well against Silva.

  • wolfman4444 says:

If Vera could fight like before I think he would have the best chance of beating this A.silva fellow. He has good reach.

  • gunslinger says:

anderson would walk through vera…it wouldnt even be a fight….i really dnt think vera was that good even at hw i mean ya who did he really beat that was any good really?….he beat frank mir(who at the time just came back)…….and thats about it of anyone really good except for mike whitehead…..Vera will never win a ufc title in my opinion unless he starts actually trying to be a fighter instead of trash talking all day…..but im not interested really in these fights because i see silva walking through any of these four guys….rampage would be the only fight i would like to see.

  • 2girls2cups says:

honestly with everything A Silva’s done in the octagon, there’s not a whole lot they can do that I would disagree with. The dude’s completely dominated everyone he’s faced including a 205 gatekeeper in James Irvin as well as two guys that have been successful at lhw in franklin and henderson. Given the fact that all the top 205 contenders have a recent loss, I think A Silva’s just as worthy (with the exception of machida and t Silva). They could give him a title shot at 205 and I wouldn’t think it’s out of the question especially given the preferential treatment others have been given. Couture came out of retirement after a loss to fight Sylvia, lidell is being given a no. 1 contenders match at a higher weight class when he’s 1-3 of his last 4 and the guy he’s fighting (couture) just lost.

  • ROB says:

THAT IS REALLY FUNNY!!!!BEING REALISTIC ANY ONE OF THOSE TOP 4 WOULD HAVE A GOOD CHANCE OF DROPPING SILVA. AT LEAST THEY WILL CHALLENGE HIM FOR THE FIRST TIME IN AGES.HIS LAST TWO FIGHTS WERE A JOKE AGAINST WEAK COMPETION. EVANS WOULD BE A SERIOUS ISSUE FOR SILVA AS WOULD GRIFFFIN.I ALSO THINK THAT GSP SHOULD NOT EVEN BOTHER WHOOPIN PENNS ASS AGAIN,.WHAT A WASTE OF A MAIN EVENT CARD

  • RJA says:

Anderson could beat any of them. Not saying he will but he could.I personally would like to see silva/silva matchup, wandi can take a shot as good as anyone, and i would love to see A.silva in a slug fest,if thats even possible.I figure if wandi can take chucks best shot then he might have a chance. Now don’t everybody start chuck bashing,i’m just saying it could be interesting.

  • RJA says:

Oh and i as well think it’s fn stupid that he’s fighting the loser. It’s not fair to anderson or the loser.

  • Josh V says:

    Swede

I agree with you 100%. GSP will hand Silva a very big loss. I see GSP by TKO round 2 due to ground n pound.

  • justin says:

I think he’s probably fighting the loser so that the winners can fight each other. He’ll also probably be next in line after the winner of T. Silva/Machida. Unless Machida wins both, which I doubt.

  • scott says:

just a question for everyone….would you guys think that rashad evans would even stand a chance in any of these fights if he didnt knock out chuck.and if chuck is so washed up like everyone says he is than it shouldnt have been a suprise that liddell got beat.

  • Kuma says:

I love Vera, BUT I dont see him beating Anderson Silva.

  • Kuma says:

Rashad is a true fighter. He is a big threat too anyone he fights. I see that fight going either way. Those guys are just too tough.

  • Kuma says:

And I dont think Chuck is washed up at all. Have alittle respect man.

He just needs to change his game plan. Counterstriking just isnt cutting it anymore like it used to.

  • DBiz says:

    justin said:

I think he’s probably fighting the loser so that the winners can fight each other. He’ll also probably be next in line after the winner of T. Silva/Machida. Unless Machida wins both
    —–
I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it everytime someone brings this up. If Silva is told that he’s fighting a friend and he turns it down, I will call him Anderson “KJ Noons” Silva and demand that he be stripped of his title and cut. This is not a sport for sappy vaginas. Unless we’re talking about Gina Carano.

  • justin says:

I agree that if the UFC tells him to fight Machida, he should. By the same token, I don’t think they will, and I don’t think Machida will get the belt. So Machida will either lose to T. Silva or in his title shot, then Anderson can get a shot at the LHW belt. Without having to fight Machida, problem solved.

  • fr702 says:

DBiz my friend I understand that u are very firm on your stance of calling Anderson Silva “KJ Noons”, difference is that KJ and Nick dislike one another are in the same weight class and KJ ducked a rematch putting up his title against Nick because he didn’t feel like Nick deserved the shot
The UFC isn’t asking for Silva to put up his title against his friend nor are they even in the same weight class, I believe that Silva wants Machida to fight for the title first (if he gets the shot) because that is the weight class that he has been fighting in, Silva only has 1 fight in the LHW division that doesn’t exactly warrant a title shot (beating Irvin), when Machida is undefeated and beaten better opponents, sooo let Silva face the loser bracket and work his way up to the title picture while defending his MW championship and if Anderson beats let’s say Rampage then perhaps a title shot in 2009, but KJ Noons Anderson Silva is not…cheers

  • Kanga says:

Why the hell doesn’t Anderson get a title shot at 205??? BJ Penn defends the lightweight belt once and gets a shot at the welterweight belt? Not to mention BJ lost his last 2 fights at welterweight. Silva has wrecked havoc in the Middleweight division and still he has to win 2 fights at light heavy before getting the title shot.

BJ must have have taken his name literally with UFC management.

  • scott says:

    Kuma

im not the one saying he’s washed up everyone else is. i have been defending him this hole time.Chuck is still one of my favorite fighters and he always will be.that dudes a sniper, and for anyone to say that he’s washed up and an old fart and should just retire is a fool.i’ll put money on it that Chuck comes back and wins his next figt no matter who it is.i just hope it’s Anderson Silva. i don’t really want to see him lose but if he had to lose to somone i would like to see Liddell be the one who does it.but it would be more entertaining to see him KO Lesnar.

and Anderson Silva vs Brandon Vera would be a sick fight, but i think it would be a bad night for Vera, evethough Vera is one of the best all around fighters in the division.

you know what else would dope….Chuck Liddell vs Brandon Vera.
somebody would for sure get KO’d in that one.

  • UFC fan says:

he probaly will fight loser of wanderlei and rampage because if he beats the loser of the titl guys he would go to title eve though he doesnt want even though i think he would win light heavy wieght title because he to fast for any body

  • UFC fan says:

and i hope forrest and wanderlei win

  • dbiz says:

fr, Silva has basically said he won’t fight any ChuteBoxe guys. If he is told to fight one of them (direct friend or not, regardless of weight class) and he refuses, he is KJ Noons. There is no rationalizing it.

He opened this up with his foray into LHW. Now he’s making a second. Clearly he intends to fight there regularly. In that case, fight who they set you up with or get the hell out of the sport. The UFC has repeatedly said they weren’t interested in vaginas in the octagon. If he wants to be one, kick him to WEC.

  • scott says:

thats easy to say for us cause were not in that situation, but if i sweated, cryed, bleed, and trained with one of my best freinds…im not sure how i would feel about fighting one of them.i would have to sit down and talk to them and let em know that it needs to be done to see who the best in the world really is,and why not make some good money while doing it.

im just saying that i can see why they dont want to fight each other.
but if they can figure it out then good let em fly!!!!

  • Kuma says:

    Chuck is the maing.

Vera and Liddell would be pretty sweet. Id tune into that for sure.

I was rooting for chuck when he fought Evans. It hurt me deep inside to see chuck fall like a ragdoll. Nonetheless. He will be back.

  • jim says:

all the talk about a. silva at lt. hvy… what about putting someone in against him thats not a punching bag! lets see him fight D. Maia… hes undefeated and mark my word! he will submit A.Silva!!

i’m starting to think official weigh in should be an hour before the fight.
because it should be about fighting in your REAL weight class – NOT WHO IS GENETICALLY FIT FOR CUTTING WEIGHT.

gsp, and ANDERSON have obviously had ancestors who survived drought or something.

ALSO if couture refuses to retire we will need age catagories too.
    i’m joking , or am i?

  • russiandoeboi says:

anderson should be fighting guys like, chuck, couture (or his son ha ha), evans, forest, fedor, brock, jardine, jackson.

if hogun ever makes it back into his former awesomeness – that would be pretty

UFC’s best division is by far it’s LHW’s

i’m impressed with dana’s balls to let spider fight LHW because he is maybe UFC’s best claim for P4P champ.

  • mike says:

wandi will ko rampage again evans will beat forrest evans is the most underrated fighter in that divison anderson beats everyone but would have the most trouble with rashad since he is the best wrestler the only guy thats going to be able to beat anderson is St Pierre since gsp would take him down and he would be able to keep him there. i say you just give anderson kimbo since kimbo doesnt know what a take down is and kimbo would have a punchers chance but thats not going to happen sooo anderson is just **** out of luck he should just kill every body and stack up his billlsss

  • jasonah says:

All the fight’s chuck should have are way to risky @ this point. He’s the biggest Cash cow for the U.F.C They don’t want him to lose another Fight.I hate to say it, Randy’s going to kick Chucks ass this time.As we all see that,Randy’s Boxing/Kick boxing has Improved greatly.I see Him standing with Chuck and just picking him apart with stikes.Randy by T.K.O early in the Third round, Maybe the second Round.let’s face it chuck Lidell has not advanced his skills at all.And all these other fighters are trying to Improve constantly. As far as A.silva goes,There is abunch of **** going on with these brazillian fighters.Wandy wont fight anderson,Anderson wont fight Filo,Filo wont fight Wandy,Anderson won’t fight Loyoto.Any of these Chute box members will not fight each other.Wandy would not fight T.Silva =Chute box.As “Forrest Griffin Said It takes a special set of skills to beat a guy Like Wanderlie”And we no Anderson is More fearsome than Wanderlie. His Mauy THai is way better and He does have a legit black belt,Under Nogeira. Not awarded by the Graice’s in a hype Event for black belt Magazine.

  • s tocker says:

i think a gsp sliva match shud def. be in the process because we really need to know how good anderson silva is i mean i like the guy hes classy but i mean look at the ww div. its stacked and gsp has beat the best of them with great conviction and the mid. div. was silva and franklin then….who really? lets be real the middleweight div is by far the least stacked div. out there he needs to fight some one new who will stylistictly challenge him
i mean franklin was an awesome match up for him i wanna see gsp or evans really push him but off the disappointing match with cote hes gotta be hyped up but he needs better competition

  • jparker says:

It would be appropriate to give Anderson a title shot, or at least the winner of the Rampage/Wanderlei Fight. After all, Lesner lost to Mir, beat Herring and was then up for the Title.

I believe Anderson could KO or submit anyone in the Light heavy weight division. He submitted Dan Henderson quite easily and Hendo went 5 rounds with Rampage. This is clearly evidence that Anderson is the better fighter. The man is just too fast, too strong, and too good for anyone. He has been training Muay Thai since age 14 and he has superior reach and height advantage. He has never been knocked out and his only loses came by decision, Flying scissor heel hook, Triangle Choke, and disqualification.

Anderson’s only weakness is his wrestling which he obviously does not need because he resorts to knocking his opponents down first. He is extremely comfortable on his back and he has by far the best striking/Mauy Thai in the UFC.

The whole notion that GSP could defeat Anderson is ridiculous. Anderson has the reach, power, height, size, and skill to easily TKO GSP. That being said, I am a huge GSP fan, but there is no way realistically he could beat Silva.

My prediction – Anderson Silva will have the Light heavy weight title by July 2009.

On more thing; If I were fighting the Spider, I would practice the flying scissor heel hook day and night!

  • s tocker says:

hey i agree with almost everything you’ve said and im not doubting anderson’s skill he is def. one of the best in the world but you have to acknowledge that gsp has beaten way better opponents than silva has i mean the greatest welterweight ever..twice with ease and every time you see him hes better than before hey i’m silvas biggest fan but i do wanna see him fight the best out there and i saw in a interview that he said he is retiring after his contract is up silva is amazing i agree but saying that its ridiculous that gsp could beat silva is a stretch gsp has lost it and gotten it back and is stronger than ever and is at full strength and theres only one way to find out who’s better let em go at it! if he beats penn in jan the match up shud def. be in the works.

  • mmaaddict says:

silva vs evans for the title if silva wins it will solidify him as the greatest fighter ever
