Like most debates this one will go nowhere fast. Was Kimbo overrated!? Yes.
Did he deserve to accolades he received!? No. These things are factual. If any of us were in the position he was in you'd take the opportunity. I know i would. What the people around him did wrong was use his name to catapult him into a league of trained athletes. He is coming from backyard brawls. He has a great deal of heart and determination, i give him that. Now i do not see him being able to enter MMA again. Dana White himself said he'd give him the opportunity but he'd have to work for it. Fight real fighters from the ground up. Brock in my opinion and i stress on the word Opinion because like assholes ...everyone's got one(or at least should..lol). Brock is a completely different animal. Was he hyped up for entrance into MMA. Of Course. His skill and popularity in the WWE cross-over. So whoever wasn't a fan of MMA was now a fan becaue Brock has now enter the octagon. His level of skill is above and beyond a Kimbo Slice. Even though he is coming from a business where u pull your punches so to speak. You cannot deny that he fights with alot of heart and alot of wit. His only loss which had to come by submission was to Frank Mir. Frank was getting his ass handed to him. He was smart ...grab a limb and don't let go. I think Brock has only touched the surface. I think he has alot more to offer MMA and time will tell.

Fedor will never set foot in the UFC. It would require fighting more than once or twice a year and he couldn't do his sambo tourneys in Europe or fight freak show artists in Japan.

really no one can say it wasnt fair, or lesnar didnt deserve the title shot, randy himself was one of the people who won the hvywt title with under 10 fights to his record... not only that, he agreed to fight in the heavyweight div. because it was so "thin", and now with a person like lesnar who is a TRUE heavyweight... people still bitch and complain about every little thing they can... lesnar may not have deserved the shot AHEAD of many of the heavyweights, but if you go in there and beat the current champ, especially being that it was the legendary Randy Couture... then how could anyone say you didnt belong in there on that night?

Brock never asked for the fight, it was presented to him. How could he turn it down? Tim Silvia had the same weight advantage on Randy, so it wasn't just the weight. A superheavyweight division is a real possibility, but I'd start it at 265. (Although I can't recall more than a hand full of fighters bigger than that - a few from the early days of the UFC, but none of them would be serious competitors.)

Marcus ... you have a point though I don't see there being enough talent at that size to sustain an entire division.

I thought the same thing during the fight... Couture v Lesnar is like Chuck Liddell v Clay Guida.

The UFC could go super-heavy if they would ACTIVELY SEEK HEAVYWEIGHTS. How long since a heavyweight TUF? Have they made serious passes at Overeem? Have they tried to get AA back?

The UFC doesn't need more middleweights. They don't need more lightweights. They may need a couple more welters, and one or two light heavies. They need a lot more heavyweights and they refuse to find them.

I'm on the verge of saying disband the whole division.

All I am going to say is how did that chump kimbo even get brought up. It is stuff like that which made it possible for that bum to enter mma because people always compare him to real fighters where his name should not be mentioned. Kimbo wouldn't beat a game ww from the ufc let alone a hw and to compare him even just with lesner is a joke. Anyways the mw division is looking much better maybe silva will stick around for a while all in all great card with some great fights.

when Royce Gracie fought Dan Severn i believe the weight difference was in the neighborhood of 60+ lbs i believe

and if you did a super heavy @ 240 and up, will then complain when Mark Hunt comes in @ 275 and Zulhino comes in @ 300+ and fight GG who came in at 240 or so to fight these guys is that unfair too?

Brock did what he had to do go down to 265 to fight in the HW division and make the fight legal, Randy could have packed on more weight or whatever but i thought he did pretty darn well then he got clipped so be it the bigger guy won, but he didnt win just because he is big, he won because he connected and went to hammerfist the shhhhh out of Randy it is what it is

Markus J,
1. it was 56 lbs. Lesnar weighed himself at 276 before walking into the cage.
2. People complain about how thin Heavyweight is now...it would be even worse with a super heavy weight division.
3. Randy had around 400 days to put on muscle knowing that he would be fighting at heavy weight when he came back.
4. The rules are the rules, and the fighters agree to the rules when they sign the contract. If they don't think its fair, then they shouldn't sign the contract. Obviously Randy still thought he could beat Brock with the weight difference.
5. Royce Gracie beat guys with similar weight advantages in the early UFCs.
