Heavyweight Alistair Overeem was in action over the weekend, submitting Gary Goodridge via first-round kimura in the Netherlands in a tune up for his rumored New Year’s Eve rematch with Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic.
In other notable action, top ten featherweight Rafael Assuncao stopped Miletich-trained Joe Pearson with strikes just twelve-seconds into the opening round of their headlining bout at Ironheart Crown XII “Resurrection” on Saturday in Chicago.
Randy Couture’s son, Ryan Couture, successfully made his amateur MMA debut over the weekend, defeating Ricky Perez via first-round triangle choke.
