Mike Brown Tops WEC 36 Medical Suspensions
Newly crowned WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown topped the list of seven WEC 36 fighters who were issued medical suspensions by the Florida State Boxing Commission as a result of Wednesday’s event at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Brown, who upset title-holder Urijah Faber via first-round TKO in the WEC 36 main event, has been suspended indefinitely after suffering torn cartilage between his ribs during the bout. Brown, who had to be helped out of the octagon as a result of the injury, is expected to be out of action for 4-6 weeks and will require a doctor’s clearance before being cleared to fight.
Faber, Jens Pulver, Nissen Osterneck, Jonathan Brookins, and Rafael Dias all received 30 day precautionary suspensions from the commission as a result of their technical knockout losses.
David Avellan, who was knocked out in just 18-seconds by Aaron Simpson, has been suspended for 60 days for precautionary reasons.

talk about puttin your body on the line!
That must have been the most painful hand raise in history
Wow he was really hurt. Very surprised Faber went down, but at least he let Brown know he was in a fight.
Hope he gets better soon for a rematch.
they lifted his right hand and it’s a rib on his laft side. Still painfull none the less, i popped a rib out of my sternum once. It hurt to breath for a week.
That was a SICK knockdown. Lifted Faber right off his feet and dumped him on his head. Incredible shot.
i just watched the fight. i couldn’t find where he hurt his rib. after he knocked him out he got up threw his hands up. his team came over then all of a sudden he grabbed his side and told them to back off. weird, it would suck if his corner hurt him..
