Martin Kampmann To Drop To Welterweight, Signs New Four-Fight Deal With UFC

Martin Kampmann has signed a new, four-fight deal with the UFC and will drop from the 185-pound middleweight division to the 170-pound welterweight division, according to his agent, Ken Pavia, who confirmed the news with Five Ounces of Pain.
Kampann emerged as a potential middleweight contender, racking up nine-straight victories including four UFC wins over Crafton Wallace, Thales Leites, Drew McFedries, and Thales Leites, but was defeated by Nate Marquardt via first-round TKO at UFC 88 in September prompting his move to welterweight.
“The Hitman’s” next fight has not yet been announced.

I enjoy Kampmann and moving to WW I think is a good idea he seemed rather small for MW

Agreed, Nate was just to big and strong for him and it really showed. He should be a immediate contender at WW. Many good match ups for him in this weight class. I can’t wait to see who he fights first. I think I would want to see him vs Diego first,

Ya Shogun hasn’t foughten over a year its a pretty sorry ass deal and now he is coming back to fight Coleman (o the drama, well only if people know/remember what happend between him and Coleman HammerHouse v Chute Boxe back in PRIDE days)

i didn’t want him to move down, nate is like the top guy at 185 at this moment (bar silva of course). maybe he can fill in for kos at fight for the troops? but him and snachez would be a good match up for him, i think kampmann would win tho

Filho vs the UFC LHWs!!!! F-ing cool. It is very cool of Filho to hand the belt over even though it means **** now. It is at the least a way he can show good sportsmanship for F-ing up the fight. He ruined the title match and preformed horribly.

On the EPL tip my boys won 2~1 today sooo hells ya I’m pretty pumped about that
I really like Kampmann but I agree. He is in two divisions that have dominant champions right now. I have always thought him to be a little small for MW, but also he really hasn’t looked the same at all since his knee injury. I know he still wears a fairly large brace so I’m thinking it’s not 100%. He’s still a great striker with great transitions and he’s smart and from a good camp so we’ll have to see.
Kampan is going to be sick for the ww division. He will definately move up the rankings.
