Though many have criticized the legitimacy of Brock Lesnar as the top heavyweight contender and challenger for Randy Couture’s title, the former professional wrestler, while admiring Couture as a fellow-athlete, has tuned out the doubts and remains focused on defeating the UFC hall of famer and capturing the heavyweight belt on November 15th at UFC 91.
“There are guys I admire as athletes and Randy Couture is one of them. He’s a legend in MMA and it is an honour to get to fight him so early in my career. It’s a huge fight, the biggest fight of the year, period. But all I am thinking about is November 15 and ramming my size XXXXL gloves into his mouth,” said Lesnar to The Sun. “When I joined the UFC, Dana White told me I would be fighting the very best fighters in the world, that I would get no tomato cans. That’s why I wanted in — I don’t want to fight bums. I will leave that deal to other sports.”
Lesnar is 1-1 in his UFC career, losing to former heavyweight champion Frank Mir in his UFC debut at UFC 81 in February before rebounding with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Heath Herring at UFC 87 in August.
