WEC Planning Reality Series for 2009
World Extreme Cagefighting will take a page from the playbook of its sister promotion the UFC and launch a reality series in 2009, with the series likely to focus on the bantamweight (135-pound) and featherweight (145-pound) divisions not currently featured in the UFC.
The news comes from WEC vice president Peter Dropick in a recent interview with MMA Weekly.
“From the beginning it (a reality show) was something always in our plans,” said Dropick. “Versus, we’re in discussions with Versus. We’re looking right now at trying to figure out what we’re going to do exactly. We’ve got a lot of ideas We want to find ways similar to the UFC to showcase our fighters on a more consistent basis. I don’t know if we’ll do exactly what the UFC did with The Ultimate Fighter, but we do have plans for a reality show of some nature. Possibly soon and launching in 2009.”

Hopefully that do at least *as good* of a job as the UFC. (Though we will all likely admit the UFC could do better.

Doing a TUF style show with 135 and 145 is kinda awesome imo, because Torres and Faber are running out of people to destroy… even tho they both have tough fights ahead if they retain their belts they need “new meat”…. should be interesting..

If Faber and Torres were coaches leading into a PPV super fight between the two that would be badass. I think it’s a good move.

Gun I understand what u mean, yet the problem lys in the simple fact that after this match the WEC MW division is going to be disolved into the UFC, soo no matter what happens tomorrow win/lose Filho will be the final MW champ in the WEC
