HDNet Purchases Remaining IFL Assets

HDNet this week received court approval to complete its acquisition of the remaining assets of the International Fight League, a publicly traded team-based MMA promotion which effectively closed in June following the cancellation of a scheduled August 15th event before ultimately filing for bankruptcy in September.
For $650,000 HDNet acquired all intellectual property owned by the IFL, including their video and image libraries, the “Hex” fighting surface, and the promotion’s website, IFL.tv, as well as other miscellaneous assets.
The majority of the IFL’s fighters, including Chris Horodecki, Roy Nelson, Dan Miller, Ryan Schultz, Jay Hieron, and Wagney Fabiano, have all found new promotions to call home since the IFL folded earlier this year.

That’s an awful lot of money for a bunch of ****……hmmmm….what am I missing here?
I guess they want to be able to do re-airs, as well as possible sell the right to re-airs later. Could be worth 650k, I dunno.

Video library and trademarked fighting surface could pan out to be worth 650K. They really got that stuff cheap. All videos and images of the IFL over its existence for 650K?
Hell, that’s less than the salary payouts of one average fight card. Licensing out the video footage to other promotions that want to use it to hype a fighter will bring at least that much. Total steal.
Hell, theoretically, they can re-launch the IFL with what they’ve got. Wish I’d remembered that in my original comment.

Maybe they plan on replacing the HDNet Fights they threw a couple of times last year. I’ve been looking forward to more of those, so hopefully this will get them going on throwing more self promoted events.
