UFC Roundup: Liddell’s UFC 76 Opponent Reveled, The UFC Coming to Hawaii Next Year, and More

- Spike TV is reportedly close to signing a deal with the UFC for extended broadcast rights with the UFC. Te deal includes more events for the cable network than it has previously shown as well as for additional seasons of The Ultimate Fighter reality show.
- UFC internet searches are down significantly following UFC 71 according to Yahoo!. We really needed a report to tell us this? UFC 71 was simply HUGE while UFC 72 and UFC 73 were relatively small in comparison. You can read the full report here.
- Jason Lambert will return to action at UFC 76 to take on Wilson Gouveia.
- Luke Cummo has announced on his website that he will be fighting at UFC Fight Night 11 against a yet-to-be-named opponent.
- Kenny Florian’s next UFC fight will likely be this November at UFC 78 in New Jersey.
- Wanderlei Silva has responded to comments that he ducked Chuck Liddell saying the UFC offered him the fight for September and November and he agreed to a November bout. So you’re telling me the UFC pulled the plug on the most hyped match in MMA history? Seems unlikely.
- Chuck Liddell will face Keith Jardine in the main event of UFC 76. Chuck Liddell recently stated he could potentially fight in both September and November meaning if Liddell wins his match against Jardine or is not seriously injured his match against Wanderlei could still happen in November.
- The UFC is planning on holding an event in Hawaii next year at Aloha Stadium. It will be the UFC’s first outdoor event. Both B.J. Penn and Kendall Grove are rumored to be fighting at the event.

dont you think Jardine is way out of league fighting Liddel? Didnt he just get KTFO?
Sean Sherk won't move higher in the LW rankings if he doesn't start challenging top 10 guys from his division. UFC does not have many top fighters at the LW. Look at Hero's. They are stacked. Gomi knocks out Sean Sherk in the 1st round. As long as Gomi competes against the best, he would not have to worry about losing that 1st spot to Sherk (overrated).
onassis: Didn't Liddell just get KTFO?
Anyways, seeing Chuck fight Jardine and then Silva 2 months later would be nice. But I just don't see it happening. I see that fight happening on the New Year's Eve card.
How do you become a star? You K1TFO! If I remember correctly, Chuck just came off an F-Knocked Out of Him fight also, so I think this will be an interesting fight. I think before Liddel lost the title(and Jardine got KOed of corse) The UFC was planning on Jardine getting a shot at the belt.
Fair enough ,,I think the fight is gonna be a a slugfest and definately exciting. Im just saying that Liddel is one of the most recognizable figures in the ufc. You fight him, you're set. Dont you think there are more worthy apponents in line more worthy like Rashad, Dan Henderson, or Silva…
CHUCK WILL DESTROY KEITH HE DOES NOT STAND A CHANCE BUT IT WILL BE AWESOME TO SEE CHUCK KNOCK HIM THE F@#$ OUT
Liddell vs Jardine is the main event? Only if it's free would it be for me.
If BJ is in contention for the LW title againts Sherk, then Sherk will soon be out of the picture. After Bj cleans up the LW division, He needs to take care of Hughes and go for the welterweight title.
Matt Hughs won't be there when BJ gets there. After Franklin loses to Silva again, Matt Hughs will move up in weight, and unsuccessfully try to beat Silva up for his little brother Rich.
P.S. I am still a big fan of both Franklin and Hughs, but the sport is evolving, do to fighters like them both, but the skill level of the new wave of fighters entering the octagon is un-matched by the champions of yesterday. In another 2yrs. the evolution will make champions like Fedor, and Silva yesterdays news.
There is going to be a lot of interesting things that are going to happen between lightweight, welterweight, and middleweight. Perhaps by the end of the year Penn could be a welterweight and Hughes could jump to middleweight and things are going to be real interesting.

they need liddell he brings in alot of cash and they cant have him loosing to wand like he wiil right now they need to let liddell stomp someone and let him get some up time niether liddell nor the ufc can afford to let liddell lose 2 times in a row
also rashad would get a shot way f***in before kieth
Im not a big fan of the Militich but I guarantee that Penn wants that third match w Hughes. He had that second fight in the bag and gassed out. Its not a secret that Hughes is no match for Penn and thats just unfinished business for Penn.. Franklin looks like he wants out of this fight. And understandably so…Silva is no joke!!!
Cant wait til Fedor comes in and clean house!!
Who, in their right mind wouldn't pay to watch Keith Jardine get his a@@ handed to him by Chuck Liddell?! I, for one, would pay double!!
I am looking forward to Fedor as well. It will just change the entire UFC I think, for the better of course.
I think Chuck will win too but it could be a good challenge for him which is what he needs to receive a shot at the title.
