1) No one here is kissing anyone’s butt.
2) I’ve not tried to look, but I’m not sure how many insurance companies would insure professional fighters. Also, as far as I can tell, UFC fighters are contract employees, so they probably get a 1099, not a W2 at the end of the year. I’m not sure how many people that work under that type of arrangement get health care from the employer, I know I didn’t when I worked in that type of arrangement. Maybe someone else on here can give their knowledge on this.
3)Most people that want to get further in their respective company tend to suck up/kiss butt at least a little. I think Dana does respect the fighters in his organization, and the one’s that don’t bad mouth him or his organization. Also, that “contempt” you think he shows for prospective fighters could just be his bluntness in saying “I don’t think this guy is really that good.” Which is no different from people on here challenging the people that have anointed Bisping as the Silva Slayer by saying he still hasn’t shown that he’s that good.

I’m simply just opinionated and have no first hand knowledge.

@Jimmy…All I can think is that Dana acts like a regular guy. He’s a businessman that’s knows how to market and legitimize mma. As opposed to the jack offs at Elite XC or as I like to call it the wwexc. Those are the suits that say one thing and do another. They are the crooks and the ones that take advantage of the fighters. Dana seems to take care of the fighters that take pride in fighing in the UFC…His freakin company.

Jimmy, I think you need to re-evaluate your position. Especially in this crowd. Otherwise you’ll be forced to be entertained by a musing from Justin again…which most would enjoy reading over other stuff and things…I lost my thought…died of loneliness…oh well

However, you guys are missing my point.

1)There is no need for you to kiss Dana’s butt. He is arrogant enough already!

2)It does not take too much money for a large company like the UFC to provide things like health care to their fighters (especially those fighters who desperatly need it). It would be a very SMALL expense for a rich company like the UFC. In fact it is the UFC’s own interest!

3)Dana White is ignorant with regards to treatment of many fighters (who actually do the fighting). Dana SIMPLY does not have respect for many of the fighters and he treats many of them like a piece of meat. Most UFC fighters must kiss Dana’s butt if they want to go far in the UFC. Dana often insults other fighters who disagree with him and he often insults fighters who are NOT in the UFC. Dana even shows total contempt to many prospective mma fighters as well.

Do I think competition is bad? No. Am I glad that the UFC has competition? Yes. Am I glad that the competition that has gotten the most interest has been T-Shirt guy and the Shaws? Not at all. Do I think that the UFC still has some growing to do, and that there are improvements that will need to be made? Absolutely. But lets think about this, the NFL got its original beginnings over 100 years ago. Are the players treated better today than they were then? absolutely. Are they treated better today than they were 10 years ago? absolutely. The last “legitimate” competitor to the NFL was over 20 years ago.(XFL was a joke) MMA is only 15 years old, and its current form is around a decade old, it will take time for the athletes in the UFC to get paid on the level of athletes in other sports, but it will come. You can’t bankrupt the organization trying to pay the fighters “what they deserve” (cough Affliction cough ProElite cough) and really do any benefit to them in the long run. If you do that, then where do they fight? Do they just bounce around from failing organization to failing organization until the sport dies?

Just think before you go itching and moaning about how terrible of a person Dana White is, and how terrible Zuffa is because they “don’t pay their fighters enough.”

Dana White is a greedy corporate wolf in a regular joe’s clothing. He pretends to be the common man by swearing and talking like a tough guy! We should not buy all of his B.S.!

The point is he doesn’t care that much for most of the fighters (who are human beings) and he treats many of them like pieces of meat. Dana wants to be the only MMA show out there, so he can call all of the shots. Dana wants to be the NBA or NFL of MMA.

On one side of his mouth, you hear Dana White (and Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg for that matter) talking about MMA and the spirit of Martial Arts and the class of the Artists etc, and on the other side you hear the filth that comes out of Dana White’s mouth! I understand that Dana is trying to appeal to some of the “Joe Six-packs” who relate to this. In the meantime, Dana believes his own B.S. and he acts like he’s some infallible, holier-than-thou jerk.

If Dana does wants the UFC to be like the NBA of MMA and if he did care about all of the fighters, then he would at least provide his fighters with year round health benefits. There are many other things that he would do for fighters (i.e. respect all fighters in the UFC and all fighters OUTSIDE of the UFC) if he cared about them. That’s one of the reasons why so many people have a problem with Dana.
