EliteXC Formally Cancels November 8th Event, Confirms Closing
EliteXC Manager of Fight Operations JT Steele on Tuesday informed Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer via email that the promotion was canceling its November 8th event scheduled for November 8th in Reno, Nevada.
The email also officially confirmed that ProElite, Inc., the parent company of EliteXC, ceased operations on Tuesday.
MMAFrenzy.com was forwarded a copy of the email for publication.
The decision to close was first made public on Monday evening when MMAFrenzy.com learned from sources that fighters and employees were informed earlier in the day that the company would be shutting down.

I just left you a voicemail with the unfortunate confirmation that the November 8, 2008 EliteXC event will be cancelled. It is with great regret that I must also inform you that ProElite, Inc. will be closing our operation today. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

rogers is most likely a one trick pony. he is 8-0 and the most notable name he has faced is james thompson. all of the wins were due to strikes against “never has/never will be’s”. i’m not sure he would stand a snowballs chance against even a “b” level bjj fighter? i would watch him pound on kimbo for 5k+5k, though. it wont be in the ufc, however!
whoa… i just checked on brett rogers opponent’s records. they are a combined 43-52-0! he may not be as good/average as some previously thought? one (chris clark) was 5′6″/125lbs with a 7-28-0 record. rogers is 6′5″/ 265! not that it matters i just found it funny…
Kevin Ferguson is off to Japan I would ala “the next Bob Sapp”… I too am wondering if he will show his true colors and just leave MMA (because no one will pay his ass 500g’s to fight) or if he will just walk away
I also wonder if by closing if ProElite will pay their fighters the remaning balances of the paydays (if there are any)

Elite going under is such a good thing to me. Last week I told some of you I called a radio station angry because one of the hosts has been bashing MMA for about a year now. Ralph Barbieri’s(the host)knowledge does not go any further than taking a 3 minute peak at Elite XC’s first presentation on CBS. Unfortunately, Ralph is not alone and many many many many people were exposed to MMA through the eyes of Elite XC. NOT GOOD! CBS must feel f-ing stupid as **** right now. They could have made it easy on themselves by making a deal that benefited the UFC and their ratings would be way higher, the talent would be way better and CBS would not be freaking out with programming to fill an empty slot. F the Shaw family. I feel better now.

Guys remember awhile ago when ProElite/ElitleXC jumped in with CBS to have the first “national tv deal” and most people were ****ing and moaning about why couldn’t ZUFFA get a deal done with CBS or HBO or anyone for that matter, ProElite makes it look soo easy…
Well my friends this is the exact reason why ZUFFA & the UFC didn’t give up their rights to their company just to get a “national tv deal”, love or hate Dana White I don’t care but realize he is a good businessman and he does a extreme amount for his “brand” and MMA as a whole

I definitely don’t blame Dana for not selling part of the company, or wanting to relinquish any control to CBS just get the TV deal. This is also a lot of the reason he didn’t make the deal with HBO, they wanted control of the “production” of the live events.
I was talking to my dad yesterday about ProElite closing up and I told him that the Shaws were old boxing promoters, he said “No wonder they were trying to fix fights, and no wonder they went under.”
every1 has to start some were guys rodgers hasn’t had top contenders but if i was dana ide take a gamble on him maybe give him a 2 fight contract, the guy does has good stand up, put him against jake o’brian see were hes at, cos i have noticed he looks alot more in shape to what he used to,

i was reading at sherdog an interview with kimbo’s manager .. take a few minutes and read it when you have time. paints a picture that might change your opinion of Kimbo slightly . he sounds like a guy who just wanted to fight …. thats cool with me .Even states that Dana and kimbo have met several times in the past to work something out … dana wanted him to fight on a TUF show to get into the UFC , but kimbo and his manager wanted to just get into UFC right away . And thats not a bad thing ,it shows he wanted to fight good fighters .Its elite that made it out to be what it was ..And they said that CBS would hold their own fight night on saturdays or someone new is taking the spot , but they wont stop the fightts from being aired one way or another .Things are gonna be just fine .

kimbo’s done. ufc has no reason to pick him up ever since petrazelli, a ufc washout and 206 pounder, ko’d him in 14 secs. the only reason they would’ve picked him up is to embarrass him and elite, but elite’s already done so there’s no point in that, and no one in the ufc is gonna do anything worse to him than what seth did so it wouldn’t make sense. plus, as much as dana’s has a disliking for the guy, he and the fertida’s are way too smart to let any personal emotion dictate business decisions. also, i doubt that affliction will touch him since he’s a tapout sponsored fighter and affliction is getting a reputation for having a good hw class, why bring in a guy that they know will lose?
as for the other fighters, i wish them the best. hopefully they’ll land somewhere else but in all reality, i think this is the end for quite a few. maybe they’ll have a shot at making it onto a season of TUF.

Now the question is … who’s gonna open the next MMA org ? The hardest part would be coming up with a name . most of the names have been used already and flopped .Origionality is the key and it has to be cool with a marketable logo . Anyone got a suggestion for the next promo’s name ?

the ufc will not take Woman’s so if dana is reluctant to bring probably the next stage in the sport to the ufc then he should put the division in the WEC it would bring new audience’s to the wec and seaming how the ufc owns the org they dont have to worry about competition and if it proved to be big it could easily be move over, it would be perfect! what do you think
M3, ZUFFA owns the WEC, not UFC owns the WEC both orgs have the same owners yes but I’m done with that aspect its semantics
I think that the women will be going to StrikeForce simply because they have a exsiting womens MMA division, yet if ZUFFA would allow women to join into the WEC that would be fantastic I think it would be a great fit forsure
