Michael Bisping and Chris Leben both successfully made weight today at the National Indoor Arena in Birminham, England for their UFC 89 headlining middleweight clash. Bisping tipped the scales at 185 pounds while Leben weighed in at 186 pounds.
All other fighters participating on the card, including main card fighters Brandon Vera, Keith Jardine, Luiz Cane, Rameau Sokoudjou, Chris Lytle, Paul Taylor, Marcus Davis, and Paul Kelly, also made weight.

Bisping will win on points against Leben. As long as he can stay away from Chris Lebens big haymakers then Bisping will win the fight. Leben has 2 finish off Bisping as I believe that Bisping is a better technical fighter and would pick Leben off at range. Good luck Michael son. Britain is behind you.

First who has Leben fought thats any good – Silva and we all saw 49 sec of that. Leben is 18-4-0 with only one good Opponent fought – he lost to average fighters Starnes, MacDonald….
Bisping is 16-1
He should have got at least a draw with Evans(who just proved what kind of knockout power he has) and what I consider a draw(not a win) with a game Hammil. Dont forget he won his first title fight easily at Cage Rage and no one gave him a hope in hell. Since than finished most of his fights in round one
Lots of people seem not to like Bisping for strange reasons. Question will be answered on Saturday night and I for one will be watching LIVE to see the Count silence all theses critics.

Leben was trying to be resectful and Bizbang made a comment about his nails being painted! Now i think painting your nails is gay as hell! put Chris Leben is not gay at all he is a bad ass alot more accomplished bad ass then Bizbang. It just reminds me of Kos fckuing with him but Leben just wanted to be a “respectable fighter” not a siht talking punk? and Bizbang has fought like a scared-e cat he taled all the same smack before he fought Hamill and Evans and he just eeecked by he is not and “A” fighter when he fights an “A” atleast he hasn’t shown that in my eyes!

Leben is a fighter that is fun to watch every time without any question.
Bizbang is not only when he is fighting someone that he can domninate easily. he doesn’t suck……. he only half-way sucks!

1. Painting your nails is either gay/not gay depending on the purpose/color of said painting.
2. Yeah, I know that’s a lot of TKOs, but I don’t look at the card and say “man that’s a lot of TKOs” I just look at each match up individually. I know that more than likely the undercard fights will be the ones that get stopped and the main cards will be the stinking decision fights, but whatever.
3. The stupid video won’t work, I only get to see the Gears of War 2 trailer (which is quite nice), and that’s it.

I used to hate Leben, but he’s starting to grow on me. His 4am comment was classic lol. I still hate Bisbing though. He sucks and so does wolfs lair. I would like to see him destroyed by the Mr. Spider.

So, I got the video to play, I was trying to watch it under the wrong section of the site. Clearly the finger nails comment was a joke, and both fighters have a lot of respect for one another. On the “countdown to UFC 89″ they were talking about how they would likely hang out with each other after the fight.

You’re not looked down on in America if you have a couple beers, or even if you get drunk occasionally. But if you get stumbling drunk on a regular basis (i.e. multiple times a week) and turn into a total prick when you do, that is when it is looked down upon.

@JohnBoy, for me as ive told you before im still not decided on Bisbing, yet I think Leben has a really good oppritunity to come away with the win. this should be a very exciting fight and i think Leben will win, i to cant wait for the fights tomorrow a few beers a bbq and good friends to watch UFC for free its going to be a nice Saturday espically when Leben (t)ko’s Bisbing………

as much as i wanna see leben just completely rearrange the counts face, i think the best fight on that card is gonna be lytle vs taylor. i love both these guys cuz they’re great strikers, both have a good ground game and above all these guys leave it all out there. I don’t think i’ve seen either one of em not give it 120% every time. sucks that someone has to lose this one cuz i’d like to see em both move up in the ranks. getting back to leben, i kind’ve expect the count to win but nothin would make me happier that a big ol left from leben connecting with bisping dumb ass face.

Im a big fan of Taylor’s and I hope he gets a win over Chris. both respective fighters, greatly skilled… will be a delight to watch.

I understand all this hatred for Bisping what with his poor personality and all. But really, people are questioning his ability in the Cage?
When Bisping lost to Hammil, i was pis sed at him. He clearly got his butt beat yet acted like a complete prick afterwards.
Did anyone see the Rashad fight? Now I’m not alone in this one either, but I gave that to Bisping! it was close, but Bisping got it for me.
Makes me laugh how everyone licks Rashads behind for beating their precious Chuck. Where does that put Bisping? He beat or some will say very nearly beat Evans. Now at the time of both the Hamill fight and the Evans fight, Bisping was alot heavier than he should have/needed to be for his frame. Imagine if he was a natural 205′er! What fun that would have been for Rashad.
I think the guy needs more respect. Just cuz he’s English and has a poor attitude, doesnt mean the guy has no talent!
I think he’ll do Leben. He’s too smart to be messing around with some hot headed, one hit wonder. Wouldn’t surprise me if he beats Chris to the punch consistently and ends up wearing him down by the end of the first or early second via TKO Strikes.
Id never rule out a wildly thrown Hay maker to end it all tho!

Ryan, I don’t dislike Bisbing… I’m not a total fan of his either, I think I can grow to like him more in time… Now after stating that he has ups and downs all fighters do, I really have not been impressed by his fights (thx for acknowledging the loss to Hamill), he hasn’t beaten anyone in the MW division (where I do believe he belongs) and some people both Brits and American are saying that he deserves to step up and take on Anderson Silva (no JohnBoy that is not aimed at you)…
Granted if Cote can get a shot whynot Bisbing, I’m not sold on his accomplishments in the UFC as of yet.. He could be a hell of a guy and whatnot he has a terrific backstory (countdown Bisbing v Leben) he is highly talented and not a total douche I’m not just completely sold on him yet..
Leben on the other hand I’m a fan yes his antics from season 1 started it, his troubles and the path to self enlightenment sealed it, he is willing to learn from his losses and become greater from them..
Soo in closing I don’t hate (I know I talk a bit of shhh to certain people about Bisbing) The Count I’m just wanting to see…
Perhaps after this fight he will make his fan more so than just me reconizing his talent and his potential… I’m pulling for Leben not because he is a American it is because I’m a fan of his… That’s just my opionion I guess

I agree if Cote can get a shot, Why not Bisping. But Bisping would get destroyed by Silva. IMO Its gonna take a special kind of fighter to beat Anderson and for me, Bisping is definatly not the one to do it.
I agree Bisping does have a long way to go and while it hasnt been shown in the UFC yet, I think people will be surprised when he comes up against the likes of Hendo and Franklin.
Thx for that Ryan and I agree with you that Bisbing can give Hendo and/or Franklin a difficult time I’m not sure he would win but it would be a fight forsure…. But we will find out more tomorrow night won’t we, cheers
IMO the fact that Bisping was able to hold his own as an underweight 205er against true 205s like Rashad and Hamill says a lot about his abilities. I would be willing to bet his normal walking around weight is not much less than it was when he was fighting at 205. The difference is that now he has to maintain a proper diet, where before he was admittedly eating garbage to put on weight. I think Bisping has a lot of natural ability, and he’s got a lot of skills that he brings to the fight. As with many fighters, one major thing that will determine how far he goes as a fighter is himself and his mindset. He clearly came into the Hamill fight expecting to dominate on the feet and beat Hamill easily, when he got rocked on the feet early against Hamill it changed his whole mindset and he went from “I’m going to mow this guy down” to “Crap, I’m really in a fight”. That’s what “cost him that fight” (even though the judges gave it to him).
I am really interested in where his career goes, I think he has a lot of potential, and I personally like the guy. I was disappointed in the way he acted after the decision in the Hamill fight, but outside of that I like the guy. He has not yet shown definitively that he can take down Silva, but he has shown flashes of that.
All that being said, for this fight tomorrow, Chris Leben is a very dangerous opponent, who is much improved from his TUF days. I think Leben is a good test for Bisping and we will learn a lot about both fighters and their potential futures from this fight.
I’m no Bisping fan but i will tell you this he will tare through Leben people will be in awe on how he disposes of Leben.
Bisping has impressed since the drop down and has lighting speed & accuracy the boy will go all the way.
On to Cote getting a shot he did beat Almeida who is a top level MW and Okami is injured so it is not his fault.

Chuck obviously does it to look “cool” I guess. If he was in touch with his feminine side than I would have expected to see him in more “girlier” stuff by now. After all, what the difference between Nail Varnish and Lipstick? Eye Liner and Mascara? It does look stupid tho. IMO
That’s just how society is now a days I guess. Everyone is free to do as they want without being judged. And so it should be… within reason of course! Look how quickly it has come since the days of when a fighter would be knocked out during the ref’s instructions for blowing a kiss to his opponent to the times of today when the “meal ticket” of the worlds leading MMA promotion will paint his nails… especially for a fight!

Painting your nails, as a man does not necessarily mean you’re in touch with your feminine side. It depends on the people you hang out with. If you hang out with people in the “goth/hardcore/glam/pop-punk” crowd (at least in the US and you’re 14-28 years old) its not at all uncommon for guys to have fingernails that are painted black. Based on the fact that Leben used to dye his hair red for his fights, and now seems to dye it black, as well as the characteristics of some of his tattoos I would bet he associates with this crowd at least some.

Bisping has never had a winning fight go to the Judges. (Unless you count the controversial “win” to Hamill).
Ooooo i cant wait for Leben to shut up all you red coats rooting for Bisping. Who cares if Leben could work for a carnival, he’s going to knock the snot out of Bisping. Bispings little straight punches aren’t going to do anything to Leben’s stone jaw. It’s going to be a bad night for Bisping i’m afraid.

Bisping just proved it. Leben was respectful in defeat and I like that. What a cool dude he was. Best thing of all tho, he was a great punch bag for that “Redcoat”. COME ON THE BRITS!
