Brandon Vera To Fight Twice in 2007
Top UFC Heavyweight Contender Brandon Vera intends on fighting twice this year according to The Fight Network. Not only should this calm fans who had wondered what Vera’s status war but it also confirms that Vera has every intention of signing a new UFC contract once his current contract expires following his next fight.
Vera, despite having just 8 total MMA fights, is one of the most talked about fighters in the sport as his surge in popularity and dominating wins have made him not only a favorite of many fans but also the focus of lots of talk. Vera has yet to be defeated in MMA winning all of his fights so far in his career.
After going 4-0 outside of the UFC Vera jumped to MMA biggest stage in 2005 when he defeated Fabiano Scherner with a second round TKO. He next posted a quick KO win over Justin Eilers at UFC 57 and quickly followed it up with another win, this time a submission victory over Assuerio Silva at UFC 60. In his last fight nearly 8 months ago Vera dominated former heavyweight champion Frank Mir at UFC 65.
The winning streak earned Vera a title shot at Tim Sylvia at UFC 68 but for unknown reasons the bout didn’t take place and Randy Couture took on Sylvia instead coming out of retirement to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship.
Vera has now changed managers and is looking to get in 2 fights before 2007 comes to a close. Being that we are more than half-way through the year expect Vera to fight at UFC 74, UFC 75, or UFC 76, most likely on one of the September cards. His second fight will likely take place at UFC 80 in Las Vegas on December 29th. No opponent has been announced for his eventual return.

I am so sick of hearing about Brandon Vera.
Get his face back in ther cage to back up all the talk and no fighting he has been doing for the last year.
I like Vera, he is good, but he needs to fight. He ain't getting any younger, and I think he is either near 30 or 30, either way, he needs to stop talking and start fighting.
What an idiot. Because he held out for money he didn't even deserve, he lost a chance at the heavyweight title. Not only that, but he wasted nearly a year of his prime fighting days. Now if he will even have a legacy, it will be all the shorter.
Good one, Brandon.
Based on what's been released Vera's manager mucked things up. Here are some previous posts I wrote about Vera and what lies ahead for the promising fighter:
