To Aznstar_inc and all others who think a cut stoppage is not a win,

Cuts come from strikes delivered in the heat of a fight by men trying to STOP their opponent. The rules are there to prevent more serious damage being inflicted on a fighter who, through spirit and heart, simply wills himself to continue. Since a fighter often will go on beating his head against knees and fists of the other guy (Diaz vs. Noons) in an attempt to wear out their counterpart, it falls to medical professionals to step in and decide when the line has been crossed. This is to protect the cut fighter from damage that will jeopardize their safety and possibly their life and further, it is also intended to protect to sport. The rules are agreed to by the fighters and their respective organizations so your opinion notwithstanding, Noons defeated Diaz by Strikes (which caused the cuts that led a doctor to end the fight.)

K.J. Noons made a business decision to cut his ties with EliteXC, an organization that would clearly take MMA down the slippery slope to "Professional" wrestling if they get their way. K.J. is better off for having elected to force the issue of equitable compensation and being "stripped" of a worthless title from a bogus organization. His status now is what it is. Misunderstood, reviled, admired, respected, it doesn't matter. It was his choice for his reasons. He is the one who steps into the ring, or not. He gets to decide.

Nick Diaz is a low class palooka whiling away time before his eventual bad ending. I base these opinions solely on how I have seen him behave during and after his fights and in the sorry attempt at EliteXC manipulation, after Noons victory over Edwards in Hawaii, so I could be wrong, but I'll bet not. (By the way aznstar, the Return of the King title is just one more example of EliteXC's attempts to hype matches for potential revenue enhancement. Yes it was bull, but I think K.J. had to go along with it. He probably repects B.J. Penn more than you do and would agree with your sentiments in that regard.)

The only reason I'll watch a fight with Nick Diaz in it is to see him get his ass handed to him on a plate. He is a very poor loser and sets a worse example for the sport. Not the kind of fighter I'd like to see as Champion but hey, I don't think EliteXC cares that much for the future of the sport. They want flash and cash and they've shown they'll do what they can to get it.

And save the "local kine" speech for some other forum. If I had a nickel for every local boy who scrapped with another local or haole or papolo or whatever for no reason at all I'd be rich. No fear is often synonymous with no brains. Being willing to scrap with anyone at any time is mostly stupid. Doesn't make you better or worse, just loosens your teeth. You want Noons to fight a guy getting paid three times more after he already beat him once? Cough up 60/40 and the fights on. No Dinero, no deal. Simple as that. I admire K.J. for sticking to his guns.

Last but not least: In a perfect world Noons will meet Diaz in a re-match somewhere down the road and will continue where he left off, pounding Diaz, stuffing his takedown attempts and winning the fight. Then we'll get to hear the excuses ad nauseam. Or maybe Nick will congratulate K.J. and return gracefully to the gym to train more....Right. This probaly will not happen as Diaz is slowly getting pounded out of the few brain cells he has and will soon be out of the sport. I for one hope Alvarez knocks him into another zip code where we won't be able to see him salute the crowd in parting with his trademark middle fingers (IQ indicator) as he heads for the locker-room.

Fedors fight vs Tsuyoshi Kohsaka was even close to the same situation... for one fedor was winning the fight up until the ref stopped the fight , KJ was winning his fight with Diaz when they stopped the fight, KJ was stuffing all Diaz takedowns and owning him on the feet, plus Fedor being the champ he is, was still fighting all the top guys after the lose to get back to the top , unlike Diaz thinking 3 fights with average MMA fighters gets him back to the top. EliteXC could of solved this situation ever easily by making Diaz vs. Alvarez your Number 1 Contenders Match that would be making Diaz earn his Title shot, throwing your Title holder some of that 500k you gave Kimbo for 14 seconds, or better yet you didn't want to give your title holder extra money to keep him happy yet you had extra money to pay off Seth Petruzelli to stand with Kimbo to give Kimbo the edge in the fight. To anyone hows saying KJ picking his fights not even close to true ,Diaz didn't earn his spot so soon , Kimbo on the other hand had a chance to prove himself vs Frank Shamrock after Ken dropped out, he picked a weaker opponent in Petruzelli because if he didn't fight there goes his pay for that night. Gives Kimbo a undercard fighter for the main event ,because Kimbo cann't handle any real main event fighters like Frank for 1. Thats EliteXC in a nut shell "Favors Fighters and will Fix a fight if you needs it" Fixing Fights is like Steroids your not 100% to win or anything but its a advantage.

Dbiz, im not saying there is an actual asterisk. im saying that people will always question that win. would you say Fedors loss to Tsuyoshi Kohsaka doesnt have controversy attached to it? anytime a ref stops a fight prematurely you will have a to question the win. Noons had a chance to prove that it wasnt a fluke stoppage and he earned the win, but instead bitched up and didnt take the fight like a real champ.

@MikeW, I know that Mr War wasn't a title holder I was just throwing an example out there that's all. KJ is starting to become a waste of talent seriously his "stock" in the MMA world has dropped considerably by him not taking the Diaz rematch

Zuffa did fire War Machine but it was a very different situation, he was not a belt holder and had other problems which the UFC may have frowned upon as making them look bad. I do agree that Noons should accept every fight offered to be a true champ though, his loss and potentially a waste of great talent.

@ ufcmanz, when everyone says that the Kimbo fight was "fixed" I believe the term "fixed" is that the fight was predetermind before it ever started? Which is not the case they paid him to keep the fight standing in hopes Kimbo would knock him out, yet that didn't happen did it so how exactly was it "fixed".. Not that what EliteXC did was cool or even legal but I wouldn't say the fight was fixed personally, Diaz is going to fight Alvarez for the title, if u believe that's a easy road to becoming a champion you my friend are mistaken futhermore I would even take Alvarez via 2rd tko over Diaz... KJ didn't defend his title against Diaz for whatever reason that's why he got stripped of his belt do I believe KJ is talented yes, it doesn't look good on your resume that u didn't defend you belt against the person that org wanted u too.. Hell ZUFFA fired War Machine for the same shhhit and he wasn't even the champion

I think Noons had a few good points in the fact of more money he
beat Diaz and Edwards. For Diaz to get a shoot so soon is totally
random who did Diaz beat for the Number 1 contendership , he beat
Muhsin Corbbrey and Thomas Denny two average mma fighters. Here is
the reason why Noons got stripped of his title so fast, Diaz is more
marketable in the MMA world just like Kimbo. EliteXC will do
anything for there high marketable fighters to hold there title...
they payed Petruzelli to stand with Kimbo and they stripped Noons
title from him because he didn't think Diaz had earned his title
shot. So this is how EliteXC does business by eliminating their
worst case scenorie factor , strip Noons of the title and Diaz has a
easier road to the title 1 factor down and with Kimbo his ground
game is so bad that they payed a average ground game guy like
petruzelli to stand with him 2 factors down. Can you imagine if
EliteXC had to cut some money from Kimbo's 500k to keep a real
fighter in Noons happy o'well KJ is lucky in my mind by stripping
him of his title they give a liferaft to get off a sinking ship.
From now on when you watch EliteXC you don't know if your watching
WWF or EliteXC anyways its all fixed. Go to a real orginization KJ.

There's no asterisk next to Noons beating Diaz. It was a win, within all the rules of the sport. You want to put an asterisk next to every "stopped by a doctor" loss? Don't be an idiot. It is a loss. Not a loss*. A loss.

Maybe Noons is all knowing and saw the BS of elite xc. I think it would be good for WEC or UFC to pick him up. Put his money where is mouth is.
