EliteXC Finalizes Fight Card For “Heat”

EliteXC today released the official fight card and bout order for Saturday’s EliteXC: Heat event at the BankAtlantic Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which airs live on CBS beginning at 9pm ET.

- Jake Shields vs. Paul Daley
EliteXC Welterweight Championship - Andrei Arlovski vs. Roy Nelson

I wanted to see Guyborg fight again…too bad not on the main card. Jake Shields is going to show everyone why he belongs in the UFC. In all honesty I think this card sucks monkey testes with herpes. I want to see the Shields fight and think it could be interesting depending on Daley’s strength/power. I do feel and strongly believe that “skill” beats power any day of the week. That is why Shields should win. Arlovski and Nelson….ehhh….the names are dandy but aside from this match and Shields/Daley, F THE REST! Carano is pretty and I’d rather see her in other ways than a fight…though she is one badass lady. Kimbo/Shamrock is very meaningful to me. I feel it is a joke garbage match up BUT! BUT! BUT! For the love of MMA Shamrock needs to win. The Elite-Kimbo non snese needs to come to an end. Kimbo’s phony status has plagued MMA long enough. Samrock needs to do the right thing and finish Kimbo.

I agree with KOuch that Shammy NEEDS to beat Kimbo. If he doesn’t I think it is a blow to the legends of MMA.

Yes, we know you are a UFC Nazi. Every other organization sucks, according to you. When you aren’t bashing organizations, except UFC and WEC, you have great points. You obviously do your MMA homework.
I totally disagree with you about this card. This is the best Elite XC card. Only having Noons vs. Diaz would have made it better. It’s better than all the UFC PPVs from the UK. They have all been garbage.
As I stated before, if it wasn’t for all the other MMA organizations, fighter wouldn’t have anywhere to go. Plus the other national MMA organizations keep the UFC on their feet, so they continue to give us great events.
Kimbo does have a phony MMA status, but he’s entertaining. Just like Mike Tyson fights, after he got out of prison.

Not that KOuch needs me to defend him but I will anyway. The UFC is the best run organization in all of MMA. All the fighters dream of fighting in the octagon. I don’t see too many guys praising the Shaws on how they do business. Yes the UFC has subpar cards, they are called Ultimate Fight Nights. You will never see a cetain heavyweight fighter protected in the UFC, NEVER.
@timcat, agreed that clearly the UFC is by far the best organization out there, you don’t hear of fighters praising the Shaw’s nor “T~shirt Guy” nobody strives to be in Affliction nor ProElite (companies)granted as a fighter, u would definately take an oppritunity to fight in any “major” organization, but 99% of fighters ultimate goal is to be UFC champ..
@Gonzo, this is the best card that EliteXC has by far, the addition of AA v Nelson has a lot to do with that imo, Shields v Daley should be the Main Event, Gina is always a draw and the main event Kevin Ferguson v Ken Shamrock oooooo the goose bumps I haven’t been this excited since Kevin v Tank awww I jest… Do u seriously think this is better of a card than any “Europe” UFC cards??? Com’on man just because a lot of the fighters that fought over there u may have not been too familar with, there were some wonderful fights and finishes quite frankly that I haven’t seen in EliteXC, “Guyborg” was an awesome fight, Shields v Thompson (just Sheilds being impressive as usual), Gina do what she does (she’s purrrty), and honestly Lawler is good but outmatches Smith everytime… I enjoy other Organizations, to a point they are great for MMA but has any company put on a better show than UFC? No imo….

Affliction has had 1 card and the AA v Rothwell fight awesome, Fedor’s destruction of Timmmeehhh sweet, on paper great HW card over all the whole shiibang not so much, not saying I didn’t enjoy it but it wasn’t up to the standard that the UFC has set
DREAM, WVR, other japanese organizations are a different animal and have different standards imo ie the depth of the tourneys the HW side show ect
To be honest I hope that Elite XC is extremly successful with this and other cards. And this is why…
Competition breeds improvment. The UFC can (and has) put one or two great fights and then filler on a total ppv card because they know 1) people WILL buy the PPV to see MMA and 2) there is no one out there to challenge them.
The better EliteXC does to better the UFC cards are. Look at what they do when Dream(Pride)/Affliction/EliteXC/IFL is showing a card. They take really aggresive measures to try to beat that card. I remember a Pride event that aired the same time a UFC card that had Rich Frankling v. David Louaso (great matchup for the time) Hughes v. GSP (Huge matchup) and other great fights! We as fans deserve to see great shows.
So I hope EliteXC continues to do well.. That said Kimbo IS a joke, so is Ken. The talent is no where NEAR UFC level, and it’s not suppose to be, it’s a great orginization for washed ups and up and comers to go. Shields wouldn’t last in the UFC in my oppinion, nor would many others, but I still enjoy MMA so i’m going to watch it.
Hope Ken kills kimbo..
Also I think EliteXC should continue to go after the old and expired UFC fighters to try to put together super fights that hadn’t happened. Like go find Severn and have him fight Oleg, or have Shamrock fight Abbot, Kimo v. Hackney etc.

FYI, I love the UFC. I PPV all the events, tiVo Ultimate Fighter, Ultimate Fight Nights, and the WEC events. But I also appreciate DREAM, Elite XC, Affliction, etc.
Competition is good for the sport. UFC can’t employ everyone, so there needs to be other places for fighters to go.
They only washups on that card are kimbo and Ken. There’s one reason I want to see Kimbo win, because he will keep that big spotlight on MMA. It’ll keep more people interested and keep people watching these free cards. Other than that, I would love to see Shamrock beat the hell out of that hack.
Brandon i must say that if you are going to call Ken a rpo wrestler then you are not a fan of mma. Arlovski was the champ in the UFC and is still one of the best fighters in the world so there are other promotions that have talent equal to the UFC and were do you think the UFC get their fighter for the fighter tree?

Without Kimbo, EliteXC does not exist, and where will Ken get his next job !!

The fighter tree, I like that. The other national MMA organizations are great (Elite XC, DREAM, Affliction, Strikeforce, old IFL). This where many up and coming fighters start then head to the BIG Show, UFC. And they are also where the fighters go after they leave the UFC. It’s a win win for everyone. UFC laid off a lot of fighters in 2008, there isn’t room for everyone. I’m sure Dana doesn’t want these fighters to go homeless. That’s what Vince McMahon is famous for. He uses up the “wrestlers” then spits them out.

I think you are wrong about if Ken beats Kimbo there will be no more Elite XC. Elite XC, will go back to Showtime, and lose the CBS deal. I pay $10 a month for Showtime, only for the MMA fights. On CBS, there needs to be commercials sold to make money. No sponsors, no money. Showtime is known for boxing already, so it’s already generating money and viewers on Saturday night for fights.
