Bisping and Henderson Likely TUF 9 Coaches
The Ultimate Fighter 3 winner Michael Bisping and former PRIDE champion Dan Henderson are likely to land roles as coaches on the ninth season of The Ultimate Fighter, which will feature welterweights (170 pounds) and middleweights (185 pounds) in a United States versus United Kingdom format.
According to The Sun, Bisping will be offered the position if he gets past Chris Leben in the UFC 89 main event in October while Henderson is likely to be tapped to coach the US team. Bisping and Henderson will then clash in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale to determine the promotion’s top middleweight contender.
Auditions for the series will take place on October 20th in London, England and on October 27th in Chicago, Illinois.
The Ultimate Fighter 9 will begin filming later this year or in early-2009 for an anticipated April 2009 debut.

If Bisping loses to Leben, my guess is that the UFC will use a non-Brit (but not an American) to coach the UK team. Maybe a Japanese, Brazilian, or European (non-UK) fighter. There is no one else in the UFC who is from the UK who could coach the UK team. Dana is definitely keeping his fingers crossed on this one.
bisping rules it p!sses me off that every1 hates him, i belive people hate him cos hes english and hes beating americans up and makein a name for himself thats why people hate him so much, its bull sh!t that people say they hate him cos of the hammill fight, number1 that was the judges fault number2 theres been loads of close calls and people dont hold grudges against then. people who hate the count are the people who chant USA at sport events like there head is guna explode.
the count will make short work of leban, chris is not even in the counts league, then the hendo count fight is a fight i have been wanting for a long time and it looks like now i am going to get my wish.

Not having a go at anyone in particular, including Marko (we are all entitled to our opinion), but im sooooooooooo bored of all the anti Bisping stuff when most of it is 100% personal dislike of the guy rather than any sort of substantial fact or deserving.
How many times is the Hamill fight going to be dragged up over and over and over like its the biggest controversy since Watergate? OK fact time. Bisping won. And why did he win? Because the judges thought so. End of.
(I also find this ridiculous anyway as no one ever happens to mention the Evans Bisping fight, when in my opinion and many others Bisping won soundly as Evans did nothing other than takedowns, followed by more nothingness, BUT, I dont whine on and on about how I think Bisping won and Evans should be hung drawn and quartered for it! Bisping lost. And I accept it.)
Secondily on the choice of opponants, UFC picks them. Thats it. If anything, its testiment to Bisping whos showing he doesnt have the ego of some other fighters who were recently disgraced and cut. He likes to fight. He gets paid for fighting. Why wouldnt he accept the fights? Not to mention he has looked bloody good at MW and anyone who doesnt believe he can be a genuine force at MW either now or certainly in the future, is, to be frank, an idiot.
Come on guys, stop hating for stupid reasons. Hes a good guy, with talent. And it will come through over the next few years (if not already).

you’re right when you say that the UFC picks his opponents. however, i bring up forrest griffin who was offered lyoto machida early last year and said that he would fight him, but that he’d rather be the first to fight shogun…and look what happened. i respect the guys who want the bigger fights way more than the guys who are happy to walk over the losers who are thrown in front of them.
i’m actually just sick of his fans b/c they believe he’s sooooo great when he hasn’t proven anything.

the Hamill fight still bothers me sure, is it the judges fault whynot….. i wish that Bisbing would have had a rematch with Hamill but with Hamills knee and Bisbing dropping to 185 (convienetly hahaha) that is unlikely to happen
i dont think that Joe Silva is babying Bisbing at all and he has a difficult oppenent in Leben coming but even tho i think that Bisbing is highly talented and probably a really good guy outside of the cage im not going to jump on the “bandwagon” for im not completely “sold” on him

Well I dont think its accurate to say Bisping doesnt have any desire to fight the best guys. He said he does, and if the UFC offered him Hendo tomorrow im sure he would say yes. Surely Leban is the next step? Reasonable win loss record, and well known. He already publically said he was dissapointed when Leban had to step out the first time. I dont think thats a million miles away from Forrest’s quote. Yes Leban may not be Shogan or Machida level, but he is working his way up from the bottom of the middleweights remember.
I also dont believe all his fans believe he’s “soooooooo great” either. Im a Bisping fan (obviously
) but I know he has to work his way up (even if it does has to start again against a fat jiu jitsu guy). He also has a lot of wholes in his game I can see, but the talent is there and each fight he gets better.
Lastly in this debate, on what has Bisping done since Rashad, hes beaten 2 guys the UFC “picked” for him, and he beat them down bad. He’s looking twice as good at MW than LHW and looks a genuine force at MW. I see the skills in Bisping to beat Leban, quite easily as long as he dont get sloppy. Thats what hes done.
I fear no matter what Bisping does, he could knock out Leban with a flying left hook, powerbomb Hendo, and break Silvas nose with a some nasty knees, and everyone will still come up with reasons why Bisping “sucks” as the haters so elegantly put. (disclaimer: im not saying that Bisping is going to do all those aforementioned things, just making an point)

Day was a dangerous fight for him but he blew him away and his sole defeat to Evans was controversial he did not loose that fight he got robbed big time.
I actually think this could a great fight and if Bisping beats Hendo Silva has a real threat in the MW division.

@ UK Chris, thx to be completely honest with you i would like to see Leben win (he is super crazy and i liked him before i even knew who Bisbing was, also stems from me being anti Kos, i met Kos before he did what he did to Leben on the show and i didnt like Kos then and i always thought if Leben got ahold of him well you know) the “bandwagon” or “nuthugger” thing is what i mean.. i think this is a test for Bisbing and even tho he has looked better and more aggresive @185 i would like to see him fight more top flight competition and this is perhaps the start of that…. so ya i guess im wait and see arent i?????

I am American, and happen to like Bisping. I’m more with FR702 in the wait and see category. He’s shown a lot of talent and skill, but he hasn’t for sure shown me that he’s a force to be reckoned with, and certainly has not shown himself to be the guy that’s going to knock off Silva. A good showing against Leben and Hendo, would cause me to give him some consideration.
The comments about chanting USA are ridiculous. Obviously you pull for your countrymen, why shouldn’t we?

Look at how many counted Evans out of the Chuck fight. He screwed Chuck up big time, with, in my opinion, the best KO of the year.

Myself and FR at least have put ourselves into the wait and see category. We are not saying that we’ll never give him credit. The thing that annoys me is you people have anointed him as the guy to knock have Silva, he hasn’t shown that yet. Period. Then you itch and moan about people knocking Bisping when you make these while claims that he’s a world beater, and he’s not. Granted there are guys like Kelvin that are gonna hate because they hate him, you’re wasting your time on them. personally i think he’ll beat leben and if he does, my respect for him is gonna come down to how he wins. i don’t put leben that high on the list but a win over him would be a good accomplishment. it all comes down to how he handles a guy that can take a beating and still move forward. if he beats leben by running backwards the whole time, then thats the name of the game and i won’t argue, but if he ko’s leben then i’ll give him his due since that’s a task that’s proven to be very tough.
and to clarify, surfingk5, i don’t like the guy cuz he’s a douchebag, it has nothing to do with his skills or the fact that he’s british. I think he’s a good fighter, but my problem is how he conducted himself after the hammil fight. it’s pointless to argue who won or lost and what judges messed up or didn’t, but we all agree that it was a close enough fight to be considered a contreversial call. that bein said, he seemed to be quite full of himself upon hearing the result where plenty of other fighters would’ve been more classy and would’ve admitted how close the fight was. in fact, i will say here and now that if anyone has any evidence of bisping (i.e. interviews, articles, video clips…) complimenting hammil after that fight and acting like a respectful and professional fighter, then I will be more than happy to re-evaluate my opinion of him, but until then he’s a douchebag who’s record has been padded by lesser fighters.

Out of interest where does all this anti-bisping sentiment come from? I don’t belive its just from the Hamil fight; there are plenty of bad/controversial decisions but none which have caused such hatred! Not that it really matters!

Bisping is a Tier II fighter and Leben is a brawler that belongs on the street with the likes of Kimbo!
Neither of these two will ever be close to a belt.
I like Bisping thought – at least he has a huge heart and a lot of character. He simply does not have the skill to be the best in the division.
Leben is a skinnier version of “Butterbean”. He is a brawler that leads with his forehead.
If Bisping can’t beat the **** out of Leben then he might as well end his career now.
