cro cop no contest for a knee to the groin, it must of been one hell of a knee to stop the fight any1 see it? please fill me in abit
Here’s Bas Rutten’s quote about how bad the knees to te groin were: “We just got informed by Mirko Cro Cop’s corner that his right testicle is inside [his body]”
It was actually multiple knees and Cro Cop was unable to continue so it was ruled a no contest.
Again my pics did realitively well and I picked the GP winner sooo again DREAM is a wonderful org
Aoki wants to fight Michael Jackson (Akiyama) on the NYE card… Love the fact Aoki is calling out people and talking sh!t
Man I left a pretty long comment and it didn’t post that sucks owell
Thx Kris, that is pretty long when your typing on the BlackBerry
good card ……… good results .EXCEPT for the crocop fight .if he got kneed that badly he should win via DQ and not have a NC
cheers kris sounds nasty.
Funaki beat minowa? in 52 seconds?WOW cant wait to see this on HDnet .
Haha, no problem FR702. Got caught in the spam filter for some reason but I rescued ut.
I agree, if it was a single knee I could see an NC but multiple knees should have been a DQ.
No problem JOHNBOY.
Be forewarned, the broadcast was nearly six hours long so you’ll need to dedicate almost an entire day to watch it all haha.
Thx Kris, haven’t see the Knees to the nuts have you? And if u have do u think Overeem was “doing” intentionally? I can’t get over being kneed soo hard your testicle goes inside wow
Not yet, I’ve only read reports of it so far. I’m writing up a few posts now but I’m gonna seek em out later tonight.
Ouch,
Must of been nasty. Can you imagine if Crocop kicked him in the groin? Sucks to be Mirko right now.
In my opinion, Cro Cop was getting beaten pretty bad on the ground, he got cut pretty bad too, he was getting dominated oeverall but the knee’s were no joke. The 3rd one was bad………. I thought maybe Cro cop was taking the opportunity to get out of the fight but it was nasty.
Hard to say if they were intentional, I would say no, overeem was clearly winning.
What about Nick Diaz? Wasn’t he suppose to fight Hayato Sakurai on dream 6?
Any one knows why he didn’t fight?
Thanks.
They were saying during the broadcast that Fedor is likely to fight at the NYE event for Dream. I bet that screws up Afflictions plans for their January show.
@Justin, but com’on man how many times does a Japanese orgnization say some shhh and it doesn’t happen (Roger Gracie v Travis Wuiff)
But if he does fight that Judoka on NYE (which he likes to fight in Japan on NYE) I’m no so sure he couldn’t fight Jan 17 for Affliction highly unlikely but….?
I’m not really very familiar with the Japanese organizations, so I’ll take your word for it that they make stuff up sometimes.
If he did fight NYE, he is certainly capable of getting the quick win, and not really suffer any damage and be able to fight again at Affliction against whatever nobody they put in the other corner. I just hope it doesn’t work out for them, I’m ready to see affliction go belly up.
well unfortunately ProElite co isnt going belly up anytime soon with ShowTime possibly buying them soo atleast we get to see Gina every 3 months
Affliction is just cutting their own throat with paying Sylvia soo much and having 6months off between shows it just doesnt look good for them rightnow….. they possibly could do better in 2009 but they are going to have to work awfully hard at it….
Yeah, ProElite seems to be in decent shape at this point. Seeing Gina is definitely a benefit of watching them. Even though I don’t like the way they promote themselves, or the fact that they have lower caliber fighters, I prefer ProElite over Affliction. The biggest thing about Affliction that rubs me wrong and makes me want to see them go under is how they made the money in the first place to be able to start their promotion, which was off of the UFC and UFC fighters.
I think that Affliction is trying to make the fans “happy” intially…. by attempting to bring the Randy v Fedor fight well now look their original date to have AA v Barnett (October some shhhit) got cancelled and now they are making the fans wait 6months til the next event.. Sooo everyone can biotch and complain about ZUFFA and the UFC Dana White ect… But when it comes to a organization that runs it like a true business and keeps its customes happy (ie us the fans) noone does it like UFC and ZUFFA bottom line, why is all of these “up and comers” can’t touch ZUFFA, because ZUFFA set the standard on how to do it right, business wise
Zuffa certainly takes the right approach as far as keeping the customers happy. I also like the fact that they value the sport, and the product they’ve built up, which is why they backed out of negotiations with CBS (also HBO), leading to ProElite’s deal with CBS. I think that unless something happens where UFC competitors like ProElite and Strikeforce merge, they will not be able to compete with Zuffa. I would like to see, however, Zuffa start to move towards maybe including the womens fights in the WEC. Since they have dropped the MW and LHW, and never had HW, they have room to add a female division to the WEC. The only problem with that at this point is that Gina is signed to ProElite, and they really need to be able to get her to make that a true success.
Have you ever seen a worse dancer than Melvin Manhoef? I can’t dance, but I’m sure I can dance better than that guy.
Im telling you guys .. DREAM has some wicked stuff . They got fedor for NYE and he will more than likely face crocop IMO then you add all the other talents plus nick diaz ,Alvarez vs hansen ,and a comebacking JZ vs aoki or Kawajiri will be watching that for sure .
Doom
I love Dream. It’s very competetive. A ton of good fighters. The Japanese really know how to put on a fight.
for sure dolfang
It like PRIDE on roids , which I was missing . Now its like they never left and are sudenly twice the show with fresh new fighters . UFC has competition now in my books . Just need that North American exposure and they will be laughing .
Its what Affliction posed to be ””””
You could get 12 guys from any local bar or pub , pay them 2000 each , stick em in a cage and you’d be doing better than AFFLICTION as far as show quality goes .You dont set up shop with only 7 fighters ,then run around making an ass of yourself trying t o put on shows . IT DONT WORK !!!
So thank god for DREAM , Elite xc and Strikeforce
Did you see that Alvarez is close to signing a long term contract with EliteXC? That would step things up a bit.
Dream is pretty good, the fights I saw on that card were entertaining. Also, its obvious that the Japanese will support this, considering they had 20,000+ show up on a Tuesday night. This will mean they will likely not have a shortage of funding as many other promotions have. I personally don’t like the fact that they fight in a ring and therefore have to have stoppages because of the ropes. Otherwise they definitely put on a good show. I don’t know how they would work in terms of trying to bring their events to the US, Pride did at the end of their run, and look where they are. I also think its hard on Eastern fighters to come to the US and fight, possibly if they came to Hawaii, but that is still difficult. I think they would be better off to try to move into western Europe before trying to come to US.
Yeah Justin… it was 25000 people on a Tuesday afternoon, but then again, it was a holiday for them.
I hate the ropes too. I hate even more when the guys on the side interfere with the fighters when one of the fighters touches the ropes. They grab the ropes and start pushing the fighters with it… I wish they’d just leave the stinkin’ ropes alone and just tell the fighter to not grab the rope. They should just break-down and use a cage and be done with it.
God hates me… It’s the only possible explanation… I DVR’ed Dream 6 so I could watch it tonight. I have been looking forward to it since Dream 5. The fights were great. I wanted to see the Cro-Cop / Overeem fight and the middle weight grand prix final. I was watching the beginning of the Cro-Cop / Overeem and all of a sudden… it went black… The fights went over the scheduled time so I didn’t get to see the last 2 fights.
Somebody tell me… Why does God hate me this much? I’ve been good… most of the time…
… sometimes…
@Dr Doom, I my self am not a huge fan of EliteXC but they do bring free shows, I just wish they would run their organization a bit better Kimbo v Shammy as the main when Sheilds is defending his belt v Dailey com’on
DREAM is awesome and is slowly growing support by “western” fans (hardcore fans have always been entertained by DREAM) I just hope they keep growing in world wide popularity…..
I’m not a huge fan of the ring it at times will interfear with the fight and that bothers me… The Yellow card idea phenominal idea its like “hey u aren’t fighting hard enough here is a yellow card, I just took 10% of your earnings”
Anyone remember when Rampage pulled out a Yellow card on the ref during the prefight instruction I almost died laughing it was sooo f~ing hilarious
yeah , DREAM is going strong . They’re the ones who can play on an even level with the UFC .. and its cool they have their own area to do it in .I dont think a UFC show would be as cool in japan as they dont scream and shout during fights . Imagine griffin vs Rampage in total silence .hmm would be weird .
They need to make an english friendly website to showcase the product and advertise events.
On a side note after crocop having a tough time with overeem , maybe him and Kimbo would be a better fight than we all think .
…….. !!??!! DR Doom submits gunslinger to climb up to #9
Did they mention a Dream 7? Or a Welter-weight Grand Prix?
Dolfan,
You not telling your DVR to record long enough does not mean God hates you. However, I do sympathize with you, the weekend of the first EliteXC was on CBS on saturday, and then the Pulver v Faber fight was on Sunday, I didn’t set either of those to record long enough, had to find them online.
I just set it to record the show, but it overran it’s time slot and therefore I didn’t get the end of it… I’m telling you it has to be some sort of cosmic conspiracy against me.
Just extend your timer
Yeah, what FR said. You can tell it to record beyond end time, I do that for all live events, college football, NFL, college basketball, Rolex Sports Cars, F1(even though they never run over) I even do it for regular TV shows on some networks (NBC in particular because they have a tendency to have shows like Heroes run over a minute or two)
i want to see mousasi fight against Ninja Rua or Phil baroni next . He might be little lucky the way he won that fight and either one in my book has a chance to beat him … would be cool to see ninja in the ring again .More his style
