  • FR702 says:

I really like the DREAM organization cannot wait to see this, they always put on a good show

  • I agree FR702, this is a very solid card with some intriguing fights. Definitely looking forward to it, but unfortunately I don’t get HDNet and will have to catch them in the AM.

  • Justin says:

I wish that another Channel could carry this stuff. I don’t have HDNet and don’t see the point in paying for HD broadcasting when I only have a RD(regular definition) TV.

  • FR702 says:

@ Kris, I would like to know u think will win the GP, also the HW match I’ve been looking forward too for awhile now.. I will be back in a few with my picks for the entire card, and I hate the fact that I can’t get HDNet either I’ve got Dish soo whatever

  • DolfanG says:

I get HDNet, but I’ll have to watch tomorrow when I get home from work. The fights come on around 3:00am here.

  • FR702 says:

CC v Overeem (can’t decide normally would go with CC but he is coming off of a surgery and Overeem looks huge sooo? Hope for a battle)

    Aoki (by some crazy sub)
    Akiyama
    Mach Sakurai
Funaki v The Punk (haven’t decided on this one yet either)
    Yamamoto
    Sergi
    Nakamura
Jarcare (but little CC Galesic might ko the gater)
Mousasi (many would look at this as an upset, the guy needs to get noticed he is violent on his feet o ya he has sub skills too)
    Dong Sik (reserve bout)

GP WINNer~ Mousasi by sub over Jarcare…..haha well why not huh?

  • I think the GP is really a toss up. They’re all very good fighters but GPs present interesting circumstances like injuries, endurance, etc. that are often not a factor in regular fights. That said I’m leaning towards Melvin Manhoef ever so slightly for no reason whatsoever but I could see any one of them walking away the winner.

  • Yeah, there are going to be several replays of this card as well at more reasonable hours, I’m just not sure when they are exactly.

  • DolfanG says:

Dennis Kang who was in the GP but lost in the first round picked Gegard Mousasi to win it.

  • FR702 says:

@Kris, Melvin is a beast he mud stompt the hell out of Saku but??? Well you know…

Injuries are quite possible (ie Hansen, did you see where Thompson said he wanted to fight Hansen for his next fight?) I just can’t wait for these fights sick japanese card.. PRIDE light some would say but sh!t DREAM is exciting I hope the run this ship better than they did the last time

  • KOuch says:

DREAM is cool and seem to be coming up in the world of MMA but HDnet keeps them away from the masses. (I think) Who is their match maker? He does a good job.

  • KOuch says:

    FR,

I think DREAM has a better chance of lasting longer than any of the other promotions….Elite/Affliction mostly. They seem to have found their own nitch and just need more exposure….I do not know how they will do that….perhaps get off HDnet.

  • FR702 says:

A few things KOuch, one if Thompsom fights Hansen in the HP pavillion Nov 21 (I think that’s what he said) I’m sooo F~ing going plus I will be up there that week on business soo hells ya…… DREAM just has sooo much talent and I believe they are the #2 orgnization in the world (not ZUFFA owend) I just hope they F this up

  • FR702 says:

I’m already 0-1 Yoon lost by tko

  • FR702 says:

Mousasi W triangle choke 128 rd 1. Hells yeah

  • T3chn3tnium says:

damn just missed it.. i don’t think i will be able to stay up for the cc fight. i know overeem has wanted this fight for awhile. i think he will win tho.

  • KOuch says:

Hopefully this is not a repost…my computer just did something strange.

    FR,

San Jose HP?!?!?! DUDE I AM THERE!!! I am so glad you posted that. I am not trying to stalk you…atleast conciously I am not….do you travel alone or with a partner? Just curious.

  • KOuch says:

“We just got informed by Mirko Cro Cop’s corner that his right testicle is inside.”

    – DREAM ringside announcer Bas Rutten informs fans watching the conclusion of the 2008 middleweight grand prix on HDNet that one of Mirko Cro Cop’s testicles ran for higher ground after Alistair Overeem delivered several illegal groin strikes during their heavyweight bout. It was eventually ruled a no contest because the Croatian could not continue, providing a disappointing conclusion to a bout that had received much interest and fanfare leading up to it. Not too mention it sounds downright excruciating.

WTF!!! One of his nuts left the scrotum! F–K! I am freakin out! F THAT! F THAT SHAT! WTF! WHY? TERRIBLE! $UCK$! Get well Cro Cop. You’ll be in my thoughts all day. I am so sorry about what happened. I have checked on my testes 4 times since reading the horrific news.

  • FR702 says:

If that fight does happen in San Jose I’m going to take someone to the fight, but I’m going forsure, I usually travel and do business alone… I think my lady would like to go with me yet I haven’t discussed this with her yet but damnit I’m going if that fight is signed (she is starting to really enjoy the fights and she is becoming super interested.. Which is awesome),,, if you go we will have to hangout forsure grab a pint whatever

  • FR702 says:

Ya his testicle went up on inside of him ( no doubt started by Chieck Kongo hahaha) damnit that has to be one awful feeling….

O I picked the winner I actually did pretty good on my pics also how do u lose via heel hook 32seconds into the fight

CC and Overeem I don’t think will ever happen aqain…

  • DolfanG says:

I just cannot stand Shinya Aoki

  • FR702 says:

I cannot stand Tyrone Culver sooo there DolfanG (think about it)

  • Justin says:

What fight in San Jose? I only watched the fights on the internet, so I must have missed something there.

  • FR702 says:

@Justin, i read that StrikeForce champion Josh “the Punk” Thompson wanted to fight one more time this year and perhaps it was going to be @ a show @ the HP Pavillion Nov 21 was the date that he trew out there…. he also stated that if he does fight on this “card” he wanted to challenge Joachim ‘Hellboy” Hasen DREAM GP Champion (155 on both championships) i would assume under the StrikeForce banner therefore Thompsons title would be on the line

  • DolfanG says:

Jimmy Ambriz is my new hero… what a fighter! I guess I should have said is he a fighter? 290 pound punching bag. That guy needs to lose about a third of that bulk. He can’t throw a punch because he can’t reach around his own chest.

  • DolfanG says:

    FR702

What have you got against Mr. Culver?… so there back atcha…

  • DolfanG says:

Tyrone is a 3rd string corner. I’d be willing to make a handsome trade… I’ll put together a nice defensive back package to trade for a used pocket knife… or a new pair od shoe strings… I’m sure we could work something out.

  • FR702 says:

Well my computer crashed yay, I’ve tried three times to respond DolfanG, essentially I’ve got nothing against Tyrone he is a former Fresno St Bulldog and he didn’t get arrested (to my knowledge) I just wanted to throw a name out there of a Dolphin that I knew

  • DolfanG says:

I’d be thrilled with Tyrone if he could pass defend. That’s our biggest weakness right now. If we had a pass defense we’d be a competetive team… I say “we” loosely, of course.

  • FR702 says:

Well hey “you” all beat the Pats soo F~it you are more succesful than ever other team during the regular season last year…. Find the positive ya know

  • DolfanG says:

“We” are a young team and we’ll have our ups and downs. We beat the Pats for sure but they had a backup QB in there and he isn’t up to Brady’s standard. Once we got on top of them I think their QB got anxious. Our offense was clicking because we had our young tightends against their ancient LBs and our RBs showed what they can do. Our D-Line and LBs played real well to get pressure on their QB. It was a good showing by “us”. Maybe a couple of years down the road we’ll be back all the way.

  • DolfanG says:

It was encouraging to say the least.

  • DolfanG says:

WOW… Eddie Alverez is close to signing a long term contract with Elite XC. That would be great especially if Showtime buys ProElite. Things are looking up!

  • DolfanG says:

Shinya Aoki is coming on right now… I can’t stand that guy… what a clown. It pisses me off that they decided to NC the first fight with JZ because the clown got hurt. It was a hrd elbow shot to the side of aoki’s neck. A legal blow, but their hero got hurt so they called it a NC. I hope he gets beat, but I doubt that he will.

  • FR702 says:

DolfanG aren’t elbow illegal in Japan?

  • DolfanG says:

I don’t think so. They throw them regularly. I could be wrong, but I see them all the time and in Dream 6 I saw a guy on the bottom elbow up and cut a guy below his eye. It was a legal strike.

  • DolfanG says:

I found some rules for Dream fights:
Elbows to the head are not allowed (neither in standing or ground position).
If there is a 15 kg or more weight difference between the fighters, knees to the head of a grounded opponent are not allowed.

  • FR702 says:

And so what do u gather from that DolfanG still got the hate for Aoki (I know u can appreciate the sub skillz that the little weird guy with the colorful pants has)

  • DolfanG says:

Of course he has great skills… some of the best that I’ve seen… I still can’t stand the little… (no… no name calling)… I can’t stand Aoki. I still say it was a legal blow and since Aoki couldn’t continue, the fight should have been over and JZ the winner.

  • DolfanG says:

This just in… I just got an email from somebody at Dream (I forgot his name) and this is a copy of that email:

Yes, there will be a DREAM.7

    Unofficial: Location Korea!

If you post on MMA forums, please spread the word that dreamfighters.com has reported that its a possibility that DREAM.7 will be in Korea

  • FR702 says:

DolfanG, nice on all accounts Korea huh? Whynot

  • FR702 says:

O and DolfanG, I can see your point on the JZ fight but please acknowledge that Aoki beat him in their rematch just to make it fair and whatnot

  • DolfanG says:

Korea could be interesting… I just hope the same people produce it. I wonder if the fans will be quiet during the fights like they are in Japan or out of control like they are in the west. It should be interesting to see that. I asked for a date, but he didn’t give me any more information than what I copied to the 11:09 pm post.

  • DolfanG says:

    FR702

What rematch? I don’t recognize the rematch until they reinstate the results of the first match… No really, Aoki is incredible on the mat, but I get bored with one dimonsional fghters. Aoki is very one dimonsional. After their first fight, Aoki sat in the ring and cried like a little KJ Noons or something. He should have got up and left the ring. He lost. He didn’t leave the ring until they called it a NC. It was disgusting. I’m getting to the point that I’d like to see Aoki in the UFC and see what he can do against guys that are not only good on the mat, but good at stand up as well.

Honesty is the best policy… I just want to see him get his butt kicked again.

  • FR702 says:

Re~watch the second fight he had with Hellboy then hahaha

He perhaps is one dimensional and I agree perhaps he should go and try to become more well rounded, I think actually he would do pretty well in the UFC until he got to BJ but that is another argument.. Even tho I truly enjoy his fights and the crazy subs I will agree the crying perhaps was a bit much but whatever I’ve seen worse things, such as Shammy throwing in the towel in a fight he was winning against (I believe) Fujita

  • DolfanG says:

It was Fujita. I remember that fight. Even Fujita was stunned and checked to see if Shamrock was OK. I know he said he completely gassed out, but if that’s the case then you deserve to get you butt kicked for being a Jason Guida and showing up to fight out of condition.

  • FR702 says:

DolfanG, agreed…. Wasn’t it Jason McDonald that quit (didn’t answer the bell) against Rich Franklin? Couldn’t remember I know I have the dvd or its dvr’d whatever

  • DolfanG says:

I don’t remember that right now… it’s late… If a guy is beat and he knows it, then there’s nothing wrong with wanting to live to fight another day. That’s what the tapout is all about. I don’t mind a fighter throwing in the towel because he’s beat up and knows it’s over, but to not show up in shape to give it your best… that’s unprofessional at least and unacceptable.

  • FR702 says:

Ya it was McDonald just found it and your right on living to fight another day and not coming in shape I just was just asking didn’t want to have to look for it but whatever…. Its only midnight your time its not late ha

  • DolfanG says:

By the way, I emailed Adam Baker at Dream again to ask for more information and I got this reply:

“No new info yet – Thanks for the support”

So we don’t know when the next Dream will be or if there’ll be a welterweight grand prix or who’ll be fighting or anything right now.

  • DolfanG says:

It’s late after working all day… The weather has been a little more temporate lately, but with the high humidity, it’s still tough.

  • FR702 says:

I feel ya humidity sucks I absolutley hate it…
DolfanG you are all about DREAM 7 and that is awesome were u a big PRIDE fan too?

  • Justin says:

Quitting because you didn’t show up in shape, versus quitting because you caught a beat down are two different things. The only time quitting because you didn’t show up in shape is acceptable is if you take the fight on short notice, but even then I think if these guys were really serious about their careers they’d be training year round, not gaining 20 extra pounds between fights. (I saw Rampage say, at one point, b/w fights that he was 245)

  • FR702 says:

245 to 205 with like 6 months in between fights reall isn’t that big of cut tho imo.. I weigh like 235 (6′7″) I could definately get to 205 easy

But I completely understand where u r coming from

  • Justin says:

Its not a big cut agreed. I know that I lost 10lbs when I went from just running, to wrestling everyday whenever I used to wrestle in High School. The thing is, he was admittedly out of shape, this was between his fights with Hendo, and Forrest. Forrest is a guy that is always training and always in shape…look who won that fight…granted being in shape or not wasn’t the only factor…

  • FR702 says:

Agreed Justin, if you’re a professional fighter u should be “ready to go” at any point and perhaps be in shape
