Michael Bisping is now officially confirmed to be facing Matt Hamill, not Ken Shamrock, at UFC 75 this September. The confirmation came on UFC.com as the fight is now listed for the first time (although the main event between Dan Henderson and Quinton Jackson has been removed, likely accidentally).
The fight was first reported earlier this month when Ticketmaster listed the fight in the description of the event on their official website. The fight was cast into doubt, however, when a report surfaced days later that Ken Shamrock may return to the UFC to face Bisping although the report lost credibility as it was scrutinized in the media. Just yesterday we stated that the fight between Bisping and Hamill was likely and today it has been officially confirmed.
Bisping rose to fame after appearing on the reality show eventually winning the light heavyweight competition of season 3 with a win over Josh Haynes. At UFC 66 Bisping continued to cement his status as a top fighter in the division defeating Eric Schafer. Next he fought Elvis Sinosic at the UFC’s first event from England this year winning via a second round TKO.
Hamill, a member of team Punishement, had posted wins over Jesse Forbes and Seth Petruzelli before defeating UFC newcomer Rex Holman in his last fight at UFC 68.
