Next Middleweight Title Match in Denver or Cincinnati

Posted by Kris Karkoski on Jun 22, 2007 at 9:41 am ETNo Comments

The next time the middleweight title is defended following UFC 73 in July will be in Denver or Cincinnati this fall.

Rich Franklin, the next fighter to challenge for the 185 pound title in the fall fight, will take one either Anderson Silva or Nate Marquardt for the championship pending the result of their match at UFC 73.

Franklin, who hails from Cincinnati, is a former middleweight champion. He lost the title to Silva last year making a Franklin-Silva rematch an intruiging story line. “Ace” followed up the loss with back-to-back wins against Jason MacDonald at UFC 68 and Yushin Okami at UFC 72 to earn another shot at the title.
