Exclusive: Antwain Britt Not Fighting Rick Roufus On October 11th
Ultimate Fighter 8 light heavyweight cast member Antwain Britt (4-1) will not be taking on Rick Roufus (4-3) on October 11th in the main event of Ultimate Warrior Challenge “Confrontation” in Fairfax, Virginia.
MMAFrenzy.com today confirmed with sources close to the fight that Britt and Roufus will not be meeting on October 11th with Roufus instead taking on Hector Ramirez on the same date in Las Vegas as part of a Superfights MMA event that has replaced Affliction’s rescheduled event at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Britt earned his way into the Ultimate Fighter house with a majority decision victory over Ryan Jimmo in the opening round of the 205-pound tournament. When contacted by MMAFrenzy.com Britt confirmed he would not be taking on Roufus as previously expected (in fact, the official UWC website still lists the matchup on the event’s official fight card) but declined to comment at this time on his rumored release from the UFC.
A former kickboxing champion, Roufus was defeated by Maurice Smith via first-round submission in his MMA debut at a Strikeforce event in early-2008 but has rebounded to win four of his last six MMA bouts including a September 19th second-round TKO of Reggie Cato.

I dont imagine Roufus would be very competitive other than in the stand up. Even his kick boxing has sucked lately but the guy was born in’67 and time catches up with you.

No prob man. I have done several things with Antwain that I have posted on that site. As for him he is a great guy, as I said in my interview he has always been more than happy to chat with me. I went and watched the TUF premier with him and his gym here in VA Beach and it was a lot of fun. It was def a great night, and it was all about him!

FR702 is right on, I put up a spoiler alert when I previously reported he’d be headlining the UWC event but this is an MMA news site so when you come here in the future expect MMA news, spoilers (potentially) included.
In this case the promotion is actively promoting the fight so it’s no secret that Britt has been released from the UFC or at least granted permission to fight elsewhere. Obviously why he is off the show isn’t known yet but I can assure you that we’ll have all the details once they become available.
This is what we can safely report now without giving too much away but we’ll have more very soon.

I just wanted to say people need to stop being so scared of my brother and fight him. Just because our family is made up of beast doesnt mean ya’ll cant try to fight us. My brother aint getting old he just makes mistakes. Everyone does. But britt all to you. he is a great fighter.
