Demian Maia vs. Nate Quarry at UFC 91
Undefeated middleweight Jiu Jitsu specialist Demian Maia will take on fellow 185-pounder Nate Quarry at UFC 91 on November 15th in Las Vegas.
Maia recently confirmed the matchup with Tatame.
With an unblemished 5-0 record outside of the octagon Maia debuted in the UFC in October 2007 and has racked up three straight “Submission of the Night” victories over Ryan Jensen, Ed Herman, and Jason MacDonald. The trio of UFC victories pushed his record to 8-0 with six submission victories.
Quarry earned a championship opportunity against Rich Franklin at UFC 56 following back-to-back-to-back UFC wins but was defeated by Franklin via first-round knockout. After numerous injuries and back surgery kept him out of the octagon for nearly two years Quarry returned to the octagon at UFC Fight Night 11 in September 2007 and defeated Pete Sell via third-round knockout. In his last bout Quarry defeated Kalib Starnes via unanimous decision at UFC 83 in April in a bout in which Starnes refused to engage, prompting one judge to score the fight 30-24 in Quarry’s favor.
UFC 91: Couture vs. Lesnar features the return of UFC heavyweight champion and hall of famer Randy Couture to the octagon to defend his title against Brock Lesnar in the UFC 91 main event. The rumored card for the pay-per-view event also includes Quinton Jackson vs. Wanderlei Silva, Kenny Florian vs. Joe Stevenson, Dustin Hazelett vs. Tamdan McCrory, Nick Catone vs. Amir Sadollah, Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Josh Hendricks, and Jeremy Stephens vs. Rafael dos Anjos.

Bisbang vs Quarry
Winner vs “The Spider”
Maia will destroy Quarry!!!! Not sure why Silva st this one up?
Actually its fine by me – I love seeing awesome Jiu Jitsu prevail!
i am a quarry fan…
hope he wins!!!
i like your idea windmiller…
good match up could go either way but i think quarry will be to strong for maia so hes not guna be able to take him down so im guessing a decision to quarry
Maia v Quarry very nice strngth versus mad jitz I don’t know who the victor will be I like them both I’m very interested in this fight
Man UFC 90, 91 & 92 look like some of the greatest MMA cards ever.
Good fight
Quarry all the way he will pull through because of his mental toguhness and his boxing
I like Nate also but seriously we have NEVER seen Nate have to worry about the ground. Pete Sell is a BJJ guy but he refuses to use it, and everyone else has been a striker for Nate. That being said I think Maia taps him out in R1 via RNC
Brandons got that one right for sure ……. maia is coming up the ladder three rungs at a time on my list . SH!T KICKER of the future
…and in the top ten again .. DR DOOM
I submitted my opponent in 116 comments via “rear naked comma ” to take 9th spot…
I like Maia in this one. His submission game is SICK.
if Maia gets him dwn then quarrys done same if quarry keeps it standin Maia done
Good fite Maia 2 win
Maia by making submission look easy.
if quarry can keep it standing it will end early by brutal ko but if miai can take quarry down it will be an easy sub vistory
Maia can fight standing up too. Don’t count him out.
I think if it stays on the feet, Quarry wins, clearly, if it goes to the ground, I’ll be interested to see how Nate ground game is, as I haven’t seen it yet. Clearly Maia’s is great, the outcome, on the ground, depends on the quality of Nate’s ground skills.
In an upset Nate wins by decision…
Maia has to take him to the ground first but if it goes there im giving the edge to Maia.
Hope it will be more entertaining than Starnes running away like a sissy girl.P*SSY
