Clay Guida Wants Another Fight In 2008

Popular UFC lightweight Clay Guida is just days removed from his unanimous decision victory over Mac Danzig at UFC Fight Night 15 on Saturday but he’s already looking forward to having one more fight in 2008.
“I hope I can get one more fight this year. I had a five-month layoff, just the UFC’s got a lot of people in the division,†Guida told MMA Weekly. “I hope I can get at least one more fight in 08’ and whoever it is I’m ready to roll.â€
His Saturday win over Danzig was his second fight in 2008 following an Apirl TKO of Samy Schiavo at UFC Fight night 13.
Guida has now won three of his last four bouts including an August 2007 split decision victory over Marcus Aurelio and a December loss to Roger Huerta.

Maybe they should have him kick his brothers ass, don’t mind the 52 pound weight difference. Still think the littler Guida would win, by verbal whining tap out.
Why dont they have him and Diaz fight in december?!? That would be a GREAT fight. You COULD give him Lauzon, but that would kind of be a slap in the face…or Rob Emerson…but yea – give him someone in December – I like having people who want to fight often..not like John K. (not calling him war machine) who wont fight someone unless it benefits him….
Roger Huerta is a bad, bad dude – and Clay almost beat him. Danzig never had a chance. Hope he fights again, he’s pure excitement.
I thought he beat Danzig on Wednesday, not Saturday…
It would be good to see him fight again. Not sure who against though.
I agree he was beating Huerta until he got a little over aggressive maybe, i will never miss a Clay Guida fight, not only a nuthugger but swinging from the sack!
clay should fight the winner of joe daddy and kenny ken flo.they are both worthy oppenents. what about fisher he is also a grinder in that weight class. guida is such a bad ass fighter never a boreing fight.

rob emerson would definetly be a slap in the face but lauzon? that would be a badass fight to watch and I think there both on that same level where they’re prolly both more than a fight away from a title shot but they’re both definetly in the mix. i like both fighters but i’d have to say i’d be pullin for j-lo, that guy might be the least scary looking guy in the sport but he’s prolly one of the most aggressive as well.
Serious, one more win and I would give Clay a title shot. He sure does deserve one in my books! Awesome guy, awesome fighter and never a boring moment!!
i thought guida and edgar already happened. maynard would be a good fight though. if melvin guilard could put the drugs down and stop breakin the law so much i’d even be happy to see that fight.
in any other division i’d give him a shot with one more win, but 155’s are wayyyy stacked so i don’t see how it would be fair.
Guida opponents I feel he should face before moving into title contender status:
Edgar, Maynard, Clementi, Griffin, Diaz, Neer, Stout….seriously the list goes on and on….. I like Guida A LOT but he still needs 2-3 wins before moving into contender status. His fight with Huerta was a great war but the end result is, HE LOST! sucks! I hope Guida starts f-ing people up and does eventually get a title shot…..I just feel he needs more time.
stout? i like him but he’s no way near contention. He should go against clementi in the dec. troops card. If not, maynard or edgar, maybe diaz but griffin is likely one win away from a title shot, and he already lost to him.
I was just making the point of how far off he really is from contention…..he is becoming a fan favorite for his cardio/endurance and fast pace. As a result some people are jumping the gun on his status at LW.
I cannot wait to see Griffin fight again. He is almost my favorite LW.
I’m also a Clay Guida fan. I can’t imagine where he gets all that stamina from, but I would like to see him do more than just take-downs. I’d like to see more striking from him and submissions attempts. I know he strikes, but it looks like his strikes are just to set up a take down. I’d like to see him strike with bad intensions.

i have the perfect fight a huge up and comer who is very talented and has learned alot lately and has been doing very good but gets looked past and that is clay guida vs matt wiman

It’s really cool actually. For the first time in my being a fan of MMA I actually got to sit and watch the fight night with another person(wife’s friends new boyfriend) who knew as much as me about MMA. We were play by play armchair commentators. It was great talking to someone about MMA who actually knew wat the F I was talking about. It was an actual real life vocal MMA conversation with a hair of knowledge. I spend as much time here as possible talking to you guys because it feels like a conversation….not me lecturing MMA. My friends are into it but not like me….with exception to the ones who fight…but even they are more into their own careers than the big picture.

He trains up north from me….sorta a local…not really. I just enjoy his small pitbull shape and those looping punches. The guy is cool. Maynard is cool too…I got shotgun.

Florian?!? Guida would get raped! Florian is too well rounded for Guida to figure out at this point. I would worry that Guida would go for a takedown and pay for it by getting submitted.

I think he should get the loser of the Griffin/Sherk fight. Would test what hes got against a tough nut, and a win would propel him up the rankings.
Hey,KOuch easy on noons he’s a good fighter.And do you have proof of his gayness???Oh and on the guida thing always been a fan but yes few more fights before he’s in contention.Would like to see him fight griffin.Would like to see him cut his hair to,every time he gets lightly jabbed it looks like he’s getting rocked,might be misleading to the judges.
I’d be stoked if he got another fight before the end of the year. Don’t think it matters who he fights. No matter what it will be a step up and a great fight. duh
