Melvin Guillard Arrested For Probation Violation
Melvin Guillard (21-7-2), who last week was removed from the UFC 90 card for undisclosed reasons, was arrested on August 13th in Houston for a probation violation, according to Sherdog.
Guillard is in custody at the Harris County Jail in Houston after violating the terms of his probation for a 2007 drug charge, though details on the violation haven’t been disclosed. He will reportedly be released to a drug treatment facitily soon.
The UFC lightweight previously received a nine-month suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission after testing positive for cocaine following his UFC Fight Night 9 loss to Joe Stevenson in early-2007.
Guillard was to fight Spencer Fisher at UFC 90 “Silva vs. Cote” on October 25th in Chicago. Fisher will instead face Shannon Gugerty at the pay-per-view event.

Man, F*ck this guy. He could of been a great fighter, but decided the weed or coke or whatever the hell it was to be more important. I was really looking forward to his fight with Fischer. I smoke the green but i still excel at my work and school and if i had the chance to fight in the UFC i would stop every bad habit i have in an instant. Now i hope he doesn’t come back, he’s a disgrace to his fellow fighters…and smokers everywhere.

I agree, this is another guy like War Machine that needs some ****ing guidence. Melvin even more so since he has way more talent than War and is waisting it away. Get a BJJ coach and work on your ground game and focus on fighting.

@Tmoney – No, it’s not the positive NSAC test as that happened more than a year ago. The details of the incident weren’t disclosed, though I’d speculate that he failed a drug test given the fact that he’s being released to a drug treatment facility.

You are right on. If there was ever a case for Team MFS in IOWA or Horn in SLC helping someone out its right now. I remember C.Farley the last time he was on SNL and how no one helped him. If someone knows someone now is the time to step in.Its the right thing to do.

Even though guillard was a whiny little b*$ch @ times, i liked watching him fight. It’s a shame to see these younger fighters f*ck their careers up simply because there’s probably no one around who cares enough to guide them.
When your on probation you have to take random drug tests, i’m sure he just failed a random and that put him in violation to his probation. Stupid kid. Honestly he needs to leave his camp and go to a new place to train. I know he’s friends with Josh Burkman and all but he isn’t taking him anywhere, and a good trainer can help a wild stupid kid (aka mike tyson)

Too bad… I didn’t like this kid’s big mouth and total lack of humility or his lack of respect for the other fighters, but he could have made some noise. I can’t imagine the UFC is gonna give him a third chance. There’s too many guys waiting to take his place that will do whatever it takes to be successful.

Melvin should try being a pop star. He definitely has an American Idol look to him but Dancing With The Stars might be a better suit….perhaps…Hells Kithen or involving his family in Wife Sawp. it would be easy to talk trash about melvin, but maybe instead of bein a whiner you should take a look at his record, and btw he has been clean since he got arrested. most people who haven’t been around someone on probation would understand how easy it is to violate it.
He screwed up and he got himself arrested. He got a second chance and he screwed that up too. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. He’s had his sympathy. Now he has to pay the price. I don’t feel sorry for him. He knew the rules and he violated at least one of them anyway… alledgedly…
He could have done something in the UFC, but that’s past. Now he has to face the court system. His record in the UFC was 4-3. His notable win was over Marcus Davis. He had notable losses to Rich Clementi, Joe Stevenson and Josh Neer.
His biggest loss, however, was to Melvin Guillard. Stop feeling sorry for him. If he don’t care then the rest of us shouldn’t care either.

Stevenson and Clementi manhandeled and embarrassed him. Clementi was out of his league and it is not even funny how far out of Mevin’s league Stevenson was. Regardless, if he couldn’t hang with those two guys, he really doesn’t belong in the UFC. His legal troubles are just anothr reason he doesn’t belong right now. Poor Crack Pipe.

What do you mean Stevenson was not in Crack Pipes league? Joe Daddy is the real deal. he is an awesome fighter who even though he was cut badly against BJ Penn fought with heart and determination. Melvin would’ve quit at the first sight of his own blood. Stevenson is a future champion. Melvin is a future True Hollywood Story.
this is truly a shame. this kid is still so young and just has so much potential. i have no respect for people like him who just take the opportunities they have for granted. everytime he seems like he’s matured and starting to straighten up, he screws up again.

I think you are confused by what I said.
What I meant was, STEVENSON IS SUPERIOR TO melvin. What do you guys think of Stevenson/Faber at LW. Remember, Faber walks around at 154lbs so gaining weight is not an issue.
I think that would be awesome, but I would like to see Faber avenge his only defeat first. As for the Stevenson/Guillard thing, maybe I read it wrong.
I think Faber can win that, but he’s got to put on some weight. He can’t come in at 154 against Stevenson. Even though Faber is faster Stevenson’s strength could win that fight. They have a very similar style. It could be a very good fight, or it could be one of those boring fights where both guys are looking to do the same thing, and respect each other so much that nothing happens.

Faber v Stevenson…I’m thinkin Faber. Don’t under estimate his strength like Pulver did. He is the all around fighter…right now anyway. There are no significant holes in his game. Phenonimal athlete…
Justin, when has Faber had a “boring” fight, the only time I have seen him standoffish was against Tyson (the only loss on his record) other than that he has come in and attacked and tried to finish by any means necessary… If Urijah was to move up in weight the first fight he needs to take is against Tyson imo yet Urijah won’t be leaving the WEC anytime soon the can’t afford for him to go to the UFC he is a great draw for the WEC as is Condit,Torres,Pulver…
He’s not had a boring fight that I’ve seen. I have seen other fighters that never had a boring fight (that I knew of), go in to a fight with someone with the same style, and the fight slows down, and they don’t go all out like they normally do. I certainly wouldn’t expect boring in the sense of Starnes v Quarry, but less entertaining than usual for Faber would be a definite possibility.
I understand your point of view absolutley… I’ve seen an awful lot of “boring” fights I’ve also seen fights that other people have said that they thought were boring where I truly enjoyed the fight (most of these people have lack of knowledge of ground fighting and they just want to see a standup battle), point is I just don’t see Faber nor Joe bringing a boring fight, yet as u say same style fights have some slow moments in most cases

I’m not one of those that finds ground fights boring. Its just that a lot of same style fights between two good fighters tend to have a lot of stale mates. I agree that it would be less likely with these two fighters, but you always have to watch out for guys coming out trying not to lose, rather than trying to win.
