  • DolfanG says:

Is Rashad serious??? He doesn’t know why so many people still don’t like him??? I think when he was on TUF Matt Hughes TOLD him what is problem is… the showboating. That’s just how he moves? Sure it is… that’s how a lot of people move… when they’re showboating. If he could somehow, someway ever mature enough to cut that crap out, he could easily become one of the favorite fighters of the fans.

  • The Gunslinger says:

he doesnt showboat i want one video that shows him showboating…..what do you call thiago silva when he cuts his neck or chuck liddell running around in his gay poses…thats right its showboating anyone who says rashad showboats is an idiot he doesnt show boat…….i would love for some one to name one fighter who doesnt celebrate after winning(and yes celebrating and showboating are the same thing)……..the fans in mma are getting as bad as the refs in college and proffesional football….i say celibrate and showboat all you want…..and anyone who says thats not the way rashad moves then watch his fights because it is he has done that in every fight he has had……….watch a stinking sugar ray leonard fight……..i like to call that bobbing and weaving and last time i checked ….thats not showboating thats trying not to get hit…im sorry that rashad doesnt just stand there and take a ko from liddell like everyone else…..the liddell nut huggery ever since he got ko’d is at an all time high…i really hate almost all mma fans now!……o and to the liddell fans who say rashad is a showboater but dont say a word about liddell running around with his arms waving yelling awwwwww!….guess what rashad ko’d your boy out cold rashad turned the iceman into ice cream….with a rocky road right hand! hahahaha…thank you and sorry for the harsh words im just really angry good bye!

  • DolfanG says:

    Gun

You probably need to read some of my past posts. I have also talked about Liddell running around the ring backwards and Silva spinning around on one foot, but those and Rashad’s “celebrations” after a win aren’t as bad as the guys that do stupid crap DURING the fight. I don’t really care if you agree with my opinion or not. I do want to get your opinion on it. But, be honest… Rashad showboats during his fights. It’s not just the way he moves, it’s showboating pur and simple. The guy has a ton of ability and I know he wants the fans to get behind him, but he, himself, is the one that can make that happen. If he keeps winning, it’ll probably happen anyway. I don’t dislike the guy. I did under-estimste him, but I don’t dislike him. I just hate the showboating… I don’t see Couture doing antics DURING a fight…

  • nev-o says:

dudes calm down let them show boat they would woop and of our a$$es these guys deserve it in a sport that is stacked

  • DolfanG says:

And by the way… since you brought it up… in college football, just play the game and if you want to do something to bring attention to yourself, then do it on your own sidelines amoung your own teammates. They might enjoy it. I just want to see a well played game.

  • DolfanG says:

    nev-o

I stand by my opinion. That just won’t change. If I wanted to see that stuff, I’d watch Dancing with the Stars. If I want to see fighting, then I just want to see fighting.

and by the way, I am not a Liddell fan at all. I’m still shocked that he lost, but I’m not a fan of the Iceman.

  • Angelo says:

Did anyone watch countdown to UFC 88? He’s a huge Bruce Lee fan! He was doing Kung Fu in that Liddell fight. Go study some Bruce Lee videos, jumping around moving back and forth, changing his stance. It’s actually a teqnique. I guess people get mad when they can’t hit him when he does this. I saw Chuck getting frustrated in round one, because he has SOOO much pressure of having an exciting fight. Round 2 came around, he attacked more, and let himself open. Good job Rashad.

  • DolfanG says:

    Angela,

That’s not what I was referring to. Rashad does things during a fight that have nothing to do with fighting. That’s what I was referring to… the antics and histrionics… but that’s just me and everybody doesn’t share my viewpoint on it. That’s fine. That’s what makes the world go round… as long as Rashad stops doing that stuff… (just kidding)

  • DolfanG says:

    Angelo…sorry
    stoopid keyboard

  • T3chn3tnium says:

I see where the both of yall (gun and Dolf) are coming from. I believe rashad was bobbing and weaving during the fight. after chuck stuck him in the chin he was letting chuck know that he could take it and he would have to bring more. might have been a little bit more excessive than what we see the other fighters do but its all the same.

Dolf i don’t really know what your talking about if its not the bobbing and weaving.. you must have seen something i missed. please explain in detail please?

    Thanks

  • T3chn3tnium says:

O yeah Rashad’s dance after the fight.. is no where near as bad as anderson silvas shuffle dance.. but when you win a fight i think your entitle to do whatever you want. except talk **** to someone while they are knocked out. i wouldn’t appreciate that at all.. too disrespectful.

  • DolfanG says:

Let’s wait and see what he does in his next fight. We can let this whole thread go for now.

  • timcat says:

He showboats ,but it worked to his advantage, didn’t it? Liddell chased him and got caught. Great game plan. I love this show.

  • ELa says:

Evans reminds me of a lot of the boxers back in the day; bob and weave and try to entertain. A lot of people don’t understand or like it and thats fine, however, I enjoy a little entertainment like that during a fight. The frustration on Chuck’s face told the story and it was obvious that Evans was in his head by the end of the first round. Sure he may have had pressure to be impressive but to allow Rashad to get into his head and frustrate him, he should be beyond that. Listen, Rashad Evans’ moniker is “Sugar” sounds like a few former boxers we’ve heard of in the past. And those few were very entertaining to watch, showboating and all. WAR ESPN MMA LIVE!!!

  • JOHNBOY says:

im a massive chuck fan and i didn’t see owt wrong wiv rashards showboating. i dont understand why every1 is getting on his back poor guy hes just knocked out an livein legend and now has a shot at the LHW titel good luck to him.

nice to see a little bit on tanner an all

  • The Gunslinger says:

ELa, thats exactly what im saying man i used to love watching old boxing fights because thats what you would see…some of these guys just have never seen an ali or sugar ray fight…then they would know that its not showboating its bobbing and weaving which has been a fighting technique since ali started doing it and dancing in the ring works…the opponent gets frustrated because it looks like your having no problems out there and you make the other guy look bad…then they start getting aggresive and sloppy and get caught great technique…ive done it a few times to so thats why i agree with it

  • DolfanG says:

If you ever saw a Sugar Ray Leonard fight, then you must have seen when he would take his right hand and start winding it up ijn circles and then he’d throw a punch. Did you think for one nanosecond that’s just he way he throws a punch??? No, of course not. It was showboating. I was a huge Sugar Ray fan, but I can be honest… he showboated. Sometimes I was entertained by it, but I would have preferred that he never did that stuff. Now young guys like Rashad want to copy that. They ain’t exactly Sugar Ray. It don’t look good on them. Bobbing and weaving ain’t showboating. Rashad knows when he’s showboating… It ain’t just how he moves and he knows that. Let’s just wait and see if he does it in his next fight.

  • DolfanG says:

I don’t want to come off as a guy that hates Rashad Evans. I don’t hate him at all. I think the guy has some real talent and ability. I’m anxiuos to see where his career goes. Will he win the championship and then hold it for 10 years? I think this kind of talk is ridiculous, but if Rashad does become the LHW champion, will Anderson Silva move up to test himself against Rashad? Or might Rashad move up to HW and challenge whoever the champion might be? He’s a good fighter and he’s earned his title shot.

  • The Gunslinger says:

sugar ray wasnt shouwboating he won alot of fights that way its strategy….bobbing and weaving has been a strategy for age’s ask any boxing coach…ive loved boxing forever and i cant count how many fights ive seen and how many times ive seen them and they dont showboat its called bobbing and weaving and i will end it on that note

  • nev-o says:

dolfang look at the nfl and look at the mlb ozzie smith use to do a backflip after a sweet catch things havent change in sports these are grown men they work there asses of let them celebrate kind of like all of us do with our buddies…if the guy u want to wins beats the crap out of the guy ur buddie wanted to win u get a bit cocky too and if u cant admit that ur in la la land its a stacked sport with the best in the world i would sure as hell break dance if i beat rich franklin and so would u

  • nev-o says:

Everyone deep down likes the iceman he was huge part of making the ufc what it is today he is old and wise and has fought the best in the world and by the way i bet alot of these guys have taken ballet for balance agility just like guys in the nfl!!!!! read a book get ur facts right ur just jealous these guys train every day year round for two things self glory and to entertain us so if u dont like the after dance dont watch

  • nev-o says:

mo ali mo ali he backed it up float like a butterfly im the greatest of all time

  • Dr Doom says:

Did he win or not ? Sometimes people try to hard to create a personality for themselves on the way up . Just leave the showboating aside with evans ,he’s just trying to be recognized . He just needs to be less flashy and let his hands to the talking right now —-the rep will solidify with the wins .

  • DolfanG says:

Sugar wasn’t showboating??? Are you serious??? There is no way that anybody that ever saw Sugar Ray fight can say with honesty and integrity and a straight face that he didn’t showboat… come on now. Next you’ll be telling me that Dion Sanders didn’t showboat either. I loved watching those guys because they were the very best at what they did even though they showboated.

    nev-o

I’m so sorry to disappoint you, but whatever it is that you do when your fighter beats your buddy’s fighter, I don’t do that. I’ll cheer for the guy that I want to win, but when it’s over, I just smile and feel good about it. I don’t do any back-flips or spike anything and I don’t run around the place backwards with my arms stretched out nor do I spin around one one foot.

I have always subscribed to the advice from Jim Brown, the football great, when he told a younger guy: When you get to the endzone, act like you’ve been there before.

I used to love to watch the old guys when they’d hit a homerun: the team would meet them at homeplate and they would shake hands and go sit down. The old football players would score a touchdown and flip the ball to the official and head to the sideline. That’s the stuff I like to see. I’m not a coreographed celebration kinda guy. Please forgive me for my shortcomings and my disapproval of those that showboat. Who knows?… Maybe with proper medication, modern science can cure guys like me. But I am what I am and I’ve never even been to la la land… sheltered life and all…

  • Dr Doom says:
