Ishida To Make US Debut Against Wilcox at Strikeforce at the Mansion 2
Mitsuhiro “The Endless Fighter†Ishida (16-4-1) will make his US debut on September 20th when he takes on Justin “The Silverback†Wilcox (5-2) at Strikeforce at the Mansion 2.
A DREAM, PRIDE, and Shooto veteran, Ishida was defeated by top-ranked lightweight Takanori Gomi at PRIDE Shockwave 2006 then rebounded for back-to-back victories over Gilbert Melendez and Bu Kyung Jung. In his most-recent bout in May Ishida was defeated by Caol Uno via second-round submission in the quarterfinals of the DREAM lightweight grand prix.
After starting his career with a 2-2 mark in the welterweight division, Wilcon has dropped to the 155-pound lightweight division and won three-straight, including an August 31st victory over The Ultimate Fighter 5 cast member Gabe Ruediger.
Wilcox, a collegiate wrestler who won the NCAA national qualifying tournament as a true freshman, trains out of American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose.
“I love the way they train. They have that grind that I’m used to from wrestling in college so I feel at home here,” said Wilcox. “My college coach always said if you want to be a champ, you have to surround yourself with champs so I went out to AKA and haven’t lost since.â€
Strikeforce at the Mansion 2 takes place on September 20th at the Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills, California and features Anthony Ruiz vs. Renato “Babalu†Sobral and Kazuo Misaki vs. Joe Riggs.

NO OFFENSE!
I am not so sure if losing to Caol Uno shows much promise for a fighter this day in age. Good shat on beating Ruediger though….that guy was such a HOMO! COLONIC!?!?! Lazy HOMO bastard! I’ll never forget gabe’s cries of, “BJ….ple….a…sseee…. Ehhhhhh….BbbbbbJJJJ…uhhh.”
” I can do it” Shut up fatty
The guy had a shat sucker shoved up his ARSE! C’mon!
When they talk about going the extra mile you never knew it was up there…:)
Dietrich,
Nasty……you put a smiley face at the end of that. Gabe needs to do a reality TV show more on the line of Surreal Life, Real World or that on on the Gay channel……not sure what it’s called but everyone on it is a Flaming GayGuy.
That’s harsh Kouch…Gay Channel?…you mean there is one?…I thought it was just a rumor perpetuated to keep Rush Limbaugh on the Trilateral Commission or the CFR after he got caught with all those Viagra…:)
I’m anxious to see what Ishida will be able to do. He was in great shape in the Dream fights. I didn’t see much striking from him, but he was like a ball of fire when it came to grapling. I sure do like this guy more than Aoki the cry baby.
With the news of Evan Tanner’s passing, a lot of the fun has been taken from this tonight. I didn’t know him personally, but he was a good fighter and he seemed like a cool guy. At any rate, he was way too young to have passed away. I wonder what the cause of death was? Suicide isn’t out of the question, but dying from exposure is a heck of a way to commit suicide.
He went missing on Wednesday but they didn’t call about him until Friday. I also wonder what day he died? I’m certainly not blaming anybody, but why didn’t the people that he was supposed to be in contact with report him missing when they couldn’t contact him for hours at a time? I hope we get more information… This is really depressing. What a shame…
Gabe Ruediger has got to be the biggest loser in MMA. The guy had a chance to be a major player on TUF and rather than knuckle down and train, he sat around stuffing his fat gut with cake. When it was time to cut weight, he was such a … (I don’t even have a name in mind for him.) When he fell off the bike and his buddy helped him back up I was just about to throw something at my TV. I guess he lost the weight since he fought on August 31… and lost. maybe he just wanted out of his UFC contract… maybe it was too much pressure on him and he cracked… or maybe he’s just a little … (I still don’t have a name for him…)
Deana Epperson, who grew up across the street from Tanner and his family in his hometown of Amarillo, Texas, said she’d been told that the fighter had texted friends in Oceanside as late as Thursday, telling them that he’d run out of water and gas for his motorcycle. Authorities were then contacted to try and locate the fighter.
Dolfan,
Good update…..Evan did say that he knew his live could end up in jeopardy if anything went wrong. Running out of gas and water is pretty F-ed UP! Man vs Wild and Survivor Man are GARBAGE and don’t have SH!T on Tanner. Tanner is a man who tried and died. Those other two film for a few hours and go sleep in hotels/motels. I’m not sure why I am getting angry but I am pissed. Over the last few years MMA has stolen first place of my favorite sport in my heart. It use to be baseball…..Anyway, it feels different. I respect all fighters with exception to maybe 4-5. In a sport like baseball or football when something tragic happens I feel for the family of the individual. With fighters it’s more like: F! A warrior has just died. A hero. A former champion. A MAN! Someone who contributed enough to this sport that we are on here daily talking about MMA. Not that Tanner was the reason MMA made its massive rise……but he was one of the fighters that came up at a time MMA had ZERO respect from the sports world and most people.
Dietrich,
Yes! There is a GAY channel! I know…..that is F-ing GAY as HELL! Unfortunately for me, I live next to San Francisco where many of the buses have huge advertisements on the side of them with two very pretty men. Srriously “pretty.” I’m not sure why any guy would want to be pretty but that is what they are….prttier than many of the butches around…..GAY! Don’t get it confused though. I know San Francisco has the reputation of being full of QUEERS but in reality the population of Asians far surpasses the gay community.
KOuch… very well said. I wish I had said at least a little of that stuff… nice.
Dolfan,
Thank You.
Evan Tanner= Warrior Man
Gabe Homo= Burn in hell please and disappear from my memory ASAP…..Thanks.
