Denis KangDenis Kang successfully defended the Spirit MC middleweight title with a first-round knockout of Jae Young Kim in Seoul, South Korea on Sunday.

Kim stunned Kang early in the first round of the main event bout but Kang recovered and dropped Kim to the canvas with a series of hooks. Kang followed up with ground and pound to finish Kim off at 1:31 of the opening round.

Kang (30-10-1) had dropped back-to-back fights to Gegard Mousasi and Yoshihiro Akiyama before picking up the decisive victory over Kim.

Kim (10-6) had won six-staight bouts before the knockout loss.

Wow…….sounds impressive. I’ll have to watch this one when I find it. I always like looking over the results from unaired events. More times than not there are 7 out of 10 fights that ended in the first round making me want to see the fights very bad.

Kang was so dissappointing in his Dream fight. I thought he’d be there for the semi-finals, and he lost his first fight. What is the reason for him losing 2 in a row?

  • KOuch says:

I do not know because I did not see. However, I wish another promotion using the tournement format would be televised. I think that is the one way the UFC could truly face stiffer competition. A tournament format with KNOWN stars.

  • DolfanG says:

I love the Dream fights! I especially loved seeing Hanson beat the crap out of Aoki. I am (whatever the opposite of a fan is) of Aoki.

  • KOuch says:

Not a fan of Aoki…..I belive that is what you are.

id like to see the grand prix style comeback and wit some big names pride was the **** for that reason alone wat was it 03 when the had wandy vs sakuraba and rampage vs bustamonte and chuck vs overeem in the 1st round then like 2 months later they had liddel vs rampage and rampage vs wandy wit bustamonte and hendo as reserves if someone could get something like that goin id def pay to watch

  • DolfanG says:

Not a fan… OK… that’s me… I didn’t like him before the JZ fight, but when JZ tagged him in the back of his neck and he sat down crying, that was it for me. Then they decided it was a no-contest… But, hitting in the back of the head is legal in Dream and he wasn’t even in the head it was on his upper back and neck… geesh… I’m getting all worked up again…

  • FR702 says:

KOuch&DolfanG, whether or not u r a fan of Aoki or whatever please tell me u both have seen him when he choked out Hansen sooo smooth I respect Aoki’s grappling/ground/jj skills it was nice to see Hansen win in the “rematch”

  • FR702 says:

I would love to see the UFC do some sort of GP but the NSAC will never allow that to happen, that’s one of the ways ZUFFA got MMA sanctioned in Nevada(they created true weight classes and got rid of the open weight tourneys), as awesome as it would be I don’t believe it will even happen again in the UFC which sucks

  • DolfanG says:

I saw Aoki gogoplata on Hansen… I still don’t like him. When he sat down and cried after JZ hurt him, that was too much. I understand that in Japan they don’t see anything wrong with that, but… c’mon… If I got hurt at work and sat down and cried,… Well… that would just never happen. The kicker was when they called that a No Contest. I didn’t like him before, but now I can’t stand to look at him.

  • The Gunslinger says:

the reason you cant hit the neck is because your spine is there…….have you ever been punched in the back of the neck really hard…cause that can hurt and can cause spine injuries to you or in the near future….so i really dont care that aoki cried…i mean come on forrest cried like a girl when jardine beat him!

  • KOuch says:

    Gunslinger,

It was the presentation of crying. Forrest ran away for privacy. Aoki leaned on the ropes, looked up to his God, put his head in his hands, looked up shaking like a scared puppy and then looked down in shame again. He felt he had dishonored his temple….

  • The Gunslinger says:

i can respect that to though kouch…ive know japan like the back of my hand…hope to fight there some day(love asian woman and the crowds) but i can understand that because japanese people are very sacrade and never want to disgrace there records or there team with a lose…they take mma very seriously in japan

  • KOuch says:

    Gunslinger,

What discipline do you train the most?

  • timcat says:

Come on Denis, fight some real compitition, here in the US. Are you arfaid you’ll be exposed as a one dimentional fighter? Come on dude show some stones and get it together already!!
