Aurelio Replcaces Injured Tibau Against Franca At UFC 90
Gleison Tibau has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout against Hermes Franca at UFC 90 due to a shoulder injury.
Marcus Aurelio has now been booked to take on Franca at the October 25th event in Chicago.
Sherdog today reported the injury and replacement.
Aurelio (16-6) was defeated in his most-recent bout by Tyson Griffin via unanimous decision at UFC 86 in July. He had previously posted back-to-back UFC wins over Luke Caudillo and Ryan Roberts.
Franca (18-7) has lost two-straight UFC bouts to Sean Sherk and, most-recently at UFC Fight Night 14 in July, Frank Edgar. Prior to the back-to-back losses Franca had won eight-straight bouts including victories over Jamie Varner, Nate Diaz, and Spencer Fisher.

Well Franca has been standing more with fighters recently, Aurelio v Franca could be a really good match, perhaps not fight of the night but really good “back and forth” battle, Franca by UD
I really think Franca’s time off/suspension did him in…..or maybe he is just rusty. In his last fight he seemed much slower and even a little frustrated. I still expect this to be a good match but it really sucks Tibau is out… I like him.
KOuch,I just can’t wrap my head around Tibau, he is talented and everything he is huge for the weight class but he just doesn’t seem to fight @ 100% I don’t know some things he does impresses me others not so much.
Tibau is a really smart jiujitsu guy its a shame hes out Marcus Aurelio is to so at least franco gets an opponet that has the same style as tibau

In different matches I’ve watched him try to fight by countering and another time I watched him try to push the pace the whole match. Same result both times…..he looked a little tired early. Perhaps it has to do with cutting weight….I really don’t know. I do hope this gives him a little motivation to kill his next opponent. I’ve noticed I pretty much like ALL fighters….there’s just a few who pissed my off in the past with dumb comments or actions. Tibau is all good in my book because hejust fights. I still see what you’re saying about fighting 100% though……maybe he just isn’t a gamer….Have you ever seen a GAMER?
The only “Gamer” I see consistantly is my little one and she just lost her stupid ass psp soo guess who gets to either find it or buy her a new one yay for me
I do get what u are saying forsure I’m. Just thinking that perhaps if it is the issue of cutting weight that drains him perhaps 170 isn’t a bad idea, but hopefully he trains harder and starts winning a few hey remember Cote is getting a title shot so anything is possible

Pink?!? AHHHHH!!!! I was at the 49ers game on Friday night and some guy 17-20yrs old had a pink T-shirt on that said “tough guys wear pink.” I told him he looked really pretty in his shirt and he was pretty embarassed in front of his friends……but he was asking for it. Weak guys don’t even wear pink!

Anderson is going to break/KO Cote in their first exchange of strikes. Speed is such a huge factor in MMA and I really think that is Cote’s biggest problem against Silva. Silva cold probably flick Cote into unconciousness.

Cote take 15 of Silva’s shots?!? LOLOLOLOL Superman couldn’t even handle that! Silva is going to KO Cote so bad that Cote’s mother craps her pants and falls unconcious too. I bet GSP will watch this match and say to himsel, “I am very impressed with Silva’s preformance…..I want nothing to do with fighting him.”
The funny thing is that Cote said the same thing that Irvin said now why in the world would he do that?
If I were Cote I’d feel like, “SHAT! Why me?!? This is f-d…….I’m going to get my ass kicked! F!” I know that train of thought will only get you hurt and set you up to lose but it is rational thinking. Cote is a brave soul to step in the cage with Silva but bound to be another victim none the less.
I wonder if Cote has contacted Irvin to see where he can get some of those pain killers…
Who in the world ever thought that Cote and Silvia would be a good amtch-up? Cote had his hands full with Leban. How well did Leben do against Silvia?

Plenty of people have made their arguement that Cote has a chance….. Honestly, If Cote somehow pulls off the impossible and wins I’d be excited and jumping around like crazy. Not because I’d be happy…..I’d just be amazed.
OK… so if Cote wins against Silvia, then he should fight Fedor on the same night… when all the luck in the world is on your side, you gotta take full advantage of it.
Wouldn’t the old school rules of no weight classes and tournament style be great right about now….. we could have Silva vs Fedor…..never going to happen but it is a great dream…..
In the early does of the first UFC fights, Gracie won because of his jits. The others used only their discipline. I don’t even remember anybody else that used jits back then. Now everybody that wants to be successful cross trains in various disciplines. I doubt that a small man like Silvia could beat a big man like Fedor in today’s game. I don’t think Silvia would have much more chance against Fedor than Cote has against Silvia.
big fight for franca he needs to win this fight, if he loses i think dana will kick him out

This probably will be do or die for Franca. He had a nice run of wins and it’s no disgrace to lose to Frankie Edgar or Sean Sherk, but if he loses this one, it’ll be 3 in a row. It seems like when a fighter gets 3 losses in a row, he goes to the bone yard.
cote cant beat spider and i dont think cote deserves a shot anyway…he should have had to beat a top contender first…like marquardt, kampmann, bisping, okami or dean lister first…and all these guys i believe would destroy cote
Franca is a tough dude. Did anyone see tose knees he took from Sherk? Devistating. My God it would have killed a horse. Franca will win hands down.
