EliteXC Officially Announces October 4th Main Card
EliteXC on Wednesday officially announced the main card for the promotion’s October 4th event at the BankAtlantic Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
As MMAFrenzy.com (www.mmafrenzy.com) reported on Monday undefeated heavyweight streetfighter-turned-mixed martial artist Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson will meet UFC hall of famer Ken Shamrock in the main event of the CBS-broadcast event.
In the co-main event EliteXC welterweight champion Jake Shields will put his 170-pound title on the line against Cage Rage welterweight champion Paul Daley.
Also on the main card the undefeated “Face of Women’s MMA”, Gina Carano, takes on Kelly Kobald and former EliteXC middleweight champion Murilo “Ninja” Rua returns against Benji Radach.
Additionally, Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos vs. Yoko Takahashi and Edson Berto vs. Mike Aine were announced for the event’s preliminary card. Crafton Wallace and Seth Petruzelli will also be in action on the undercard.

i just watched gray marnard one on one on the fight network im sure it got filmed a while back but when it showed them all traing with randy an forrest kimbo was there traing with them, i think kimbo is going to shock alot of people with is mma skills he must learn somthing traing with those sort of guys.
I have to watch because my hero Jake Shields is going to successfully defend his title in true champion fashion. Gina better enjoy her time as an undefeated champion because eventually Guyborg is going to beat her down like a guy. That really does not make me happy either. For the love of MMA Shamrock better beat Kimbo. If Ken fights stupid and loses, I’m going to call the IRS and make up allegations about him just so they pull his files to take a “look.” I swear to GOD! I never thought I would have so much heart and emotion behind Shamrock winning a match ever again. The fact that his opponent is Kimbo changes everything. Shamrock may be washed up but based on his past and status in the world of MMA it will be a sad day in MMA if Kimbo wins. Shamrock needs to put Kimbo on the ground and pound away or better yet go for a submission. Everyone knows Kimbo has ZERO ground game and that should be the easy way to beat him quickly. LETS GO KEN!!!! You grumpy old bastard!

I am sure Kimbo is learning but the problem is his lack of experience. Experience is the reason why I think Ken should be able to put Kimbo away easy. Then again, look at the Brock/Herring match. Experience did not help Herring at all. The big difference is, Brock is an athlete with a huge wrstling background oppose to Kimbo being a one trick punching pony.
We will see about that KOuch. I like Shields, But Daley is no joke either. Kimbo keeps getting hand picked compitition and so does Carano. When are these people gonna fight someone legit? Guyborg would destroy her and as for Kimbo, well he cant keep ducking Rodgers forever. I hope Shamrock takes it to the ground and use some of his washed up skills. If not nitghty night.

the other arguement tho is that it only takes once punch, for the sake of real mma fans i want ken to win cos hes a legand but for the sake of the future an guys like me who have only been watching 4/5 years i want kimbo to win he is sorta part of the future of mma not saying that hes ever guna be a champ but his name has pulling power for this sport to grow.
this is all just to set up their 1st PPV card… give their big names some cupcakes…so they can look great and then make money come Jan or Feb.. and that card will have Kimbo vs Rogers and Gina vs Cyborg…then maybe shields and lawler and a couple other of their “big named” fighters on the card….and raise your hand if you are NOT going to buy that card….i know im not the only one here…

Shields should do well. He’s a good fighrer. I expect Gina to win mainly becase she’s a good fighter but also because she’s the female Kimbo, EliteXC loves her. Lets her consistantly miss her weight. And Kimbo by KO in the first 20 seconds.

You might be right. It would be hard for me to stay away from a PPV like that…..mosty because of Shields. Then again, I would be willing to pay to watch Kimbo’s first loss. Along with that GUYBORG is a freak of a striker and I enjoy watching “it” fight. Strange, your post sold me and got me to want to see such an event. You may want to contact the Shaws and see if you can get into the promotions department of Elite.

I was pretty surprised that Tank let himself be knocked out with kimbo. it was pretty dumb, considering that tank has some know how in ground defence. i saw tank hold kimbo’s arms, then he just let him go! tank coulda had him on the ground.

Kimbo/Ken fight is going to be like watching the last Rocky movie. Ken still has the fire in his belly. I never thought when I was 16 years old and saw Ken fight in the UFC, that I would see him in a main event 15 years later.

My prediction: Scamrock the sleaze that he is will take a dive. Shamrock is totally washed up but still has a name, where else can he go? If Kimbo, this media-created piece of crap wins he’ll sell more tickets and unfortunately be around another 6 months. Scamrock is at such a different level and would destroy Kimbo in a real fight. There is no way Kimbo would ever fight Rogers, are you kidding me? Rogers is true BAD ASS and would wipe Kimbo away from my eyes for good. Nobody saw this coming through all that BS hype? EliteXC is trying hard to compete and can’t afford to make mistakes and lose attendance draws.
Wow this is turning out to be a pretty darn good card. And it’s free? MMA fans rejoice! The Kimbo lovers/haters and Shamrock lovers/haters will be out in large numbers on this one.

I just had a flash back of Shield’s last fight andf that beautiful submission early in the first round. Shield’s shifted himself on top of the Goat by using his big toe in the chainlinks of the fence to pull ALL his body weight over. Then he finished the submission with ONE arm. THE GUY IS BADASS and people won’t listen! What the hell is wrong with people?

Looks to be a good card worth watching . The fights are legit matchups on paper and Kimbo gets to fight someone who has skills other than punching power .Now elite xc needs to have eddie alvarez fight the Noones/Diaz winner and throw in JZ calvancante and the card get even better . How about a Crocop vs kimbo fight ? THAT SOUNDS GOOD !!! Elite and Dream seem to be on the same page so it can happen and CBS would be a great place to showcase both orgs talents .

It sounds like Tito wants to get back in the UFC and they might want Tito back. They’re probably good for each other. Tito is only 35. He should still be able to improve enough to compete, but he needs better jits if he plans to do that.
