Brett Rogers Proud To Be A Part Of EliteXC, Verbally Attacks Slice and Shamrock
EliteXC heavyweight contender Brett Rogers has issued a statement through Five Ounces of Pain on being bypassed by UFC hall of famer Ken Shamrock for the opportunity to fight Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Fergusson in the main event of the promotion’s October 4th event on CBS.
In the statement, Rogers, who has had a public feud with Slice since his controversial victory over James Thompson in the main event of EliteXC “Primtime” on CBS in May, verbally attacks both Slice and Shamrock, but not EliteXC, after the matchup was booked instead of Rogers taking on Slice.
“[Slice] is already more myth then Sasquatch, Chupacabra and a [expletive] unicorn combined. Kevin is the black Yeti,” reads a portion of the statement.

As for Oct 4th; that was our spot. Shamrock with his name and giant ego butted in line to get a slice of Kevin. At 103 years of age Ken usurped our rightful place against the YouTube champ. Our sincerest hope is that Ken whips Kimbo and then we can finally euthanize the “World’s Most Dangerous Man†and relegate him to some MMA dinosaur exhibit…If Ken proves to be more sham then rock and Fergi beats him, then the Slice hype grows even greater. Dude is already more myth then Sasquatch, Chupacabra and a fucking unicorn combined. Kevin is the black Yeti.

Kimbo needs to fight at least 2 more over the hill/untalented MMA fighters before he has a small chance against Rogers. Rogers is a boxer/wrestler and will destroy Kimbo. Kimbo fighting these type of guys, is not building experience and just makes him look really bad. Rogers spits some funny sh!t.

you know what’s funny? this kimbo/ken fight will be on cbs and one of the announcer’s is frank.
Brett is definitely doing a good job getting himself some publicity. First, calling out Kimbo at the press conference after the first CBC Elite XC and now this. I’ll be watching that fight. Then he can go to Affliction and get some big bucks, KOuch.
I agree with him about Elite XC taking care of their fighters and they are not afraid to let their fighters compete on other promotions.

rogers is a funny man. But he’s not right. Why should Kimbo be fighting the best elite xc has to offer? He’s a rookie. He has 3 fights. He should be fed easy fights for the first 2-3 years of his mma career. You only get better with experience. Look up all your favourite UFC fighters records and tell me if you recognize any of their opponents in their first 6-7 fights…
It’s not Kimbo’s fault Elite XC has made him their poster boy. What’s he gonna say, ‘no please don’t put me in the main event’ …’no please don’t give me that money, I don’t deserve it’
… I’d bet the house on Kimbo rocking the **** out of Brett Rogers. Rogers clearly is extremely overconfident, which is never a good sign heading into a fight.
There has to be a middleground between the title holders and the nursing home circuit though…
kimbo is ducking rodgers hard, I say give em tito next if they can sign him, you can sure tell though how much elite doesn’t want slice to lose, after this fight they will probably give him an easy title shot against someone who they consider number one contender, slice needs to grow some balls and pick a tougher opponent
and rob, about the looking up rookies first fights, i just looked up forrest griffins first opponent and it was dan severn while he was still in his prime, slice licks balls
Del, Forrest lost! And followed that up with 8 fights against nobody’s (where he won 8 in a row) only to lose to the first legitimate fighter he faced since severn (horn) where he lost. Again. That’s the whole thing, Elite XC doesn’t want Kimbo to lose. So they will give him easy fights where he can learn without having a loss. A perfect record is a huge draw. If they give him a title shot right away against a weak opponent, well then that’s pathetic, and honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked.
But for now, they’re doing everything right. People just have to stop thinking of him as a big time mma fighter…

It could be a “Stunt for more views” or EliteXC wants Shamrock more then Bret to fight Slice not because Shamrock is the better fighter then Bret , but because Shamrocks name will pull in more PPV’s then Bret’s name will. As for Bret using this as a Stunt I don’t think so this is this mans money and job, Shamrock has just stolen I’d be bad to, wouldn’t you?

No, what Elite is doing is ducking Rogers so that they can mega-hype it. For after the Diaz-Noons fight. Because without these gimmicks and fake rivalries they have nothing.

My prediction: Shamrock the sleaze that he is will take a dive. Shamrock is totally washed up but still has a name, where else can he go? If Kimbo, this media-created piece of crap wins he’ll sell more tickets and unfortunately be around another 6 months. Scamrock is at such a different level and would destroy Kimbo in a real fight. There is no way Kimbo would ever fight Rogers, are you kidding me? Rogers is true BAD ASS and would wipe Kimbo away from my eyes for good. Nobody saw this coming through all that BS hype? EliteXC is trying hard to compete and can’t afford to make mistakes and lose attendance draws.
Newer fighters today are fighting mid-level fighters at the beginning of their career. Lesnar took on Mir in his UFC debut. IMO I think they pulled the Coleman fight when they saw what Elite is doing with Kimbo, so they put him against a very tough Herring. Difference between the two, Lesnar trained for 2 years before his 1st K-1 fight, Kimbo is learning as he goes.
Good old fashioned hype for the Rogers/Slice fight. Good job by EliteXC for recognizing this and allowing Rogers to mouth off. If Slice somehow gets by Shamrock (unlikely) then this matchup will generate a LOT of viewers and could literally SAVE EliteXC.
I just hope they sign some more decent fighters.

Although this article is hilarious i feel if it were up to kimbo he’d fight rogers instead of shamrock. the “jurassic mma” comment was all well and good but didn’t include: Royce Gracie, Oleg Taktarov, Marco Ruas or even Don Frye. Elite XC will put the fight together when they feel it’s necessary. Plus i have faith in Bas Rutten training Kimbo the submission game.
