Ok folks, I don’t comment much anymore because most of the comments made here are by people who really only have a cursory knowledge of the sport. On this matter however, I have personal knowledge. Let me say if Irvin, (who in my opinion is a good fighter for the position he holds in the UFC, someone called him a “gatekeeper”) is taking methadone, there is a far more serious problem than a foot issue. Methadone is NOT a drug prescribed for casual pain. IT IS normally prescribed for addiction and it IS used to help people who have serious problems taking pain killers the way they are prescribed. Methadone is not handed out easily so there are issues somewhere that we are not aware of. Good Luck James.

Well then, let’s just see some of you lazy cowards go and train the way James does, and fight the big one then. Sure it was a mistake to take any painkillers that are not prescribed to you, he just needs to rebound from that and come back stronger. You try as you might to have your name on free t.v as top billing. It’s not as easy as you think and he did it.

Irvin was already in the WEC and he was the champion. He fought Doug Marshall twice and beat him badly both times. Irvin is too good for the WEC but not good enough for the UFC… He’s strong guy but has lousy defense. The top UFC guys exploit his lack of defense. Oh well… as long as he takes the pain killers, he’ll egt through it.

irvin isn’t a contender, he’s a gatekeeper for the up-and-coming talent so thy’ll propbably keep him around. i don’t see him getting the boot especially because his knockouts can be exciting.
