Okay KOuch first of all im not slick, dumb ass. I JUST HAPPEN TO THINK THAT THE GUY IS HILARIOUS, HELL I THINK HIM HUMILIATING YOU WAS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN ON THIS SITE. ill say it agin bj penn lost his last two fights as a welterweight to (gsp and matt hughes) so why even consider him for welterweight tittle shot.

The only way the UFC could have to enforce a criteria is if the fans started rejecting it (i.e. stopping going to see events and not paying for pay-per-view).
Otherwise they have no reason to enforce a critera; they are a business after all.

Not dissing your point that this should be fair, but the reality is that there would have to be a mass rebellion to cause a new match-up system to be enforced.

.. and that ain’t gonna happen.. the fact that there are 108 comments on this one page already shows that the system they currently have is pretty effective?

It’s not hard to understand….the UFC has a lot of big names and needs to find time for all the “great fights” we want to see. I know it’s a money game; whatever can bring in the most dollars. The light-heavyweight division is just too stacked, in my humble opinion, to be pulling near-crazy fights out of the hat just for a big payday. Soon we’ll be talking crazy matchups like Silva/Silva, Liddell/GSP and every other great fighter who wants to jump weight classes (Couture/Penn anyone? lol).

My simple point in this is that there needs to be SOME criteria to decide who “gets” to fight who for the title shot. And even Don King would shake his head at a fighter winning one fight and get a title shot.

maybe the ufc is just trying ot make great fights did anyone ever think of that? and to be honest besides chuck who else is forrest gonna defend the belt against this year? machida has a match coming up with tiago silva and chuck has one aginst rashad, and about bj having to prove himself in the welterwieght division…… he has already fought there in the ufc and beaten matt hughes a future hall of famer…. what more does he have to prove? and if you think about should the chuck and wandy fight even count towards wandys losing record? when you put in a performance like that both of the fighters should get a win. anyone agree?

one thing i havent heard anyone talk about is james irvin he has always had a glass chin so people saying anderson silva would knock chuck out easy (wouldnt happen) i hope ur not going off the irvin vs silva fight. and switch the fights would be great silva vs silva chuck vs forrest and bj penn he hasnt even defended his tittle cuzz the joe stevenson fight was a fake tittle fight.and he has lost his last 2 welterweight fights to gsp and matt hughes. so shouldnt get tittle shot. i would like to see the wec and ufc merdge and penn fight faber.
