Joachim Hansen: “I would rather have bleeding hemroids than fight for the UFC”

“I would fight anyone of the UFC light weights, but the problem is that I will never put my foot in the octagon after they (UFC) tried to be funny, I would rather have bleeding hemroids than fight for the UFC.
The Japanese MMA audience is the best in the world. They make magic! I would rather have one true Japanese MMA supporter than one million fake mainstream supporters that will turn their back on you as soon as you lose a fight.
I don’t care about things that are mainstream.”
PRIDE veteran and DREAM lightweight champion Joachim “Hellboy” Hansen (19-7-1) shares his distaste for the UFC and his appreciation of fighting in Japan in a recent interview with InTheGuard.tv.

wat a jackass BJ would kick ur ass anyway u nob
easy to talk sh1t if you aint gonna back it up.bottom line there are alot of lw ufc fighters that would reck him, but the japanese are great fans of mma and danna does like to scew fighters around and pay them peanuts so hes half correct.
Yeah……..he basically has a point.
If you have watched DREAM, you know he’s got crazy skills and toughness. This guy is nuts.
Affliction should hold a mini Grand Prix with 4 champions for the WAMMA Title. Invite the UFC, DREAM, Elite XC, Strikeforce, WEC. Winner takes belt to their organization. Penn would win, but Dana wouldn’t participate out of fear he doesn’t win. (Like Liddel at PRIDE 2003 Grand Prix) Or the publicity Affliction would get.
Hey Dana, take a chance with the weight classes you know you will definitely own. Get the WAMMA belts at 155 lbs, 185 lbs, and 205 lbs. Then bang your chest, tell the world the UFC rules them all. Oh I forgot, you won’t participate, because you believe the UFC is bigger than MMA.
Is it spelled hemroids in Japan? I think it’s hemorrhoids here. So, do they do the performance enhancing drug tests in Japan like here? I know that Pride was rumored to not do proper testing. Maybe that’s why he likes the Japanese MMA scene. The juice.
what a d-bag…I could understand him not wanting to fight in the ufc because of the pay scale, but because he doesn’t want fake mainstream supporters, thats bull****…anyone who watches mma watches the ufc….thats like someone sayin they don’t wanna play football in the NFL because of fair weather fans…what a ****…BJ would run through this guy
Cole, I agree except with the the degree of certainty with which you say BJ would run through him.
I need to bookmark this so I can link it whenever people ask why Dream isn’t big in the US. That attitude right there is it.
It’s true how different the fans are in Japan. Even the newbie fans are extremely respectful and knowledgeable; during events, you’re likely to hear people screaming things like “GO FORWARD!” and “BE BRAVE!” ass opposed to in America, where you’ll hear people yelling “KICK HIS F***ING ASS!” Fighters are much more disposable to American fans – you can tell by the enormous amount of sh** that is posted on the internet after every single UFC event.
Boo Hoo. I don’t make a million dollars in the UFC. Boo Hoo I have to get a real job. I am sick of the crying. If you are a great fighter you can make a lot of money. We read these bonuses they get sometimes. $60,000 bonus for knocking someone out. I am going to college and have to bust my butt as an Engineer to make that kinda of money. I know this rant won’t make a difference, but I officially will never watch Randy or Fedor. Greedy Di#%S. It’s no longer about the fight it is about the money. This sport is young and we already have this crap? Tito and his ground breaking contract. Who cares? Fight or go home. Obviously you need to make a living, but at least pretend you like what you do. Seriously though Randy, Fedor, and $6 Million each? Soon they will want all the treasure in the world and free lifetime passes to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. Nib High Footbal Rules!!!!!!!!
Oh and I also the love the UFC bashing. I hate it, but I’ll watch it. Stupid. The UFC is great. They will be the NFL of mma. There main goal is putting on great fights. I don’t care how much money they make as long as we keep getting great fights. Dana is dumb boo hoo. Like he gives a sh*t that you don’t like him? What do you want? Elite XC to run things? Affliction and their ring? Get rid of the octagon? MMA fans are retarded sometimes. Do you really this many people bashing other sports leagues? It is true though. YOu loose one fight and the fans turn on you. I am still hoping Alessio will make a come back. Be loyal. Unless it’s Tim Sylvia or Tito Ortiz.
If you don’t know who this guy is already, he doesn’t need you as a fan. Hansen is a warrior.
A lot of great fighters share Hansen’s disdain for the UFC. My guess is that Joe Silva was trying to get him to fight KenFlo in the UFC before the end of the year, and these comments are a retort to that; maybe they’ll be able to get Alvarez or Aoki, though it would be embarssing for the UFC if KenFlo (#1 contender) were to lost to someone from DREAM that most UFC fans have never heard of.
I log on and find the words of a poet like Hansen…nice…
I don’t know about you guys…but for me its all about the fights…If a fighter comes out there and bangs and goes all out and then loses…I don’t care, as long as he puts on a good show, I’ll wanna see him back….I love seeing wandi fight…even though he drops a couple every now and again…I mean losing is apart of MMA…it happens to everyone..
goodness everyone attack Hansen all at once, he didnt like the pay scale that was offered to him by the UFC, big deal, talk a little sh!t to make it be known and go about your business…..
BJ would win agaisnt Hansen but run threw him i doubt , it would end like the Sherk fight did imo… Hansen is not some nobody fighter he is highly talented and also a champion ala Jake Sheilds…. Hansen may fight in Japan and alot of people dont watch DREAM or wasnt that keen on PRIDE but whether he is Koing people getting ko’d himself or getting “gogo’d” by Aoki his fights are always entertaining….
Hansen’s hatred for the UFC hinges heavily on the fans unwillingness to guarantee him unconditional love? That’s some strange sh*t coming from a fighter.
Hansen isn’t all that great. sure he’s good, and entertaining, but the only reason he’s champion is cause Alvarez got that cut above his eye and wasn’t allowed to fight in the finals. Alvarez did beat him in the 2nd round of the dream lw grand prix. At that time, his record was a stellar 17-7-1. To say that Penn wouldn’t “walk thru him” is ridiculous. Cause Penn … well he’d walk right thru Hansen…
Who the hell is this guy anyway? Penn would kill him, Florian, Sherk, Huerta, and Diaz would smoke him too. Did he beat Melendez? Grow up boy, you wouldn’t step in the Octagon because they don’t want your a$$ son.
Nice going Hansen. I am of the firm belief that the fighters can complain and b*tch and moan all they want…it’s the leaders of the organizations (*cough* Dana ‘assbag’ White *cough*) that should always take the high road when someone speaks poorly of them.
While I take mild offense to the junction that all of us are just bandwagon riders he is right that the Japanese fans are the better fans overall. I hope DREAM continues to do well.
KOuch cannot comment because of the creative tone in which he would present his feelings. Kris would not be happy with what KOuch has to say. KOuch wants to show Kris that he can contain myself. KOuch thinks this fighter needs to look in the mirror, point his finger and laugh at himself. That is all KOuch can say without fighter bashing and hurting a fighter’s feelings.
Mr Hansen has a personal issue with success.
TheRob
when i think of BJ walking thru guys i think of the first Caol Uno fight he lirerally walked right thru the guy….. Hansen did lose to Alvarez and was an alternate came back and got revenge in Aoki, then he said he wanted to defend the title first to Alvarez, 19-7-1 is better than 16-8 hahaha just jokes
KOuch, i think Kris was impressed that u held back your true feelings on the situation, done nicely in 3rd person bravo!
“I don’t care about things that are mainstream”
o youre so indie, go slit your wrists
There is a bit of a back story to all this. Back when Zuffa bought out PRIDE (who Hansen was signed with at the time) they attempted to low ball him, offering him only about half of what his contract had already stipulated. When Hansen refused the offer, Zuffa held on to his contract as long as they could until it expired, as opposed to releasing him, forcing Hansen to sit out of competition for about nine months or so. Ahh, politics.
I’ve seen hansen fight, hes a good striker. But he is a mid level fighter. And while it would be a great to see him and Roger Huerta fight (that could be a war) He would lose to a technical guys like Kenflo. The UFC really does have the top talent in the world. Cro Cop came over as a unstoppable kicking meachine. He got beat twice in a row. Dan Henderson great Pride champ. Beaten by Anderson without a sweat. Its like going from the NCAA to the NFL. Speed is different and the level of comp is different, no Akron’s on the schedule anymore.
I would argue that american fans as they become more educated in MMA. And are learning to appreciate fighters and styles more and more. But it is a different culture, the Japanese will always be more loyal to a specific fighter than the US.
the japanese r weird there so scared of blood u get a yellow card for spittin blood out of ur mouth thats weak and no elbows?! no elbows wat is that happy horse****?!?! as for this guy i hope he does get a bleedin asshole other then that who cares bout him
He has a point with the pay structure.
Hansen is as someone a crazy fighter but TBH i dont think he is better than most mid carders in the UFC
No elbows in almost everywhere except USA because Elbows often cause bad cuts. In turn, bad cuts end fights early. I think you should only be able to throw elbows while standing. GnP elbows need to go. Hansen is a warrier, Penn would not walk through him. Hansen beat arguably the best submission fighter at 155 pounds, with the exception of penn, and he did it without even a scratch on him. You dinks need to realize that there are just as many or more amazing fighters fighting outside of America as there are fighting in it. Go back to worshipping kimbo, dinks.
hansen is the # 3 lw in the world …..bj would not run through him …..kenflo would get destroyed by him alot of the people are see saying joachim hansen isnt that good obviously only watch ufc and wec because hansen beat aoki….who alot of you probably havent ever heard but aoki was the # 3 lw with wins over most top guys i the world and also dream has eddie alvarez and pretty much thats crazy……alvarez, hansen and aoki would be the top dogs if they were in the ufc and are the only people i can see beating bj
chris thank you i agree
I bet Tyson griffin would work out a decision victory against probably all of the dream lw’s… but I don’t give him a chance against Penn. The ring and the cage are completely different games so to make the comparison is kind of pointless.
I hope Dream remains though, and Hansen goes on to lose his title to Alvarez…
Elbows do cause cuts, but it also keeps action moving on the ground. Its easy to hold wrists and work run the clock until the ref stands you up. With Elbows its another weapon that forces a grounded opponent to work to get out.
Yes Hansen beat Aoki. And while Aoki is a great submission fighter he has ZERO Standup. Hansen has never seen a fighter as complete as BJ. Hansen is a tough kid and his wars with alvarez was a nice watch. but he is basicly Roger Huerta. I don’t even see Hansen even Retaining the Title when he fights Alvarez again, let alone not getting pounded out by BJ.
Glad to see another fighter speaking out against the UFC. Don’t get me wrong I love MMA and the UFC, they put on some of the best fights I’ve seen. But enough is enough, the UFC isn’t going anywhere. It’s time the UFC started caring about the fighters that make the UFC what it is today. Dana White has spoke out numerous times on how the UFC makes the fighters and if it wasn’t for the UFC these fighters would be nothing. Dana White also thanks the Forrest Griffen VS Stephan Bonnar fight for saving the UFC. Which is it? Did the UFC make the fighers or did the fighters make the UFC?
hansen and alvarez was a close fight…hansen could have been the winner…it was very close and i think hansen/alvarez 2 could go either way……heavy handed strikers are the only people i can see beating bj and hansen is one i think bj would win though probably by split descion or submission…but if hansen catchs you he is good at capitalizing on it..so if bj got dropped it would probably be over
yeah thank you Eric for pointing that out because I doubt many people knew that. Honestly, one thing is that being Lo-balled on your contract isn’t a shocker when coming to the US because the cost of living is so high over there. The guy is a fun fighter to watch and to BJ would walk through him you are clearly uneducated. Don’t forget people BJ was supposed to walk through Jens Pulver the first time, and once again I am a BJ Penn fan. Do I think he would beat BJ no but that’s not to say it wouldn’t be a war. Whether you like him or not you can’t deny the guy is a good fighter if you have actually seen him fight.
As far as elbows go a lot of people complain that they should not be in MMA because they mostly just cause cuts and typically do less damage. Bad cuts end fights and Japanese fans do not like to see fights stopped by anything other than KO’s, TKO’s or submissions. Elbows will stay in because like aznstar said on the ground they keep the pace going.
Hansen also got subbed by the same ground fighter with very little stand up skills without a scratch on him…. very entertaining to watch Aoki when he is on his game…
1. BJ Penn
2. Alvarez
3. Gomi
4. Aoki
5. Kenflo/ Hansen
7. Stevenson
8. Sherk
hell i know i left people out but thats my top 155 group, the Japanese fighters fight @ 149-156 if im not mistaken but im probably just a dink anyways…
People who do like the UFC are people who cannot compete in the UFC. Or, people there are the people who are anti big business and see the UFCs success as a bad thing and hold that above the extreme amount of talented fighters. I will however agree that there are a lot of mainstream fans who only became interested when UFC started on SPIKE. There are of course others, like myself who have been watching the sport evolve since ‘93. Best fighters in the world are in the Sates and the UFC though, so there must be some legitimacy to us as fans and the respect we have for our fighters and the sport. As for Joachim “Hellboy†Hansen, as an average fighter in Pride, he’d be lower echelon in UFC.
It is easy to say you would never join an organization that does not want you. Poor boy has gotten his feelings hurt and wants to act like it is his choice not to fight in the UFC. He is a scrub and likes to fight in Japan because he gets to fight other scrubs. Garbage in garbage out and Hansen is garbage.
if i was hansen id rather fight in japan..i mean you got all the hot asian chicks wanting to hold your lightweight belt not to mention good money and awesome fans…sounds like heaven to me
I have bleeding hemroids…….I’d rather have them than be Hansen……I’d rather be bleeding hemroids in someone else’s arse and get shat on daily by food poisoning than be Hansen….ahhh…I blew it.
gunslinger,
I 100% agree that it does indeed sound like heaven. Mainly due to the hot asian women wanting you. That is all I’d need. And a little cash to live…
Why would he hate American fans? Maybe because of fans like us (me included) who talk **** about fighters just to do it. Hansen doesn’t hate the UFC because he couldn’t get in, while he may not match up ugainst the best (Penn, Florian) he could hold his own in the UFC. And remember Hansen didn’t say he would beat any of the UFC LWs he said he would fight them. If any of you think that he wouldn’t, you are wrong.
Rock Solid,
Here are your same words, but mixing in what happened with Fedor.
“It is easy to say you would never join an organization that does not want you. Poor “UFC” has gotten his feelings hurt and wants to act like it is his choice not to have “Fedor” in the UFC.”
It is the same situation. Dana started putting down Fedor, when Fedor didn’t want the UFC.
Gonzo,
You da man.
Let’s call it like it is. He doesn’t want to fight in the UFC because (much the same way Nelson didn’t meet the physical shape requirement) Hansen wouldn’t meet the “not a pale as f*ck freak albino” requirement and the UFC wasn’t going to pay for his visits to the tanning salon.
I hope that wasn’t too offtopic. I’m not sure my fragile ego could take another banning.
DBiz,
you are hilarious. That’s the second time I read you “not a pale as” comment. And I cracked up again.
dbiz,
he said he wants bleeding hemroids not skin cancer!
