Fedor Emelianenko “Ready To Go” By New Years Eve
WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelieanenko will be healed from his recent hand injury in time to compete by New Years Eve, reports Sports Illustrated.
“I think definitely by New Year’s Eve I’ll be ready to go,” Emelianenko told SI. “My desire at this point is to meet with the winner of the fight [between Arlovski and Barnett], but I still have a desire to fight with whomever loses as well.”
Emelianenko was to fight former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arloski in the headline bout of Affliction 2 on October 11th but was forced off the card due to a lingering hand injury re-aggravated in his first-round submission victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia in July. Emelianenko was ultimately replaced by Josh Barnett and the winner of the main event matchup will take on “The Last Emperor” for the WAMMA title down the road, but not on a potential New Year’s Eve card.
Recent rumors about Emelienanko’s next opponent centered on a rematch with PRIDE and UFC veteran Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic but, according to the report, Emelianenko will instead fight a “judo legend or sumo wrestler” at the New Year’s Eve event.

If that stacked card drew 100K how many people are gonna spend $40 bucks to watch Fedor beat some random Japanese guy? Over under 40,000 buys? I’m going under. Especially if they go head to head with the UFC that weekend. I am pretty sure if affliction goes head to head with UFC. Dana stacks that card. It will Be GSP Penn, Nog Mir, Shogun Rampage, Wanderlei, and maybe even forrest Chuck if they just want to make sure affliction get zero buys. I can’t wait to see how this plays out

so what would happen if Affliction put on a Fedor/Randy card in violation of Randy’s UFC contract? They would probably get sued…but i guarantee that they would make waaay more money than they would get sued for.

Yea I’m pretty sure the UFC doesn’t sue for a couple million. I’m sure they try to take everything from Randy and all the revenue from the fight. So probably not the best idea.

1st I’m pretty sure the UFC would go out of its way to make sure that they get nothing for trying to violate a contract. And I’m pretty sure the Judge would be hella pissed that you would so arrogantly think you could do this while they were ruling on it, they would give evrything to the UFC.
And I think anderson silva is a monster. But Fedor is just to big and to strong for that. He would be moving up 2 weight classes to fight a guy who would still be 50 to 60lbs heavier. The same way I know GSP can’t beat anderson. to much power, to much size difference.

Randy dominate Fedor!?! No way. By the time it ever happens Randy will just be older. He is the master of coming up with great game plans but I feel now is Fedor’s time. Fedor has the youth advantage in that match up and he is THE P4P best fighter in the world.

Fedor vs. Randy would be great. However, I’m starting to believe the fight will never happen.
At this point, I’m sure Randy would rather not fight, than to lose it. He is an icon.
He doesn’t need the money and at this point he can always just say, “UFC had me in contract dispute, so we’ll never know who would’ve won.”
He is one of the best fighters ever, however, we wasn’t unbeatable. Fedor apparently is.

People people people… there is a reason we have weight classes in MMA these days. I am a fan of both Fedor and A. Silva but to think Silva stands a chance in that fight is ludicrous at best.
These are no longer the days when a 180lb Royce Gracie could take down and submit a 300lb striker. All the fighters in the established organizations are so well rounded it doesn’t allow for that anymore. Not counting the freak show spectacles the Japanese promotions put on either of course. But bottom-line is we have weight classes for a reason.
A bulked up 205+ lb Silva I think probably couldn’t even beat Brock Lesnar let alone to think he could stand with Fedor Emelieanenko. And I hate Brock Lesnar let me add. lol. But sheer size and force, plus wrestling skill there is enough if you ask me.
I want to see Fedor vs Arlovski. I think Andrei with his speed and boxing skills is a very dynamic fighter who could potentially take it to Fedor. Fedor isn’t all that use to fighting speed. Arlovski is a fight he is not accustomed to.
As for A. Silva…… please there is only one fight the world wants to see. Someone tell Penn to stay in his own weight class and let the real men fight for lb for lb, best fighter in the world. GSP vs A. Silva.

Look I’m a huge UFC fan just like you but seriously you need to get your head out of your a$$. Have you ever seen Fedor fight. Randy might have been able to win. That’s a big might in my opinion but he would have never dominated Fedor. Randy has 8 losses compared to Fedor’s one (which was a fluke). Randy has fought some really top level fighters in his time and I’m not trying to take anything away from him but you can’t say that he would dominate.

I think old Captain America has taken a PR barrage from Dana and Zuffa and this fight is increasingly difficult to sell because Randy isn’t a hero. The window is closing on his career. The smart thing to do is a joint promo….

Lets just look at the fights both fighters had with Silvia’s tard ass. It took Randy 5 rounds to take the 6′8 pile of ****(I didn’t know they stacked **** that high) when it took Fedor 36 seconds. Both fighters had knockdown punches over Silvia in the first round the difference is Fedor capitalized on his downed opponent when Randy didn’t. Randy cant handle an elite striker like Fedor or his judo. Randy won’t be able to make SK3 after Fedor ends his MMA career…that is if this fight happens before the earth blows up in 2012

Fedor is great at fighting giants so likely that will be the case. Japan could care less about U.S. PPV buys so that won’t even be on their mind. It will just be extra spending cash should people buy it. Unless the card has a few others I doubt I will buy it. I miss PRIDE.
