i hope jon fitch will tear up gsp. also brock lesnar winning by tko with ground and pound would be fun to watch. and above all, i pray roger heurta bashes that **** kenny florian with a knockout. that would make my month right there haha
crock,
I’m with you on Fitch. He’s the underdog no doubt but I feel he is more an underdog to the masses due to fans not knowing of him very well. I’m with you on Brock too. The only thing I feel different about is Huerta. After watching Dana’s interview on thescore.com and listening to Huerta try to fix what he said, I want KenFlo to destroy Huerta……and Huerta was one of my top 3 fav fighters until this past week.
I love how Fitch has his chinese art tattoo on the left side of his chest at the weigh-ins, and the right side of his chest in the picture above.
Huerta only wants money cause he knows what he is. We don’t know what he is yet, but he’s years ahead of us. I think he can obviously tell the future and he knows what he’ll be worth to the UFC. That said, he’ll KO Florian in the pre fight stare down, with mind power.
the rob,
ya i noticed that too?…KRIS do you know why its like that
Thats the way the camera lense photos things, backwards. look at any of your home photos, better yet look a mirror, same thing.
I’m pretty sure they just inverted the pic so that they don’t have the 2 of them facing the same way.
I can’t wait for this card. I got my picks in and I’m hoping to make some Cash off Brock and Kenflo.
GSP TKO
Lesnar TKO
Florian TKO
jon jones throws so really fancy strikes..he looks really good!
i hope Cheik wins he looked focused @ the weigh~ins and i just cant simply wait for this card
So, this jones dude has only been in MMA for 5 or 6 months, and he has a win in the UFC. Impressive.
based on Fitch’s performances in the octagon, he’s gonna face the same destiny as Hughes and Koshchek in the octagon. Fitch is a puppy still and GSP is a lion compared to Fitch. Fitch will lose by TKO in the 2nd round, because he will barely make it out of the first. Lesnar will win by decision and Kenny Floria will win by referee stoppage due to severe hellbow cuts in Roger’s face…he’ll no longer be recognizable as a CK model…lol
I was surprised reading Cheick doing so many take downs. I remember the Crocop fight where it was mostly using reach and clinch advantage. Kind of what Kendal Grove does every fight.
I hope Brock keeps a cooler head in his fight with Herring. I know he can go places as long as he plays an intelligent game.
ya he is really good…..im surprised the ufc didnt put him in the ultimate fighter mir vs nog instead of just a debut
4-0 on my undercard bets.
Rush, come on dude, you think Lesnar by decision. That’s kinda funny. You might be the only person predicting that outcome.
What is going on? The Manny-Emerson fight was supposed to be before the Mcdonald-Maia fight, now it’s after the Huerta-KenFlo fight. Did I miss something and it got canned?
Macdonald vs. Maia looked like a great grappling match. I know when the UFC first started to get mainstream notice, the new fans hated grappling contests in the UFC, but slowly they have been noticing how more technical they can be. I know Joe Rogan, has tried to explain the complexities of grappling on air to the new fans and I give him props for it!
where can i watch the fights free online!?!?!?!
Kenny Florian did his best Lyoto Machida impersonation.
I’ve ripped roger and said he would get ground n pounded in the 2nd. But I give Roger credit fought a hell of a fight, he just isn’t there yet.
I am the only one that hates that little rat ‘KenFlo’? If you guys **** about people backing up you should be ****ing about him. He won that fight, but managed to make a Huerta fight boring. I HATE HIM!!!!
30-27 on every judge’s scorecard??? Huerta had at least the first round where Florian wasn’t the aggressor at all and was barely landing. Huerta won that round because he was the aggressor and was landing more.
TOTALLY AGREE E-ROC!!!!!
to whomever called me out about my Huerta pick by UD, i will have to say i was wrong bottomline cuz Kenny Florian finishes fights haha, hopefully Huerta got a little humbled and doesnt think he deserves BJ Penn money cheers…
with the backing up thing….. I still had florian winning 30-27
Florian was definitely the winner of all three rounds on my card but the fight was definitely closer than the 30-27 scores indicate. If Huerta lands a few more good strikes or gets a takedown in any of the rounds then they could have easily gone in his direction but in my eyes Florian was the clear winner.
Can we please get Rob Emerson outta the UFC??? Please. Why is he on the main card when Kongo is on the undercard?
MacDonald-Maia was a great technical fight. It was very smooth and didn’t really slow down as they just kept going back and forth with several near finishes for both fighters.
It’s hard to call the event awards yet but barring something huge in the remaining three fights I think Maia gets submission of the night and its definitely in the running for fight of the night.
HA! I guess I’m an idiot
Cheick Kongo still isn’t confident in his ground game. This dude could be scary if ever gets a clue about brazilian JJ.
LOL, OUCH!
That’s why Rob has a job
Yeah, Ethan I agree, I have said it always and will say it again Huerta is overrated. He looked a lot better than I thought he would, but he still got beat 30-27. Time to negotiate that contract I guess, huh?
well i guess emerson just suprised a lot of people
6-for-6 on my bets so far. Betting wise I’ve got Herring and GSP in the final two fights.
Karo can comfort his cousin tonight. Ha
Kris, you picked Herring? Wow. I hope you’re right, but I didn’t put any money on that fight. So unpredictable.
Ethan – I think Emerson proved he belongs in the UFC
Plus now you get to see Kongo anyways because he took care of Manny in just 12 seconds.
I didn’t like Florian when he first debuted on the Ultimate Fighter, he seemed more like a hobbyist and didn’t take it as seriously. But since he got a conditioning coach and upped his muay thai I have been more and more impressed by him.
100 bucks on kongo
rutdog – Yeah I picked Herring betting wise. I see it as a pretty even fight, maybe slightly in Herring’s favor because of his experience but the odds have Herring at +190 which I think is a pretty good value.
I’m already up like 50% on the night so I can afford to lose the last two fights but Herring was definitely a value play for me.
Florian’s a decent guy too outside of fighting. I got to meet him in October at UFC 77 and he was really chill hanging with fans, signing autographs, and stuff. Stayed at the bar we were at for probably two hours and was much more fan friendly than Keith Jardine
Who thinks liddel will win over evans
Despite his loss tonight I still think Manny has a lot of potential, but he needs to alter his gameplan. Sure rushing out might catch your opponent off guard the first time or two but tonight was a perfect example of why you shouldn’t do it in every fight.
Emerson on the other hand surprised a lot of people tonight and is definitely on the rise as he’s won two straight fights in the UFC and six-straight overall.
Kongo walking off on Rogan was hilarious. Can you say language barrier?
I still can’t believe you picked Emerson. Manny is so much more well rounded. That’s a hell of a call Kris. I guess thats why you do what you do and I watch the fights from my couch.
take a look at the end of the fight….or not
Again, Kongo is a beast in the stand up, but once the fight goes to the ground, he is a fish out of water. He really looks confused on the ground.
Yeah, that was hilarious, Kris. Rogan took it well though. Another person would’ve probably gotten pissed.
Herring is hilarious; if only other fighters would have that type of personality. Brock can work the mic too; obviously learned that from his days in the WWE.
Brock looks smaller since his fight against Frank Mir.
Ah, nevermind. Joe Rogan said Brock is coming into the match at 280lbs. I need new eyeballs, I guess.
i hope this lesnar fight is a blood bath
Rogan handles everything pretty well. You have to expect it with the job.
Lesnar cuts to 265 then puts about 15 back on before the fight.
I never expected a second round in this fight.
Lesnar’s wrestling is FOR REAL, is he we shall see overtime but damn that guy can wrestle again i was wrong on that pick nice to see Lesnar go 3rounds and throw punches that connect, cheers
I gotta give credit to Herring for hanging in there. That was a major beating. I don’t like to see the cocky crap from Lesnar after he won his first fight in the UFC.
yeah, that was a totally different fight than I expected. I thought he’d bumrush Herring and win in 90 seconds, but I was wrong.
can u see me now?
GSP wins. Fitch is a great fighter , but come on …. he’s out of his league.
Brock has the tools, but he needs to learn how to finish a fight. He let Heath recover by holding him. He did nothing on the ground. I kinda wish he started earlier in his life at this, I think if he had more experience we might be talking P4P good
I give Lesnar his props, but maybe he should learn a little class. Impressed by his wrestling and those punches but what’s a guy to do when a 280 lb guy sits on you for 15 minutes. And what’s with the can you see me now?
I always knew Brock was for real; he just had to prove. I’ve seen him in the WWE when he was weigh 320 and still moved liked just did in the octagon. Some say GSP is the best athlete in the UFC; he has some stiff competition in Brock Lesnar.
Brock speed and athleticism is crazy. I can’t wait ’til he learns BJJ. He has definitely improved. Controlling Herring throughout the matchup. Crazy!
I think Lesnar’s legit and definitely a contender for the heavyweight title.
As much as people may not like his personality its hard to disagree with his performance against a veteran like Herring. His sheer size, strength, and wrestling ability goes a long way and if he can round out his striking and ground game he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with. Keep in mind, he’s only 31 and has only fought three times in his career.
He has a lot of room to improve but looked really, really impressive tonight.
I think anyone of us would act similar to Lesnar if we won the biggest fight of our career in dominating fashion in front of our hometown crowd.
Maybe your right but I am used to classy guys like GSP who won the title in his home town, in the very first UFC in Canada and still acted like a man not a dick.
I think calling him a dick is a little much as I think he was just excited, perhaps a little too much, but nevertheless, his personality aside, he’s a legitimate mixed martial artist and proved that tonight.
BTW I was at UFC 83 when GSP won the title in April and it was an awesome atmosphere, by far the best event I’ve attended live.
Fitch showed some heart being able to make to the third round.
GSP is not a increadable striker imo
Um, GSP is the man. I can’t wait to see BJ-GSP 2
Fitch has just earned my respect fully tonight. he’s taking a beating and keeps coming.
Fitch is hanging in there. Showing some massive heart.
he seriously (GSP) has power yet clearly not ko power imo yet he is owning this fight i thought it was GSP by kimura in the forth now its starting
UD by GSP yet a good fight now the 5th round
Good to see GSP doesn’t want to give up his belt as easily this time.
FR702 I agree. He caught Jon as clean as you can with an overhand right and couldn’t finish him. I got mad respect for Fitch, but GSP can’t finish him standing up.
I said the same thing when GSP fought Kos, but who was the college wrestler here?
GSP is awesome it shall be a true “super fight” versus BJ Penn
BJ looked like he wanted to destroy GSP where he stood, i will go ahead and BJ aka baby J will take GSP in their next fight
LOL @ BJ Penn. Penn is a cool dude.
As for the who the wrestler was in that match, GSP got his takedowns but he didn’t really dominate Fitch on the ground. GSP got some good punches in but that was it. Fitch’s guard is underrated, IMO. GSP didn’t pass his guard once in the match. He got to half guard and that was it.
This was a good match. Fitch proved his worth. He was just outclassed by a better fighter. Finally, the real GSP came to this match; although i did get this sinking feeling of a phantom punch from Fitch landing on GSP when they were standing.
I think Fitch benefits immensely from this loss. It gave him a ton of exposure plus he proved he’s tough as hell and will definitely be a legitimate contender in the future in the 170-pound division.
As far as what’s next, I think GSP-Penn 2 is definitely going down, probably on December 27th. As far as Fitch, I expect he’ll likely fight the winner of Sanchez-Alves or perhaps someone like Matt Hughes, Karo Parisyan, or Matt Serra. Of course the fight that probably should happen against Koscheck never will because they’re training partners but there’s still a number of bouts out there for Fitch.
GSP’s wrestling is outstanding, might be the best in the UFC.
Yeah same here E-ROC, everytime Fitch would get hurt but not finished I kept feeling more and more that he was gonna catch GSP in an armbar or with a lucky hook.
I feel like GSP should’ve finished in the (3rd)? when he had Fitch wabbled on the fence asking for his mouthguard. Can’t quite figure it out. Fitch is a really tough guy that will always be right at the top of the division, but doesn’t have championship skill.
Changing topics… I wish people who don’t fight on a given night would stay the hell out of the cage. I hate it when they come in to try and steal the glory from a guy that just won. I know GSP has done it before too, but I just hate it.
Compare and contrast Penn’s in-cage appearance after the main event with the brawl that erupted in EliteXC when Diaz called out KJ Noons. Just shows how classy the UFC and its fighters truly are.
It’s just amazing how different the two promotions are.
What grades do ya’ll have for the PPV?
I wonder how Karo reacted. Personally I felt bad for Manny because his little head looked identical to a bobble head toy and the human cranium should not look like that.
My PPV cut off at the end but I noticed some guy show Dana a cell phone(I’m assuming a text message)in the background and BJ saying “wanna do it” and then boom!! No more UFC for KOuch. It was over. The PPV was gone.
Brock Lesnars straight punch reminded me of a super hero…..nt sure which one but it will come to me. His wrestling/ground game was absolutely dominant. I think we have a true champion in the making. His power is unbelievable. Brock controlled Heath at will. Heath may be past his prime but the fact that Brock dominated a fighter with that much experience says a lot. Brock has no reason to have any doubters after this fight. (Kimbo does)
i like fitch’s never quit attitude.GSP v BJP,i can’t wait!
I’m not so sure it wasn’t at the UFC’s urging Ethan. It’s clear that the UFC wants Penn and St-Pierre to fight next and this is an easy way of hyping the fight and getting people excited for it without disrespect.
The UFC is for sure going to book GSP-Penn 2, it’s just the right time. After months of “Florian-Huerta winner fights for the title” it suddenly changes to a maybe and Penn and St-Pierre essentially announce the bout after one of the bigger PPVs of the year.
There are situations (read Nick Diaz calling out KJ Noons) where another fighter entering the cage ends up very bad but both were very respectful and courteous and I think that can only help the UFC and differentiate it further from competitors.
I agree moose. Fitch definitely moved up a notch in my books tonight despite losing.
i wonder if brock has passed his post fight physical?
anstar,,,,,, im sitting here with my best friend and he doesnt thin BJ can out strike GSP now im showing him BJ v Gomi, he i believe he is a believer in BJ random perhaps yet im just sayin without GSP having ko power how can he be beat by GSP if he doesnt gass again i know andhave seen the splut decision win by GSP yet BJ did gas
Yea BJ’s striking is very underrated. And what’s funny is BJ’s hands are so much better now, than in that fight. GSP caught Fitch a ton of time and has great speed but couldn’t close it out. And Fitch who isn’t known as a world class striker clearly did some damage to GSP’s face. I think BJ saw the fight and knows GSP isn’t invincible, cause despite how much GSP owned him he showed some holes.
huerta looked good, too aggresive didntland as much as florian, kenny didnt throw much but landed everything thats what determined the fight. same as submission attempts beat defences, landed shots beat burrages of missed shots..
lesnar is a different case.. he makes be a blanket look good, but i expected alot more out of him. he layed down sometimes too long for what you expect from him which is only hype. mma wise i expected what he did, used weight and strenght to secure his win and not get caught so good job to lesnar.
gsp fitch was very good and theres no way i think ufc wouldnt offer fitch and herring huge contracts for tonight. those guys are survivors for sure and that i believe counts for alot, never giving up even when your already beaten and hurt as hell
I want to see Lesnar vs Kimbo!
Overall I was disappointed in this PPV. I was really, really rooting for Huerta. I was 1,000,000% rooting for Heath Herring to stomp a beating into Brock Lesnar. In the main in event, I was going to be disappointed and happy both ways that fight ended up. I am happy GSP won, because there isn’t anything not to like about GSP but I feel the same way about Fitch. He is tough as hell, showed the strength of his jaw tonight lol, and is a pretty decent fighter. He could use a little more experience before challenging for the title at 170 again.
Brock Lesnar is a clown and is going to be bad for UFC. He may put butts in seats right now, but his fights are not entertaining. He just laid on top of Herring and waited out a decision. HE THREW ONE PUNCH!! It hurt, but that was it, after that one punch in the first round he just laid on him and worked casually. Why is he bad for UFC? The shove he gave Herring after the bell after round one was busch league and he would have learned not to do something like that if he would have worked his way up in this game like EVERYONE else. He would have been at some small show in Kenosha and would have done something like that and would not have made it out of the tent the event was being held in. Then his antics after the match with the microphone were embarrassing. Not one time did he say something about his work to be a better fighter or did he thank Heath for the fight and the hard work he put forth to fight. He just talked about how great he is, someone needs to tell him this is not the WWE. This isn’t where you continue to talk trash about someone after the fight. Pre-fight, thats fine, it is usually hyped up by editing after the interviews anyways but the good fighters leave the crap in the fight, that is garbage. Even Tito Ortiz would at least thank his training partners and the fans, that Lesnar clown just talked about how awesome he was.
EMAN – Lesnar vs Slice? That would be better for MMA if that was just done in Lesnar’s backyard and loaded onto youtube!!
After tonight, p4p fighters top 5 list goes…
1. Urijah Faber
2. Fedor Emelianenko
3. GSP
4. Anderson Silva
5. Forrest Griffin
So it looks like Roger won’t be getting his BIG contract with the UFC- oh well he didn’t look like he was into the fight anyways. I’m glad that Brock won and yeah he could’ve stopped the braggin’ but hey he WAS an entertainer… And isn’t it just AMAZING to see Manny on his ass! And the night ended with the best pound for pound fighter in the world- GSP!
Did anybody else catch that they didn’t put Ramage on the big screen? Bad press or what?
I was ****ing surprise to see BJ jump in the octogone. He really want this fight and it will be ****ing crazy. Champion versus Champion
Some will chalk up Lesnar’s win to a case of styles make fights, since Jake O’Brien was able to have similar success taking down Herring and grinding out a unanimous decision win. But O’Brien did little more than ride Herring like a merry-go-round in that fight, causing virtually no damage to his foe in the process. Lesnar, by contrast, handed the ‘Texas Crazy Horse’ a beating, rendering his face a bloodied and swollen mess after three vicious rounds.
