Quinton “Rampage” Jackson Makes Public Appearace at UFC 87 Press Conference
In his first public appearance since being arrested last month in California on hit and run charges, former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, joined by UFC President Dana White and several other UFC fighters who will be in action tomorrow at UFC 87, took to the stage yesterday at the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota for the public pre-UFC 87 press conference.
“Rampage lost the fight to Forrest Griffin. He hung out in Vegas for a week. He was hanging out by the pool and he was fasting. He wasn’t drinking. He wasn’t eating. He was drinking energy drinks,” said White at the press conference. “You saw what happened on TV, the problems that he had. They took him in for psychiatric evaluation for over 72 hours. What they came back with was that there was nothing wrong with him mentally, it was physically. He was exhausted. He had severe dehydration. And that caused something called delirium.”
“I’m already training, so my next opponent better watch out,” said Jackson. “…That was the worst mistake I ever made, I got Dana over my back all the time. ‘Did you eat? Did you sleep? Drink your water?’ It’s like I’m two years old, but it’s all good. I love Dana man. He’s the first one to really take care of me and show me love.”
With his physical problems apparently behind him and legal ones still looming ahead, White expects Jackson back in the octagon soon.
“Apparently they tell us he’s over it now, said White. “He is healthy mentally and physically. He will be back in the UFC soon.”

where’s the rest of the story? dude i’m not sure if rampage should jump right back into the cage so soon, especially since there are still legal issues to deal with. If he does come back soon, it’s definately going to be “the axe murderer”. That would be a great fight!

That would def. be a great fight! But I don’t know if Rampage could handle a 2nd straight loss overall and 3rd loss to the hands of Silva. I think Dana should give him a fight against vera or Jardine. Someone with a good rep and name but that he can probably beat.

if he were to face Wanderlei in Dec he probably would lose and my thoughts are why would Dana/Joe Silva do that to him? this is actually a time where i kinda wish that Tito had one more fight left on his contract (ofcourse to see Rampage destroy Tito)….
perhaps the UFC will put him up against that Brazilian kid that Thiago beat @ UFC 84 or someone of that caliber i dont think putting him in with Wand is the best idea for him, remember the last time they fought Rampage was hanging out of the ropes ko’d and if they do fight it will be Rampages 2nd loss in a row then what?

Yeah i don’t know a bout that one. Even though Tito is on the downside of his career I don’t think that would have been a good match up. Tito is still a dangerous fighter and could have possibly upset Rampage. It would have been a good fight to see though.
y is everyone worried about what’s best for rampage. trust me, he has plenty of $ and if he does fight wanderlei, he’ll be making beacoup cash. that’s a treat for all the fans. mir vs. nog, penn vs. huerta/florian, wandi vs. rampage, all they need is a crazy WW fight, maybe hughes serra will fight on that same card. that would be sick!!!
im worried cuz if rampage loses he might go on a killing spree at the arena… and kelvin mat/mat wont happen. hughes can’t fight for 6 to 7 months. but that would be awsome

there it is kev, if Machida wins and assumebly Chuck wins, Chuck gets the title shot in Dec (because whats the last show of the year without Chuck Liddell) then Machida and Rampage should fight for the #1 contender spot when and where and why? i leave that up to you, but that would be a wonderful test for both fighters, Rampage wont let Machida get too far away from him (Machida is skilled, not Starnes in my opionion) and if Machida gets past Thiago then we will see how “good” Machida is, randomly put outhere…..

I hope he gets a decent match up though for his next fight. I would love to see him bounce back and make a run at it again. He’s usually very entertaining and explosive.
I find it almost unbelievable that Rampage is just hanging out, eating out, enjoying life with Dana etc, while the family that just lost their unborn child because of Rampage’s actions are doing anything but that. Your actions got someone killed, someone that hadn’t even had a chance at life yet and you can go out and smooze with the big brass……unbeleivable.

I don’t live there any more (had to get our of that cold A** winter but I am so wish I were in town for UFC 87. Rampage seems like he’s back on track - can’t wait for his next fight.

Hey, i don’t believe it had anything to do with rampage either, but until jackson has his court date, and is in the clear, having him making public appearances just seems bad business….
not to be harsh or anything and it is a horrible thing that she did mis~carry and all of the “facts” of that particular crash havent been released but i thought she was like ten weeks in to the pregnancy and she is like 38 which for “older” women arent miscarriages usually around the ten to 13 week part of the pregnancy…. again it is horrible yes but……
yeah, i think it’s a general theory that most, if not all of the people who comment on this site believe rampage’s actions had nothing to do with her miscarriage. Still though…

Everyone thought Rampage was unbeatable. But I saw him on PRIDE lose twice to Wanderli, Shogun Rua, and he should have lost the decision to Ninja Rua. He was surprised when he was announced the winner.

H8Rampage, you need to take a step back… the lady wasnt hit by rampage, her car was barely swiped by his truck which resulted in some paint scraped off and a broken mirror… there was no major impact to the vehicle, hell her air bags didn even pop…
a good friend of mine who was 6months prego, was hit while walking by a car, she didnt miss-carry and she has a whole bunch of medical issues…
if she had miss-carried that day or the next day, the minor accident would be a contributing factor, but since it was over a week after it happend, i dont think that the minor collsion made a lick of difference… maybe her high stress lifestyle was the main factor, after all she is a very busy business woman…
i want everyone to drop this whole rampage murdered a baby BS, if he had t-boned her it would be a different story… i think this broad is just tryin to get paid… more needs to be known about her health history, before you can put the blame on rampage
I know quinton has lost to vanderlai twice but right now he’s in the perfect mindset to beat him. Remember the first loss to vanderlai was kinda bull**** he did fight and knock out chuck liddell literally immediately before he fought vanderlai and it took like 12 direct knees to the head before the ref called it. Now he’s back on the horse, he got a fight under him so the cobwebs are out and he’s desperate for a win. I’ve already spoken to chris reilly about it and he’s back in the gym prepping already. with no fight actually scheduled yet. all fighters continue to train all year but not like Quinton is right now. Trust me i talk to his trainer at least twice a week. he owns my gym and trains alot of us there including my trainer jeremy williams, so i have access to alot of insight.
Quinton may not be fighting so soon. If the woman who had a miscarriage because of his “episode” sues, he’ll be in court for a while.
This all seems a little too contrived. “Oh yes officer, I had my own little episode of Cops, hit cars, drove down sidewalks, and ran from the cops. But I’ve had some water and a Gatorade so now I’m fine.”
He wasn’t “out of it” when he finally surrendered to the police. I hope the guy comes out of this okay, but he has a price yet to pay.

just a questions, with all do respect how was Wanderlei’s wins v Rampage bs?? if i were to say that when Rampage ko’d Chuck last year was bs because the staredown was too intimidating, u would have the same question for me….

Wow look at all the experts. doctors cleared him, so Rampage is good to go. No one knows all the details as to why he was in the state he was.
But severe dehydration will mess you up, but it’s easily fixed, drink some damn water!!!! Problems solved. Now the underlying reasons why he fasted have to be addressed, but it doesn’t appear he suffers from a “mental illness”, probably just stress and a bunch of stuff that all happened at once. The lost to Alfred E Newman was the trigger, not the cause of his eventual breakdown/deleruium.
