Wanderlei Silva To Return In December
UFC light heavyweight contender Wanderlei Silva stated during a recent appearance on TAGG Radio that he will likely return to the octagon in December at what is usually the biggest UFC pay-per-view event of the year. “The Axe Murderer” added that while he would (surprise) enjoy a third meeting with Quinton Jackson, he really has no idea who his opponent could be at this time:
“They’re talking about December because it is the best event of the year. (Antonio Rodrigo) Nogueira is going to fight (Frank) Mir for the belt for the heavyweights. This is the best event. It’s much more promotion. They told me to be ready to fight in December.
They gave me 10 (possible) names,” Silva said. “My division is the best division in the world. They have so many names. I think they’re going to give a good opponent to me…I wanted to fight [Jackson] again. I think it’s a very good match.”
Silva (32-8-1 MMA, 2-3 UFC) most recently dispatched of Keith Jardine in the opening minute of their bout at UFC 84, and prior to that dropped a hard fought decision to former champion Chuck Liddell at UFC 79.

Since we only got to see Wand in action for 36 seconds back in May, it would be nice to see him fight more than twice a year!
The UFC get’s cheaper by the day. We already got screwed out of seeing Liddell fight 3 times this year because of his injury, so you would think they would let guys like Wand fight more, but I guess not.
ufc haters…it’s not wanderlei’s fault he knocked out jardine in 36 seconds(wait, i guess it is), and the did want him to fight again on SPIKE but brandon “can’t handle the truth” vera refused it b/c as he said in his last interview when he won the fight…”I was just playing it safe because i wanted to get a W”. if anything, they just need to stop giving that dude fights. 3 fights a year is more or less average for fighters. and liddell getting getting injured…what does that have to do with the UFC being cheap???
who knows, it may be forrest. maybe they’re expecting wandi to beat forrest, chuck to stomp evans, and then CHUCK vs. WANDI II as a LHW CHampionship match. Wouldn’t it suck if evans somehow beat chuck and we saw forrest vs. evans in a title fight. i like forrest but i wouldn’t pay to see that.

Marcus davis was on a 11 fight win streak and didn’t get a title shot. Huerta (if he won) would have 10, with 1 win against a top 10 lightweight. He’s been fed cans most of his career and that’s coming from a guy that likes him. You need to strip the emotion away from the situation. And no way Hurta beats BJ, hell I give BJ a 70 30 shot over GSP in december.

Shogun, gets placed there cause before his injury and up until Forrest beat him he was P4P one of the best in the world. He came into his 1st fight in the UFC against a legit contender in Forrest and looked like he didn’t get to train enough. So most of us are willing to give him a pass, that and we would love to see that war between him and Wandi. However like I stated from everything I’ve heard they would never fight cause they are to close as friends.

All mma organizations should be tied to one GIANT new years eve MMA event in which each organization puts forth a couple fighters and then have one giant tournament to determine the p4p winner. That would make the greatest ppv event ever. I’d imagine a Fedor vs Anderson Silva final [with a fedor victory, the man is more powerful than 15 tanks].
i love forrest he has a huge heart but i truly cant see him beating many of the top contenders in the light heavy weight division such as wanderlei, liddel, machida, silva, franklin, or even matt hamill. forrest could barely beat rampage and he had the judges on his side he beat rua because rua gassed out in like the first 15 seconds. there are plenty of match ups that are amazing in that division but if your given a title shot in the lhw divison your pretty much getting the belt for free

Allthough I am a huge “ACE” fan I am not sure putting him on the list of Light Heavyweight contenders is accurate. IMO the “spyder” doesn’t even belong on that list. By his own omission he doesn’t want the belt.
That being said I do agree that Forrest isn’t the toughest champ, but getting the belt for free? Not likely, Forrest puts to much in to just give the belt up. Anyone who gets that title shot and thinks they will be handed the belt will regret looking past Forrest.
Forrest loses his first and what will be his only defense. After seeing how he won the title people like wanderlei, chuck, soko, shogun will maul his ass.

hey new to this particular site anyways, Wanderlei wont fight Rua and wont fight A.Silva because simply the use to train with one another.. in my opionion (which doesnt count for s^*t) the Dec card may look like:
Big Nog/ Mir(HW title)
Griffin/Liddell (LHW title if Liddell can beat Evans)
B.J Penn/ Florian or Huerta (LW title)
Wanderlei/Stepen Bonnar (why not)
Rua/Rampage(just want it happen again)

The more I thought about the UFC telling Wandy to be ready for December, made me wonder if they have a back up plan in case the unthinkable happens and Chuck loses to Rashad.
Even if Rashad beat Chuck by a decsion he would not desere a title shot on account that he won the Bisping fight by split decsion. If you can’t finish a guy who should have been fighting at 185, then in my book you have some more work to do before you get a title shot.

Last time we missed Mayweather and TUF finale but got closing night Ceiline (On Honeymoon) and WEC Filho Sonnen 1. (BTW We are driving down for that fight…God I hate Chael).
I don’t understand why everyone thinks there could be three title fights on the 27th. 205 is the crown jewel of the UFc and if the HVT is up for grabs no LWH title fight will take place. Superbowl weekend is money in Vegas. So if Liddell is fighting or Rampage (Doubt it) they are going to save it. The only thing I could see would be Jardine-Forrest being used as filler.
Penn-Huerta but Roger is going to have to beat him Diego style and call BJ out.(outside chance GSP but they are talking about the Montreal card in Nov/Dec.)

i personally think that the LHW title could be in the mix on the Dec. card simply because if Liddell gets past Evans (which may very well happen) most assume that Chuck would get a shot @ Forrest in a attempt to regain “his” belt… when was the last time that Chuck hasnt fought on the last card of the year… thats why i believe that the LHW title could be fought for in Dec..
I hate it(driving) just a little less than Chael.AAA says 12hrs 20min. I have been putting up with crazy family(both sides) and chronic injuries (can’t train at all and dying to for years) and trying to sell a damn townhouse that needs to be fixed up.(sign goes up in 14 days) The Godz of War cancellation was going to keep me from Vegas a while longer. Filho isn’t going to have anybody in his corner. Not many have watched the Bushido fights(He boxes better than in the WEC) and that with the personal problems I feel bad for the guy.(DRUGS ARE BAD BUT THE DEPRESSION IS BAD TOO) Plus watch the Sonnen Horn fights. Chael is like the kid who would holler “do over if it didn’t go his way”. He is a whiner. And the ad hominum stuff went to far. I have typed this before…I was on the plane with Napao on the way out last Dec. I told him to tell Paulo to break it off if he got an armbar because of the Horn-Sonnen stuff (SEE Sportfight and UFC not the other fight). I think he will either be completely gone as a fighter or he will really hurt Chael. And look at what Chael did to Baker (who wasn’t ready for him). You have to admit he has got it coming.

The Liddell tradition is a good point but if he gets by Evans ( and he could) the story is the most promising thig to offer for Superbowl weekend.It is going to take 12 weeks for America to appreciate Minotauro-Mir. But TUF one winner Vs TUF one coach. That will be everywhere and they will need the time to market it properly. It will be one of biggest gates ever.
I am skeptical of Liddell winning in Atlanta because of the injury. It hasn’t been fight tested yet. Plus remember when Rashad was fighting on TUF 2. Hughes hated it because he did not understand it. Rashad incorporates a little of the Jailhouse Rock/52 stuff. Liddlell might have a hard time timing his sots for such an usual style. This will make him a fan favorite in Atlanta by the way (Possibly like Kimbo in Miami). And Evans has a body type not unlike Rampage.

Cantwell(7 fights god bless him he avenged the headpunchher) isn’t ready for the top of the UFC 205 division.
Stann would need to get the title back.Then maybe you have something. And Rhino is too small for 205.He should drop down.

Dietrich, i agree on the fact that its going to take a full 12weeks for most people to find apprecitation for Mir v Big Nog and that the LHW title can easily be superbowl weekend which is still great… Chuck’s leg isnt fight tested persay i do believe that Hacleman will make sure that he doesnt take the with Evans lightly, as he did with Jardine.. for me the last card of the year without Chuck is the same as not being able to watch Fedor in Japan fighting on NYE against a can..
