Report: Arlovski vs. Fedor Canceled For Second Affliction Show
The scheduled meeting between recently-crowned WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko and UFC veteran Andrei Arlovski slated for Affliction 2 has been canceled, at least for the time being, according to a report from fiveouncesofpain.com:
“A reliable source speaking on the condition of anonyomity revealed…that Emelianenko has been dealing with a lingering hand injury that will make it virtually impossible for him to be ready in time for Affliction’s October show at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Arlovski is expected to remain on the card and event organizers are said to be looking into finalizing a bout between Arlovski and Josh Barnett to serve as the show’s new main event.”
While this news only spells more aggravation for Tom Atencio and company, it really couldn’t have worked out much better for Josh Barnett, who may now get the pay day he feels he deserves thanks to Affliction’s back being up against the proverbial wall. Though scrapping a bout featuring Emelianenko certainly doesn’t help pay-per-view buys, I’d probably still pay to see Arlovski and Barnett bang it out, even if it is in a comically oversized ring.

Looks like Josh Barnett can now ask for $250k to show and an extra $100k -$150k win bonus. But the card will need more than Belfort vs. Lindland, Tito vs whomever, and Arlovski vs. Barnett.
I say co-promote the event (Elite XC, Strikeforce)and bring 4-5 their fighters to compete. Including one of their reighning champions to fight for another WAMMA title belt.
Plus get some popular ex-Ultimate Fighters like Mike Nickels, Din Thomas, Shonie Carter, and Jesse Taylor. (These guys you can get cheap, just promise them if they win, they fight on another card)
This would be the only way I’d pay $40 again. And I believe I got my moneys worth the first time.
Fedor was the only reason the last show got so much hype………We will see what Affliction can do without the big name! I guarantee 100,000 PPVs is not going to happen this time!
This is bad news for Affliction which doesn’t figure to sell many PPV’s with Fedor gone. Fedor is their main attraction and if he’s out, it will be hard for this company to make any money. This really sucks and Dana White will be laughing all the way to the bank. I may still buy it if they put in Sylvia vs. Aleksander Emelianenko.
this is good for affliction cuz that fight is gonna be huge. like for sure its gonna be a good one and it needs to wait a lil while so people will actually appreciate this good shi.t when it comes around im gonna be goin for andrei cuz that dude is badass as hell
This is good for Arlovski…He needs way more time to train to beat Fedor. Even still it may not be enough.
Barnett is a great fighter though…he’s just too slow for Fedor.
Either way I’ll be buying it to make sure I see Fedor, Belfort and Tito fight live.
So seeing as Arlovski was promised a title shot, with Fedor being unable to compete, will this fight be for the interim wamma HW title?
no affliction wants to make a name for themselves just like the ufc who does no co promoting I am sure that good ol donnie will figure something out and pay for the top notch fights
I’ll still buy the card. This is actually good news – Fedor’s hand injury will require some time to heal, allowing Couture enough time to figure out his legal situation. This might allow the two to face each other @ Affliction III or IV. Meanwhile, Barnett and Arlovski fight for the #1 contender spot. Works for me. Much better heavyweight action here than anywhere else.
Barnett’s last fight was boring until he knocked out Pedro. Arlovski looks like hes back to his old self were he swarmed his opponents and he going to be too quick and fast for Barnett. It sucks that Fedor’s hand sucks, but it shows how much better fedor was better than Sylvia big dumb ars

Affliction Banned may not have been officially a co-promotion, but it had M-1 plastered on the turn buckles. So atleast they were a sponsor and gave the Emelianenko brothers permission to fight there.
I would not pay to see a Barnett main event. Arlovski on the other hand is tempting. Fedor having health issues is very bad for Affliction’s future. Too bad Affliction went off throwing around money for an injured fighter. This is a classic example of why not to give athletes $1 million signing bonuses without insentives. Now maybe Affliction was smart enough to do so but I highly doubt it. Fedor is their Kimbo….only he actually has talent and is the P4P best on the planet. I heard a rumor he got hepatitis on his hand trying to help his brother out with his case of hep. Poor Emlianenko brothers. I hope Fedor comes back ASAP to kick the **** out of someone…..hopefully some wine drinking French Canadian. This should make Affliction’s next move rather interesting.

The only thing the Donald is going to do is throw around money. He has no idea what to do as far as MMA goes. He is JUST an investor in the fastest rising sport in America. MMA can be a money maker and the Donald is good at making money. He is giving an investment a try. That is all it is to him. An investment…..not MMA. Also a good way to keep himself in the public eye. I’m sure Tito will whisper a few sweet things in his ears so no worries Affliction fans.
You know the Donald actually IS a sports fan and Tito gave him a whole new outlook on the brutal sport. He did this by being respectable, well spoken and did a fair job on Celebrity Apprentice.
I’m willing to bet he will be a MMA fan soon though. Not many guys can resist once they really begin watching it.

I don’t buy into the fancy, decieving editing tricks of reality television. I still think Tito is a muscle head who is not very smart. Great fighter with little brains. The Apprentice presented Tito the way The Apprentice wanted people to percieve him. All those reality T.V. shows edit everything to make people look like a specific personality type. The Donald has been a sports fan but that doesn’t mean he knows the first thing about MMA. As of now, he is still just an investor. You cannot tell me he didn’t get involved with MMA for any other reason than money and publicity. You are right however, a new fan has been born. His name is the Donald and with the right people around him, he could make a great impact in the world of MMA. I doubt it though….he is interested in money. Tito isn’t going to help either. Affliction need Arlovski v Barnett especially with the UFC having a free card the following week
The first event was great which only makes it harder to follow up and looseing fedor certainly does’nt help .
However affliction is more than one fighter and arlovski looks like he’s back to his best.
I would like to see it inside a cage rather than a ring it really spoils the action when the fighters keep falling throught the ropes but apart from that well done affliction for putting together what really was a great first event .
