Emelianenko vs. Arlovski To Headline Affliction 2 On October 11th In Las Vegas

Affliction’s second event will take place on October 11th at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and will feature WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko taking on former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski in the main event, according to Yahoo! Sports.
The promotion is just days removed from its first effort, Affliction “Banned”, which took place on Saturday, July 19th, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and featured Emelianenko defeating former UFC champion Tim Sylvia in just 36-seconds to claim the WAMMA title. Arlovski defeated IFL standout Ben Rothwell via third-round knockout at “Banned”.
The October 11th event is expected to be officially announced next week.

Now I might buy this card…I knew he would destroy Sylvia, but this is different…glad to see they topped their 1st headline…and didnt do worse than their 1st!
I can see Arlovski doing alot better than Tim did…He looked good in his match against Rothwell..
I feel Arlovski has a decent chance. He was an f-n animal against Rothwell. Sylvia is nowhere near the challenge Arlovski will be now. Fedor will likely win and after this I cannot think of anyone who stands a chance. Not even Randy. On the better side of things, Fedor and Arlovski have much better opponents now that they will be fighting each other. I am really excited for this fight. Still……F Affliction. Not sure why being I am happy with this match but F THEM in the ear.

I agree Tmoney…I wanna see the best fight the best….which with the IFL going out of business, hopefully the UFC will buy them out…I doubt affliction will last long…there only good fighters are heavyweights…and it will be the same fighters every card, just mixed around…Im sure elite xc won’t last long either…this is what Anderson Silva had to say about other promotions…

As much as I would like to see only 1 group.. and not UFC, Affliction, Elite, etc…I am glad that there are other markets…for the simple reason that it keeps this sport alive and more interesting….you need to have competion to keep people interested!!! Now I am NOT comparing the 2.. but look at WWE…back in the day when I was half way into pro wrestling, was when there was WcW and WWF…and I liked the WcW better.. had the nWo…and it was cool seeing stars go back and forth and wondering what it would be like if so and so fought…and wrestling was huge then…10+ yrs ago…then WWE bought out WcW…and the ratings went to crap shortly there after….i could see the same if all the fight organizations merged to 1…..but I could be wrong…..I just think there needs to be a balance to keep things interesting…I may be alone on that one…

I might have to give money to Affliction for the first time. This will be a great fight! Andrei Arlovski is much quicker on his feet then Sylvia and likes to press the strikes and jabs.
i think AA will beat fedor, hes not called the pitbull for nothing, we still haven’t seen fedor tested yet so we still dont no were hes at! yeah he walked threw tim but i want to see him take a few hits and put under in abit see how he handles it.

what about all other organized sports? NBA NFL MLB MLS….I wanna see the same with MMA..I mean maybe have like a minor league for guys who lose too many fights or are just starting out but other than that. I heard they are in talks with alot of other fighters, some that are under contract with the UFC now. If they continue to pay like they did at that last show, then people will fight for them and people will watch as they sign other big names. I do believe at this point, they would have maybe 2 PPV sells of not for Fedor.
If Fedor wins this, that sets up Fedor vs. Randy in the UFC for 2 mill. each, in early 2009.

I think Fedor will still pull out a win, but will be a monumental fight for Affliction. But until they do sign more fighters and give Fedor a break, they will run out of steam. The coming months will tell all about what the plans are for Affliction, but I can tell you, they are sitting around loving all the recognition they are getting or only putting on one show.

Randy won’t fight in the UFC now as a matter of principal. Dana says a LOT of stuff that makes the media happy and the UFC look good. Just recently he said A. Silva asked to fight at 205 and then it comes out that Silva was asked to fight at 205 and he did it as a personal favor to Dana.
Dana said Randy is not out of the question to fight for the UFC, he is.

From a spectator stand point at home. UFC blows Affliction away. But lets give Affliction a few more PPVs to get the commentating right. get guys in there that make the show as interesting outside the ring as it is in. They are rookies when it comes to this still and I feel they will iron the commentating and tv appearance aspect out.
The UFC is a better production BAR NONE! I have had it with fights out of the cage. The ring sucks. The cage leaves NO-ESCAPE! On a lighter note…..
I liked the Affliction show (for a lesser promotion) But …… When the hell did Rothwell become a step to a shot at the WAMMA Title. He took a @#$% load of punishment, but contender for “GREATEST HEAVYWEIGHT IN MMA”???? Arlovski is a bad ass, but Fedor WILL put his dick in the dirt. Does that mean if Rothwell would have won, he would fight Fedor????? The only fight in the world is Couture/Emilienanko(sp).

Once the litigation is over between the Zuffa and Randy, then the Fedor-Couture train will really take-off. Both Zuffa and Randy have let the water settle a little bit, but now that Affliction could be a literal contendor with the UFC, Randy will have to make a move so we can get this fight to happen!

1) THE BEST HEAVYWEIGHTS ARE IN AFFLICTION: so if ya want all the best fighters in one place the underpaid and no merchandising right fighters from the Ufc should move to affliction!!!!!!
2) Competition is good-and NO we don’t want all the fighters in the same place-ideally there would be 2-3 major org’s with champions fighting champions to determine undisputed champions. ONLY DANA WHITE wants all the fighters in one org (his) so that he can bully them around and have a system whereby many who deserve a title shot are not given one:werdum, machida come to immediate mind. And don’t tell me that that Rampage fight wasn’t fixed.

All do respect DannyBoy, I am embracing another organization. But getting to the status of UFC, it has a long way to go. I am glad to see another Org. put up numbers that UFC dreamed of in 1993. I just hope the public will keep them around long enough and not blow them off.

Bo, no disrepect felt bro… I have never claimed that Affliction or EliteXC have even come close to the production value of the UFC. They will figure out quickly just like Dana did that cheap gimmicks, rock bands, stupid fighter entrances will not stand for the general MMA fan for long. If they don’t, then they deserve to go under. However, I think they will fix most of the issues that almost all of you complain about and the production value will raise to at least 1/2 as good as the UFC within a year.
Either way…talking trash about another MMA organization for the sole reason that they are TRYING to make a name for themselves and compete in a UFC ONLY world should not be tolerated for long without at least a few of you on here being in my corner with this.

Its going to be a good fight, but Fedor is still going to rip Arlovski apart. Good job Jason N for saying competition always makes the product better and more exciting and referencing the WCW and WWF. The best HVWT”S might be in Affliction but with the exception of Fedor the best fighters are at 205 or lighter. Its a good title fight…The undercard needs to be 10x better.A round robin from the fighters from last weekend isn’t going to cut it.Oh and it wouldn’t hurt PR for Fedor to explain Aleks situation because this not talking about fighters that you were promoting is bush league…
Honestly, Affliction is a huge threat to the UFC. Dana talks smack but couldnt sign Fedor, Fedor walked through Tim who dominated the division in UFC. Dana thinks he could beat Tito in a fight. Plus a lot of top guys in UFC have contracts expiring soon, and im sure they would rather go to affliction where they make more money.

Fedor whipped Sylvia in 36 seconds while Randy fought Tim to a unanimous decision. Randy’s gonna have his work cut out for him, when he fights Fedor. Randy will be older too. Arlovski and Barnett and maybe a CroCop rematch is all that is left for Fedor. After that, Fedor should retire as the BEST MMA fighter ever. A legacy well earned. If he stays in too long, he’ll eventually get caught and be like No More Legacy (Steroid Using) Royce Gracie. FEDOR PROVE YOUR POINT WITH RANDY< BARNETT< AND ARLOVSKI AND RETIRE WITH A LEGACY NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO TOUCH
Although I like Arlovski a lot, the fact is he will just be the next man to provide a W on Fedor’s illustrious record. Fedor is in a different league to any other fighter out there regardless of weight catagory they are in. His record speaks for itself with a who’s who of MMA fighters that tasted defeat at his hand. I don’t buy into this “Randy/Fedor” matchup proving anything either, Fedor would gobble him up too. I hope I get to watch this fight PPV, I don’t care who Fedor fights, I will always watch, the man is a living legend.

This is huge!!! I can’t wait for this match! To top 5 HWs going at it! Arlovski definitely is quicker and more fluid in the stand up game than Sylvia. His hands are alot faster and his overall boxing skills are better so this should be a much tougher match for Fedor. However, I think Fedor still is the much more well rounded fighter and in my opinion has more ways to win than Arlovski. This is a GREAT match up. This might be the best match up in MMA all year in any promotion!

i like the big ring after watching pride for 10 years the one the was it slowed the fights down when there always pushed to the ropes, the bigger ring in small ways fixed this for most of the fights. Emelianenko vs. Arlovski sounds good to me, just its just a count down till Fedor and randy, fador will for the time being will not have a fighter that will be at the came level as him the guy got a brown belt in everything most well rounded. i wounder who the ufc will have fighting this night on some free event better be good!

you know affliction is going to put fedor vs couture at a new years event. it’s the one fight fedor wants so you know he would sign for it. and plus, knowing how good the ufc card will be, it’s a sure thing that mma fans would buy both ppv’s. I would. I wouldn’t miss a fedor/couture matchup, and i sure as hell won’t miss ufc new years [especially with how good last years card was].
