Report: Aleksander Emelianenko Tests Positive For Hepatitis B
Aleksander Emelianenko, the younger brother of WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko and an established MMA heavyweight, has tested positive for Hepatitis B according to MMANews.com, confirming earlier rumors that Emelianenko was pulled from Affliction “Banned” on July 19th after testing positive for the virus:
“A source close to the situation…explained that the blood tests came back right before Aleks and Buentello were scheduled to weigh in and that is why there was so much confusion around the stage and why the fighters did not weigh in. Gary Goodridge ended up stepping up on extremely short notice and filling in for the Russian heavyweight.
The tests were positive for Hepatitis B which resulted in the CSAC cancelling the fight.”
Common symptoms of Hepatitis B include liver inflammation and vomiting and, while the virus could potentially be career-ending, approximately 95-percent of those infected with the virus fully recover within months.
A second test is likely to be conducted to confirm the presence of the virus.

Likely he is getting the best medical care so I expect a full recovery and him fighting again in about a year. This is good because he can still train and get better (which he needs to do).
I just wonder… will there every be a Fedor/Aleksander fight? That would certainly make for an interesting main event…even though big brother would easily take it.
To give the best answer I can to Dannyboy, I dont think Fedor and Aleks are ever gonna fight. Im not sure if its still on youtube or not, but there was a video of Fedor’s reaction backstage when his bro got knocked out by cro cop, he was pissed and Im sure wanted to beat the hell outa cro cop that night, Im sure he wouldnt wanna repeat what cro cop did himself.
Actually they have fought but in a grappling match and fedor still spanked him.
