Franklin-Hamill, Henderson-Palhares, and Parisyan-Yoshida Added To UFC 88

Rich FranklinRich Franklin vs. Matt Hamill, Dan Henderson vs. Rousimar Palhares, and Karo Parisyan vs.Yoshiyuki Yoshida have been officially added to UFC 88 on September 6th in Atlanta.

Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin will return to the 205-pound light heavyweight division at UFC 88 to take on “The Ultimate Fighter 3″ cast member Matt Hamill. Franklin (23-3) is coming off a TKO victory over Travis Lutter at UFC 83 and has lost just three times in his 26-fight career: twice to current UFC middleweight champion and to UFC light heavyweight contender Lyoto Machida. Hamill (4-1) won his first bout on “The Ultimate Fighter” but was unable to continue in the competition due to injuries. After winning three straight bouts following the show Hamill lost a controversial split decision to Michael Bisping but bounced back with a second-round TKO win over Tim Boetsch in April.

Former PRIDE welterweight and middleweight champion Dan Henderson will look to bouce back from back-to-back losses against up-and-coming middleweight Rousimar Palhares. Henderson (22-7) most-recently dropped back-to-back bouts against UFC champions Quinton Jackson and Anderson Silva but had previously won six of his last seven fights. Palhares (8-1) defeated veteran Ivan Salaverry via first-round submission in his UFC debut in May and has won six straight bouts.

Longtime welterweight contender Karo Parisyan will look to bounce back against up-and-comer Yoshiyuki Yoshida at UFC 88. Parisyan (18-5) was next in line for a shot at the 170-pound title but a second-round TKO loss to Thiago Alves in April caused Parisyan to lose his first opportunity to win a UFC championship. Yoshida (10-2), the winner of Cage Force’s welterweight tournament, defeated “Ultimate Fighter” veteran Jon Koppenhaver via first-round submission at his UFC debut in May.

    FRANKLIN,HENDERSON,YOSHIDA!

  • Cole Miller says:

I hope parisyan gets his ass wooped…I can’t stand that guy anymore…I thought he used to be a pretty good fighter…but the more I hear him talk, I more I wish he’d get his ass wooped…

  • braveheart says:

    I hope Franklin smashes Hamill!

Palhares has ridiculous ji-jitsu! but im still pulling for Dan

Karo has to lose the lovehandels or lose another fight!

  • 2girls2cups says:

dans the man. i really like that guy and i’d love to see him fight silva again. in my opinion, he’s the only guy that might beat the spider at 185. i wonder if franklin’s strategy for hammill is to get his ass kicked the whole fight and let it go to a lame decision? just sayin, historically that’s a good plan.

  • UFC says:

Oh man the Deaf hero is gonna destroy Riuch Franklin worse than Anderson Silva did.

  • I agree with Braveheart, I like Karo, but WTF i’m in better shape! If Karo doesn’t slim down when he asks people if they “know who he is” they be like yep: the (insert country) dough boy!

  • rutdog says:

I think Matt Hamill is going to give Ace more than he can handle. Rich is used to getting beat up by A. Silva and beating up other 185 lbers. Well, Hamill is a big 205er and I think he has constantly been improving his hands and footwork. Not saying he will be on Franklin’s level of standup, but I don’t see this fight being won by Rich. Also, I see Hendo winning by G&P, and hope to see Parisyan beat again.

  • Dannyboy says:

So funny that Franklin moves up in weight class when he should probably be moving down. I’m sure he had the crap scared out of him watching Irvin get owned by Silva in the weight class he moved up to. I hope Hammill wins because he was so sh*tted by the judges in his Bisping fight.

I absolutely cannot wait to see Rashad have his a$$ handed to him by Liddell. It will be the first time i’ve rooted for Chuck in a long while.

  • Ryan-S says:

I am a BIG BIG Franklin fan, but, I seriously think Hamill may be a tough cookie for him. He’s already used to fighting at 205, whereas Rich is not. Rich will certainlky feel the weight there that he isn’t used to.

Wow, how would it be if Rich Franklin were next to face Brandon Vera ??
I mean, one has moved up, the other has moved down. Some weight shifting there, and, in their previous categories, they would have been pounds and pounds apart in weight.
I would like to see that.

  • Bo says:

After Vera’s poor poor showing last weekend, Vera shouldn’t have a shot at someone like Rich. He needs to understand a little more about cutting weight and do it a few more times before he gets into there with someone like Ace.

  • JOHNBOY says:

    kris

u put machida instead of silva when refuring to riches 2 losses just an heads up mate

  • JOHNBOY says:

i see rich kicking hamills ass all over the cage until the ref jumps in an stops it, franklin is still a top top dog hes just been biten by the top dog twice.

  • 2girls2cups says:

i think it would be hilarious if hammil dropped to 185 after this fight. i’d pay just about anything to see them pan to bisping face during that announcement. in regards to franklin, it should be a decent fight, hard to say what’ll happen but i would think that rich is the favorite. and for karo, i’m already at the point where i honestly don’t care to see the guy fight anymore. even though he’s still young, it seems like his time has already passed so what’s the point in watching him fight just so he can run his mouth about why he’s great when he’s never had a title shot? i think dana white called him the WW gatekeeper which to me is about as high an honor as he’s gonna get. i see him signing with elite after his ufc contract is up.

  • kelvin says:

    hammill, henderson, yoshida

  • kelvin says:

    johnboy,

you would think that hamill is gonna get beat especially after you know deep down that he OWNED bisping! gimme me a break.

  • JOHNBOY says:

get over the bisping fight u guys really need to let this go, come on get it off your chest once an for all, im listening im here for you,let it all go just remember that ur mum loves u.

hamill will get destroyed by franklin then hopefully he will come down to 185 so the count can kick his ass even more

  • The Gunslinger says:

    LEBEN > BISPING

  • Champagne says:

if im not mistaken, karo was to face matt hughes for the WW title once… he got injured… i belive karo still has lots of good fights in him… cacky or not, he does have natural ability, he just has to quit being such a slob about things…

  • Dietrich says:

    Hammill over Franklin via decision
    Henderson Ko in 2
Parisyan loses by submission due to tripping over his ego.

  • animal says:

Good lad Johnboy you’re sticking up for bisping! Dunno how but I missed that fight (caught some highlights of it though). The way I look at it Mike didn’t do ought wrong. Blame the judges, they make the decision not the fighters.
If the fight isn’t finished then thats what happens.

In a way I think Mike would want a Rematch with Matt at 185. He certainly has something to prove to all of you doubters out there!

    (Yorkshire dictionary: ought = nothing)

Respect Hamill though he’s a great wrestler. Still want Franklin to win though, the guy is a legend.

  • 2girls2cups says:

    animal,
i hear ya. i would think that bisping would want a rematch too.

    johnboy,
how you gonna honestly say “kick his ass more”? c’moooooon man. is it like how you guys drive on the opposite side of the road over there? do you also have the opposite opinion of what an ass whoopin is? haha.

  • blane says:

man this is a great card im glad i have tickets

  • B Free says:

Could care less about Parisyan, Yoshida in a decision(hopefully a quick submission like he did to War Machine) Everyone is hating on Hamill’s standup like they were hating on his standup before the Bisping fight and look what happened, he handed Bisping’s butt on a platter to him, but got screwed by the judges Hamill by TKO. The Hendo-Palhares is going to steal the show though. Both guys are amazing on the ground, but i have to give the edge to Hendo

  • joel b says:

hendo was the LHW and MW champ not the WW champ

i hope that franklin has a good showing cause hamil is getting better every fight

  • KOuch says:

Franklin is more well rounded than Hammill. There is no reason he should lose and if he does I’ll be very disappointed unless it is a complete ass whoopin’. Karo is a nutcase terrorist and I would not mind seeing him get hurt badly. He’ll probably win because he is such a dangerous threat inside the cage and on the street. We don’t even know what he is capable of and it’s probabaly going to be very disturbing what he does to Yoshida. He doesn’t even need to train. GO YOSHIDA!!!! I love your sauce….tastes great with stir fry and chicken.

  • jpm says:

I hope Karo gets defeated, all that guy is capable of on the street is detenating a car bomb or mascerading as a suicide bomber. That guy is such bell end !!!!!

    johnboy

When will people come to terms that in Bisping/Hamill, Hamill won 1 round comfortably and Bisping won 2 very close rounds with his superior boxing skills, that 10 point must system is far from ideal, but its flaws gave Bisping an honest victory over Hamill……thats a fact !!

  • Brandon says:

    poor matt hamill

  • O Crap no one gets it says:

Hamill is good but the 25-3 ACE for sure for the people pickin hamill no way will hamill come out ahead He will get winded just like the Tim fight but this time he will be more like travis lutter. Hell ya

  • JOHNBOY says:

animal a good old yorkshire lad just like myself,

tell me about it jpm if hamill was so good he would of put the count away.

  • 2girls2cups says:

same goes for bisping lads. you’re all over his jock about how great he is and he couldn’t put hammill down. i don’t think anyones ever said that hammil is amazing, just that he got ripped off with that decsion. hopefully one day they’ll rematch so that one side can finally shut the hell up, lol.

  • hamsterwheel says:

Well it doesn’t matter anymore bisping is at the top of his game at 185 and if leben beats him i would be shocked. Hammil is comfortable at 205 and is really big for that weight class. I think he has moved on from the fight and won’t drop down to 185 just to fight bisping. C’mon

  • ufcmanz says:

Wow Rich Franklin Vs. Matt Hamill, Dan Henderson Vs. Rousimar Palhares, and Karo Parisyan Vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida. Chuck Liddell Vs. Rashad Evans and If the Anderson Silva Vs. Patrick Cote fight is also added to this card. From top to bottom on your 5 main card fights will be stacked, Liddell and Silva on the same card, all you average UFC fans want to see their fights and to have both on the same event UFC, UFC will be making some money that night they may as well rent a hockey stadium and pack it with 20k+ cause that event will be sold out for sure. PPV buys for this event I’ll bet well be the most income fo this year by far.

  • Chavezz says:

  • Chavezz says:

  • Chavezz says:

WAR HENDO WAR HE IS P4P THE BEST IMO
