Kimbo Slice, Gina Carano To Sign Autographs This Saturday, July 26th, At “Unfinished Business”
Mixed martial arts fans attending this Saturday’s terrific EliteXC fight card in Stockton, Calif., will have the opportunity to meet Kimbo Slice and Gina Carano when they participate in a pre-fight autograph signing just prior to the opening bell.
The undefeated EliteXC fighters, perhaps the two most popular and recognizable athletes in mixed martial arts, will sign autographs inside The Stockton Arena beginning when the doors open at 2:30 p.m. PT. They will sign until the first fight starts at 3:15.
Tickets for the most significant sporting event in the recent history of Stockton start at $35 and can be purchased at the Stockton Arena Box Office (Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.) and Saturday (noon-4 p.m.), by phone at (209) 373-1700 and (866) 373-7088 (toll free) or online at www.stocktontickets.com.
Three of Northern California’s most talented and crowd-pleasing fighters will appear in Saturday’s top fights.
Hard-hitting Scott “Hands of Steel” Smith (15-4, 1 NC) of Sacramento by way of Elk Grove, Calif., will challenge defending champion “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler (15-4, 1 NC) of Granite City, Ill., for the EliteXC middleweight title; San Francisco’s Jake Shields (20-4-1) faces Nick “The Goat’’ Thompson (36-9-1) of Minneapolis for the vacant EliteXC welterweight belt and local favorite and world class lightweight contender, Nick Diaz (17-7) of Stockton meets Thomas “Wildman’’ Denny (26-16) of Victorville. people know kimbo because he’s a beast, and people know gina because she’s hot. however, neither of them can be considered the most popular in MMA. maybe to people who have only watched elitexc, but not anyone who actually somewhat follows the sport.

If these two are the ones representing this sport than MMA is in a world of hurt. Kimbo Slice is exactly the type of person MMA fans and MMA officials like Dana White cringe when they here his name associated with the sport. He exemplifies the street fighter persona that the sport of MMA is trying to get away from. The reason why he exemplifies the street fighter persona is because HE IS A STREET FIGHTER. The scene at the end of the TUF season 5, where those two clowns had a brawl in the backyard is what Kimbo Slice is all about. MMA is all about the Jackson/Griffin war. The Pulver/Faber fight. Two of the top competitors in the game going toe to toe for 5 rounds.
As for Gina, have only ever seen pictures and for that matter I like what I see. I would like to see her fight. Maybe I will tune in for an EliteXC that she is fighting in but if Slice is involved I will be watching Baseball instead.

Not sure how Kimbo presonifies the ’street fighter persona’ when he’s done nothing but train with Bas Rutten who is extremely disciplined. If he were still actually street fighting I could see that. The man’s trying to change his image and people give him **** for it.
Course people gave Tyson **** for being undefeated because it was quite a while before he made it past the 3rd round.

its really still small womans ma but its getting bigger…i mean theres an all woman’s mma promotion and theres alot of underated fighters like tara larosa and shayna Baszler who could probably be womans division champions if elite xc ends up making a womans division…and if affliction gets a womans division that could put a lot of pressure on the ufc because dana hates womans MMA but its a mma promotion gold mind..it makes the woman viewers go up!
He exemplifies the street fighter persona because all he has ever done is been a street fighter. At least thats what people see of him and thats what he is known for. If he proves himself in real sanctioned MMA, then of course he can be a real athlete in MMA but he hasn’t done that yet. So for now he is known only as a streetfighter.

Me: “He is not fighting, I will porobably watch to see Robbie Lawler fight Scott Smith. Scott Smith had a really fun fight to watch a few years ago against a guy named Pete Sell. Sell broke Smiths ribs and then Smith knocked Sell out on his way down. Or maybe I will watch Nick Diaz, he might be a little nuts but at least he can put on a quality fight.”
